Is this necessary?

If the item is unreleased, why does it require a page? Vide0n 21:54, 21 June 2012 (PDT)

  • Rescinded, just read the latest blog post. :p Vide0n 02:22, 22 June 2012 (PDT)

Name

It's called the scorch shot and I suggest we change the name of the page. Footlesssushi 13:07, 26 June 2012 (PDT)

When this subject was previously brought up, most users preferred that the "The" should be dropped out of the weapon's names. That's how it has been since.  –  Epic Eric (T | C) 16:28, 26 June 2012 (PDT)

Weapon Description

I'm thinking something like "appears to be an improvised flare gun crudely made from scrap metal parts." Does that seem accurate? Is a more detailed description appropriate? The Grand Karkasmolen 06:42, 27 June 2012 (PDT)

No, it looks more like the average flare gun, rather than being improvised. Jman514 06:27, 28 June 2012 (PDT)

Scorch Shot Reserve?

Hey, I got the weapon and want to do the demo video, I'll follow what's expected and the guidelines and i'll show off what It does.

Mechanic of the flare

I'm not sure the best way to word this, so I'm not going to edit the page directly, but the flare works quite uniquely on this gun. The flare it's self, while lighting the target on hit for 15 damage, and knocking them back, the flare isn't destroyed, it bounces off of the player, falls to the ground, and explodes. So the explosion / light others on fire is not from the point of impact with a player, but from wherever the tumbling flare ends up. What needs to be tested is if the flare will bounce between players indeffently before exploding, or if on contact with a 2nd player it detonates then. Anyway the result of it is you can double hit someone if they are near a wall, 15 from the contact, and another 15 from the resulting explosion as they wouldn't be knocked back far enough. --Org 01:35, 28 June 2012 (PDT)

The description of the mechanic is rather confusing right now. I do not know how it works exaclty, but we really need to work on that. I'll look into it myself if I have the opportunity. Remember to use the replay function to get a closer look at what happens. K-Raider NL 06:43, 10 November 2012 (PST)

Achievements

Does this weapon give you the "kill an enemy with a taunt" achievement if you, you know, kill an enemy with its taunt? ==Fax Celestis talkcontribhome 08:25, 28 June 2012 (PDT)

Can be used to flare jump

I just tried this today and it is possible. It feels smalller than a detonator jump to me but that may just be me. It also causes self damage so that should be added to the Damage and function times chart. I don't know how you guys do all the testing or how to format the chart but I'm willing to help if I can.

Tauntkill

Not sure of the actual range on it, but if it's close enough to the enemy, the taunt will kill (or at least hit for 400 damage). TheChrisD RantsEdits 03:30, 29 June 2012 (PDT)

  • I also think it should be worth noting that this taunt lasts roughly 3 seconds, and appears to be completely silent. The range seems to be pretty good. I'm not to experienced in counting by 'hammer units', but it was roughly 75% of the flamethrower's range by my very rough estimate. Otherwise, it does the same damage as the Flare Gun User:Darasiv 9:34, 29 June 2012 (PDT)

Not only misleading but plain wrong.

The scorch shot can most certainly be used for explosive jumping, it only goes a little higher than a double-jump but it's definitely possible. Why wasn't this tested before being thrown on the wiki?

Hyderomastgroningem 07:39, 30 June 2012 (PDT)

  • I added a sentence about its ability to be used to flare jump in the description but it was removed. Bones6122 12:22, 30 June 2012 (PDT)

Projectile

I've removed the notice and added the flare gun's projectiles - they are the same model. The only thing different is the particle effect of the scorch shot's projectile, how would you show this effectively in an image? Pigophone 01:30, 13 July 2012 (PDT)
