Birthday mode is the successor to the birthday mode in Team Fortress Classic and is activated on servers that have disabled blood. It is used to celebrate a player's birthday, festive occasions or simply for fun.
Like in TFC, TF2 automatically turns birthday mode on when a server's clock hits August 24th, the release date of the original Team Fortress (1996).
Changes include:
- Every player wears a party hat.
- When shot, people bleed balloons.
- When blown to pieces, players explode into streamers and confetti instead of blood, and their gibs turn into presents.
- Whenever a Critical hit is achieved, the sounds of party horns, champagne poppers and people cheering and clapping play instead of the usual Crit sound.
Enablinge
Party mode can be enabled by setting tf_birthday 1
in the server.cfg.
