Merge

As PLR is a variant of Payload and not really a separate game mode, and since its content is most relevant to the article Payload, now that it has merged with Carts, it seems like a sensible decision to merge the two articles. At the moment, Payload Race is quite small in size, but if its content begins to expand in the future then it is fairly easy to split it off into a separate article again. seb26 [talk] 05:18, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Pictogram plus.png Support I presume it would remain a separate entity on Template:Maps nav, if so then I support. -RJ 21:13, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Pictogram minus.png Oppose Might as well merge KotH with CP because they both have points to capture. -Shine[] 01:48, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
??? Not comparable at all. The merge isn't about that they both have a cart, it's that they both have very similar objectives, in fact they are almost the same. Given the size of the current PLR article and the fact that it only has two maps, it'd be better off merged into Payload. seb26 [talk] 06:31, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
PL vs. PLR: push cart
Differences: both teams attack and defend at the same time, carts don't go backwards (except on slopes)
KotH vs. Arena: cap point
Differences: no respawing in arena, control point can be recaptured
I just don't see how PL and PLR are any more similar than Arena and KotH. (yeah, i know I compared it to CP last time, but that didn't make sense). -Shine[] 07:11, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
You still don't see? Even though your comparison pretty much states it in black and white? Arena, KOTH & CP are all totally different ball games, but PL & PLR – the only thing that really differs is that both teams can push the cart.
Putting that aside, having the current Payload Race article stand alone doesn't make sense when you consider its size, the amount of PLR maps, and the fact that Carts was recently merged into the article as well. If in the future there are more maps and more material to cover on PLR then it can be split off into its own article again. seb26 [talk] 07:35, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Pictogram plus.png Support - weak - I say we merge it for now, and when PLR takes off and more maps are made and gameplay becomes more complex, we split them.--Focusknock 10:19, 30 September 2010 (UTC) Pictogram plus.png Support I don't think the comparison to Arena/KotH is very apt. Those are two very distinct gameplay modes whose only similarity is the Capture Point. Even then, the Capture Point is optional in Arena. Instead it might be better to consider Attack/Defend and Control Point. The Maps template at the bottom of the page divides the maps as though they were different modes, but both lead to the Control Point page, with Attack/Defend being a subsection of that page. The only difference between Control Point and Attack/Defend is that in Attack/Defend has only BLU capturing the points, whereas Control Point has both teams trying to capture points. To me, that is exactly the difference between Payload and Payload Race. Instead of just BLU pushing a cart, both teams must push their own cart. Any further gameplay differences are either succinct enough to summarize in a single paragraph or two, or pertain to individual maps themselves and should therefore appear on the maps' respective pages. --Alex2539 18:25, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
