Hitscan

A hitscan weapon does not spawn a projectile entity or prop. Instead, it traces a line in the direction the player is aiming, checks if something is in the line's path, and causes damage or effects accordingly. In practice, they have an instant effect that cannot be seen. Merely aiming at the target will cause a hit. Some hitscan weapons also require the target to be within a certain range, such as with Melee Weapons. There may also be a short day between entering the command to fire and having the scan occur, to better sync with the weapon graphics.
