Obtaining Scarechievements

Attack o' Lantern Cause the deaths of 5 players by exploding nearby pumpkin bombs. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: Try to get several of the enemies grouped together, as the bomb will do severe damage to all of them. The bombs will usually kill any class except a Heavy or Soldier in one solid hit. Keep your sights on pumpkin bombs near the busier areas such as by spawns and near the middle cap. Bombs located strategically around corners are also good for surprising pursuers.

Candy Coroner Collect 20 Halloween pumpkins from dead players to unlock a hat. Reward: Mildly Disturbing Halloween Mask Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: This achievement is rather sporadic so patience is the main requirement. There is roughly a 1/8 chance of a Halloween pumpkin being dropped by a player upon death. Remember that you can pick up pumpkins regardless of who killed the unfortunate victim that dropped it. If you're fast enough, you can even pick up candy that you dropped when you died yourself. Playing as a Scout may let you snatch those elusive pumpkins before slower classes can reach them. The pumpkins will also give you a short burst of Crits, which can be used to kill any nearby players and steal any other pumpkins they may drop.

Costume Contest Kill a Spy disguised as your current class. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: This one is going to take some luck if you plan on getting it without help. Spycheck anyone of your class with extreme prejudice. Remember: It only has to be your class, not your name. Common Spy disguises to watch out for if you are playing the class are the Pyro, Sniper and Demoman. Note that unlike most of the other Scarechievements, this achievement can be completed on any map, not just the event version of Harvest.

Ghastly Gibus Grab Dominate a player wearing any achievement Gibus hat to earn your own Ghastly Gibus. Difficulty: Varies depending on opponent How to obtain: Pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Pick out a player with the hat and alter your tactics specifically to kill him. Watch him carefully and be cautious about your health and surroundings. Note that unlike most of the other Scarechievements, this achievement can be completed on any map, not just the event version of Harvest. This achievement can be earned at any time of the year, not just during the Halloween event period.

Scared Stiff Kill a player scared by a ghost. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: The ghost wanders the map frequently along set routes, and though easy to avoid, players often stumble into him before fleeing in terror, especially when it moves through busy areas such as the center point. Wait for some helpless enemy to be scared, (the words "Yikes!" should appear over their head and they will exude ghost icons) then quickly finish them off in the few seconds you have before they recover. Attacks that finish opponents off quickly are your best bet, such as rockets, grenades and backstabs. Be careful not to be scared by the ghost yourself when attempting this.

Sleepy Holl0WND Kill the Horseless Headless Horsemann. Reward: Horseless Headless Horsemann's Head Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: The Headless Horsemann is a very tough enemy, and will require both teams to work together to take him down quickly. When he spawns, he will spawn at the point that is being contested at the time, and mark a nearby player is "it". When a player is "it" they will have a skull and crossbones over their head, unless that player makes another player "it" by hitting them with a Melee weapon. The Horsemann can kill any player in one hit, so make it a priority to run if you are it. So long as you dealt damage to the Horsemann and you are alive when he dies, you will get the achievement. Be careful of the enemy team as well, as they can still damage and kill you when the Horsemann is on his rampage.

Gored! Collect the Horseless Headless Horsemann's Haunted Metal Scrap. Difficulty: Hard How to obtain: This achievement also requires you to kill the Headless Horsemann, but you must land at least one melee hit on him as well before he dies. When you try to hit him with a melee weapon, make sure there are plenty of others nearby, or else he will quickly target you and kill you before you can get away. You will also likely take damage from the other team as they try to damage him as well, so be careful. Two classes that are good for doing this are the Scout (since he can bat the Horsemann once and quickly run away) and the Spy (who does large amounts of damage with a Backstab). Another option might be to have a Medic Übercharge you, as you will still be invulnerable to his attacks when the charge is active. If you die after hitting him with a melee weapon, you must hit him again to earn the achievement.

Masked Mann Collect a Soul Gargoyle in Mann Manor. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: Occasionally on the Mann Manor map, a gift box will spawn on the map (when this happens, all players will get an alert telling them a gift has spawned. The gift will be randomly placed on the map, and the first person to find and grab it will be awarded with a random Halloween Mask, along with the Achievement. Consider being a Scout to quickly search areas for where the gift may have potentially spawned when it does.

Sackston Hale Craft the Saxton Hale Mask. Difficulty: Hard How to obtain: To craft the Saxton Hale Mask, you must craft all nine varieties of the standard Halloween Mask together. The only way to obtain Halloween masks is to either find them in Haunted Halloween Gifts, or to trade for them. If you get any Masks that you already have from a gift, you can trade for one you don't have if the other player is willing to. Aside from trading, you will just have to keep finding Halloween gifts on the Mann Manor map until you have all nine varieties of the mask.
