This is a list of the default controls for the PC version of Team Fortress 2. All keys are user-definable in the game Options, via the Developer Console or using scripts.

Movement

"w": Move forward

"s": Move back

"a": Move left (Strafe)

"d": Move right (Strafe)

"SPACE": Jump

"CTRL": Duck (Crouch)

" ' ": Swim up (i.e. apostrophe. Rarely used.)

"/": Swim down (Rarely used.)

"PGUP": Look up (i.e. "Page Up". Rarely used.)

"PGDN": Look down (i.e. "Page Down". Rarely used.)


Communication

"v": Use voice communication. Speak to players only on your team, provided the Server cvar "sv_alltalk" is set to "0". If set to "1", all players on the server will receive your voice chat.

"y": Chat message. Text chat to all players on the server, including Spectators.

"u": Team message. Text chat to players only on your team.

"z": Voice Menu 1

"x": Voice Menu 2

"c": Voice Menu 3

"e": Call for a Medic

"MOUSE2": DEMOMAN: Detonate Stickybombs

"MOUSE2": HEAVY: Spin Minigun Barrel

"MOUSE2": MEDIC: Deploy ÜberCharge (Also deploys Kritzkrieg.)

"MOUSE2": SNIPER: Zoom Sniper Rifle (Also zooms Sydney Sleeper.)

"MOUSE2": SPY: Cloak/Uncloak

"b": SPY: Last Disguise

"-": SPY: Toggle Disguise Team (i.e. minus key. Used while holding the Disguise Kit)


("MOUSE2" also used by:

  • the Scout to launch the baseball,
  • the Pyro to fire the Airblast,
  • the Engineer to rotate and redeploy buildings.)


Combat

"MOUSE1": Primary attack

"r": Reload weapon

"MWHEELUP": Previous weapon

"MWHEELDOWN": Next weapon

"q": Last weapon used

"1": Weapon category 1. Normally the Primary weapon.

"2": Weapon category 2. Normally the Secondary weapon.

"3": Weapon category 3. Normally the Melee weapon.

"4": Weapon category 4. Used by the Engineer (to create Buildings) and the Spy (for disguising).

"5": Weapon category 5. Used by the Engineer (to destroy Buildings).

"6": Weapon category 6. Use unknown/undefined.

"7": Weapon category 7. Use unknown/undefined.

"8": Weapon category 8. Use unknown/undefined.

"9": Weapon category 9. Use unknown/undefined.
