Hammer units, also known as HU or Units, are a unit of measurement used by Source Engine games. It is also used to judge the speed of objects and players in-game, mostly for Competitive play. 1 Hammer Unit is the minimum distance the Source Engine can measure.

  • The Map and Props use a scale of 1 foot = 16 Hammer units.
  • The Skybox as it is a 1/16th scale uses a scale of 1 foot = 1 Hammer unit.
  • The Player models use a scale of 1 foot = 12 Hammer units.
  • The speeds are measured in Hammer units per second, using a scale of 1 HU to 16 feet. Thus one Hammer unit per second equals 0.06858 kph or about 0.0426 mph.
