Easter Egg

tuns gold in darkness!! - http://imgur.com/1GKfT"

Not really, all Metallic-like weapons somehow shine such as the Fists of Steel and The Solemn Vow. --Mardamien24 01:42, 15 July 2011 (PDT)
Yeah, seeing it myself in game, the sheen on the Solemn Vow seems to be a bit excessive, especially considering it is said to be marble, and not solid gold or silver. I don't know what to make of that personally, it might actually be a bug. As pointed out, it uses the same animations as the Saxxy, so it is possible that they used the texture and lighting effects of the Saxxy too, as a matter of convience. However the fact that the Saxxy is gold means that the Solemn Vow glows gold when the Saxxy would. Any second opinions? DJNerd 19:38, 15 July 2011 (PDT)
I forgot that it is made out of Marble. BUT, it seemed to be glossy, unlike other Meele weapons. There is also another weapon with this case, the Your Eternal Reward. It shines in the dark too but is metallic.--Mardamien24 04:28, 16 July 2011 (PDT)
Just bad cubemapping. It also happens sometimes with the Fists of Steel. If Source can't handle glassy, shiny textures, Valve and the community should stop making them... Balladofwindfishes 05:32, 16 July 2011 (PDT)
True, it should have some sheen on it, as marble is slightly reflective by nature. It just seems excessive in game, especially because it is white and yet glows gold. With metallic weapons, it is understandable, any metal shines when polished, but in the dark, they shouldn't. It is minor with the Fists of Steel, Your Eternal Reward, and some others, but with the Solemn Vow, it clearly glows. It probably shouldn't be listed as a bug, but it is still interesting to note. Morbid Marotte to come?

Not really a thing about the Solemn Vow itself, but there's a lot of SPUF talk on making this happen. Essentially, it'd be the Spy's head on a pedestal as an alternate variant of the bust. I figure I should leave a note about it here, since I'm fairly certain Robin and the rest of the TF2 team might fall in love with the soon-to-be models that will grace the Contribute site. And it might become a thing in-game. Thoughts on this? OB2KoMario 12:35, 27 June 2011 (PDT)

Talk pages aren't a forum. Keep the discussion on the Steam forums please. Emailing Valve is the best way to get their attention, not posting on a discussion page. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 12:41, 27 June 2011 (PDT)
Don't add it to the article Balladofwindfishes 12:41, 27 June 2011 (PDT)

No downsides?

This is probably already the second medic's melee weapon that has advantages over stock bonesaw, but completely no downsides (following amputator). Do you also think it's unfair? Xeoxer 05:59, 28 June 2011 (PDT)

Talk pages are for discussions related to the article. Head over to the Steam Forums for balance talk. — User nVis s.png 06:11, 28 June 2011 (PDT)

Taunt issues

I just watched the Solemn Vow Demonstration Video, and I think there are more issues than the single issue listed in the bugs section.

First, it clips with Medic's hand at the beginning and at the end of the taunt, as his hand turns, but the weapon does not. The grip therefore clips straight through the Medic's fingers. Finally, as Medic's hand is no longer griping the weapon but do violin fingerings underneath the statue, so it is just floating there above his hand.

I want to add these to he bugs section, but I don't want to be too hasty, just incase these bugs were fixed, and the video hasn't been updated yet. Or because there are so many issues, that only one should be listed to keep from crowding up the page. Can anyone help me out? DJNerd 07:40, 6 July 2011 (PDT)

BUG fixed, Kill icon

just a random heads up that the kill icon was fixed, so i removed that bit from the bug section! Gamecrazy009 20:03, 5 August 2011 (PDT)

Trivia Section?

I saw a thread on SPUF about the reason why the solemn vow requires 8 jarate. It says because "Hippocrates was the first proponant of urine therapy." Should we add to a trivia section that the crafting recipe was inspired by this? NitromathThePizzaGuy 22:59, 16 August 2011 (PDT)

It's cute and interesting, but was removed. It's just a coincidence. Speculation, no matter how humorous/likely/interesting, until proven factual. No exceptions to this rule, I'm afraid. Get word from Valve, heck yeah. I personally, KNOW it had to have been on purpose but rules is rules and if you don't follow the trivia guide, you just end up with this sort of hideous trivia section. --SilverHammer 23:02, 16 August 2011 (PDT)
Ah, thanks for the trivia guide. I'm kinda new here. :P

Quote

I thought I was conforming to the quotation guidelines by changing this article's quote to use the publicity blurb, which is a direct reference to the item. Any particular reason why the current quote should be used over that, other than personal opinion? It's a good quote and fits the item pretty well (better than a lot of the quotes, I have to say), but I thought we were supposed to be using stuff from the TF website and other official sources whenever possible.
