Template talk:User hat checklist
I added a template for people to show hats they previously had. If everyone's okay with it, all we need to do is add the icon into the key for people to know what it means.--Piemanmoo 19:42, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Hidden by default
Is there an option to show this template hidden by default? When the user decides to see it,he just have to click Show.If there isn't such an option,it would be cool to have. Also the same for the weapon checklist. --- Mitko1239 (Talk page) --- 18:16, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
Enhancement Idea
Allowing the user to be able to indicate a quantity for each hat would be niffty! Nooch 11:38, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'd be in favor of this. Another possible edition is vintage status.--Jordan 02:34, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- You could indicate Vintage status with different color check marks. Blue check mark could indicate Vintage; Yellow check mark would indicate non-Vintage; then Green check mark would indicate possessing both Vintage and non-Vintage of that item. Nooch 20:12, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- Meh Am I alone in thinking that being able to indicate possession of multiple versions of the same type of hat is a little over-the-top? I'm all for displaying whether a hat is vintage/unusual/normal (checkmark + V/U), but noting copies seems weird. ::Scurve :: 23:17, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Collapsable
Should this template be collapsed by default? It's currently very large. I propose that we have two templates, this one (the main one) would be collapsed by default while an alternate one would be uncollapsed for those who wish to always display their hats. the same thing would apply for the weapons checklist. I've got a test checklist here (Yes, it messes with my images, be quiet)--Firestorm 19:53, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yes That checklist is so massive that it's almost a chore to scroll past. The worst is when people put it at the top of their page. Collapse the sucker! -- - (talk | contribs) -- 19:55, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yes I personally don't see much use of it in the first place. --CruelCow (talk) 19:57, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yes Hidden by default would be lovely. I don't know loads about the wiki code, but do we need two templates for that? Couldn't we just add a variable that allows the user to make theirs hidden by default? "|hidden=yes" ::Scurve :: 23:17, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- You don't need two templates. If we could add this line to the beginning of the template, this could be easy to customize: {| class="wikitable collapsible {{#switch: {{{collapsedonload|<noinclude>yes</noinclude>}}} | yes = collapsed | }}" What it does is that it lets the final user write | collapsedonload = yes anywhere in the list and the template will be collapsed by default or if he doesn't, then it will be showing in the first place. I'm not sure whose role it is to edit this kind of template so I'll leave it to expert hands! BadDog 04:43, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Treasure hunt hats
There seems to be a slight bug with them : no matter what I precise (in my case, "no"), they show up as "obtained" on my checklist. HunterCham 11:09, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Fixed Should work now. use all lower case letters Nooch 13:28, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Now a new problem: if you type the lower case item's name, it won't work. Try "treasure hunt hat=yes" for yourself. I also tried to write the individual names of each hat with no success. BadDog 02:58, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- I finally managed to find out how this item works. Check the section below for the details! BadDog 05:20, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Glitch
- First, for whatever reason, the checklist was wiped for me mostly, yet the hats still say yes, had, etc in edit mode, second, since you can't see pyro's last hat, should we make the table smaller? --EvilDeadFan 03:24, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
Okay, apparently, all the parameters got changed by user Fishfingers, probably to prevent confusion. I've been forced to change the documentation in response. Will this be a revert, then? --Superslinger2007 05:44, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
Some names differing from the values to enter in the template
It is written "The names of each hat (thus the name each parameter) are fairly intuitive.". So it seems, but there are hats names in this template that need either a fix, or a precision in the help section. This is to avoid people wondering what might be the correct term used to show up. Since everybody will copy and paste what's written in the template and only change initials to lower case, this is important to note. I have found these hats to have this problem: Pyro's Beanie (you have to type "pyro beanie", without the 's), Détective Noir (which doesn't use the character "é"). As stated on this page too, I have also found that there's a problem with the Treasure Hunt Hat name. Feel free to add any hat you find with this kind of issue! This way, it will save time for some users who read discussion pages! BadDog 03:08, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- This template is used on over 200 user pages; it really isn't worth the effort to check every parameter name and make each one perfectly acceptable to everyone (and then confuse a good number of these users when a switch is made). If you are really stumped, you can just click "edit" at the top and view the correct parameter for the hat you're looking for. -The Neotank (Talk) 03:16, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- I agree, it's a bit too late for a change of parameters now. I shouldn't have said "fix". But I still think it could be a nice addition to the help section. You do have a usage documentation, just after the template where this could be added. I don't see why adding this piece of info would confuse anyone. It's to make this more user-friendly and avoid a loss of time, because searching the several lines of code on the edit page is not what is most practical. To give an example, I'm still trying to figure how to enable the Treasure Hunt hats by the way. I don't know how this "switch" code used works. So a little addition to the usage documentation would be nice. BadDog 03:39, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- I finally found out on another wiki site how this works: the switch lets you put another value, instead of "yes/had/want/...". So basically, if you have unlocked the Bounty Hat, you'd have to write | treasurehat=bounty hat. If you have unlocked another hat, replace the term "bounty hat" with "treasure hat" or "hat of undeniable wealth and respect". Hope this will help some users. BadDog 03:59, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

By the way, you can also note that, regarding 2010 Halloween Masks, you can type "halloween masks=yes" to show you have them all, but also type "scout mask=yes" and so on, to add little icons of each mask like this instead of several BadDog 03:39, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
