Actually, if you go to tf2items Item list (http://www.tf2items.com/allitems.php), they are NOT the same as the Axtinguisher. You may want to change that.Borg184 00:02, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Droppable?
This seems like a rather must-have item for it to be only available by pre-ordering a $50 game which costs $15/mo. Are we sure that it won't drop or be craftable? I don't think any other promotional items have been obtainable outside of the promotion, right? Pez 00:15, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- We don't know yet. —Moussekateer·talk 00:16, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- I'd think it'd almost have to be seeing as it has unique stats. But who knows. Sage J. Fox 00:19, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

- The promo item loses it's genuine quality when you trade it so it will be same value as one that you can craft later on, unfortunatly. Turtlebolt 06:12, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- Not true, read the sitenotice at the top of the site. —Moussekateer·talk 06:13, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing that out I read on a different page that you would lose the genuine quality which seemed silly in the first place. Turtlebolt 06:23, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- Not true, read the sitenotice at the top of the site. —Moussekateer·talk 06:13, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- So no drops, only crafting and trading, and only genuine quality if pre-ordered. That's what it seems to be to me, and I don't care if it drops, it's useless without infinite afterburn. Mssive Mountain of Hat 01:33, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- It makes sense that it would not be drop able with its ridiculous cost to craft. This will function as a good metal outlet to combat refined inflation. That is until everyone has crafted them for personal use! Turtlebolt 03:48, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Eternal flames?
I've tested this weapon out, and when I hit anyone, the afterburn seems to last forever. I even tested this out on a Heavy, and it went for over 40 seconds before he died from it. Is there an actual end to this afterburn (aside from the other options of getting rid of it, such as Medkits, Medics, etc), or is it just really long? AbeX300 00:41, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- Seems to be a bug at the moment. Jenkson 02:16, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe it was meant to be that way? You do get them by buying a $50 game... Vetterlinj 03:40, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Vetterlinj
- But then you are able to craft it sometime during the pre-order period. AbeX300 03:51, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- But maybe its only with Genuine? why not make them Vintage? Why create a whole new title?Vetterlinj 04:12, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Vetterlinj
- Well before Genuine was added, there were 3 unused qualities, Genuine being the former rarity2. Obviously Valve decided to finally put one of the 3 into use. I'm starting to wonder if all promotional items will gain Genuine quality. 404 User Not Found 16:29, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Are we for sure its a "Bug"?
After all, the description does say "On Hit: target is engulfed in flames" instead of "On Hit: target is ignited".
I believe this was an intentional feature of the axe, given that it is made from lava and does not spew/cause fire like the Flamethrower(s)/Flare Gun so much as just giving the target a very, very bad burn. --KajiVena of TheVille 20:33, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- It's most likely a bug. -- En Ex (talk) 20:37, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- It may be Valve experimenting with ways of increasing Fire's potential and letting the Pyro rely on Afterburn more. --KajiVena of TheVille 20:44, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- An infinite afterburn, with no ways to be extinguished by friendly Engies/Medics sounds a lot like a bug to me. Besides, Valve has the public Beta to test such things.--Kid Of The Century 10:33, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
Why is my trivia deleted?
I made a trivia edit saying that the ends of the weapon glow in the dark, which I thought would be trivia material. Now it's gone. What happened? Is it not trivial enough?
Jenkson 19:11, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
- Some idiot edited it down to practically nothing, and since his work was sup-par at best and nobody wanted to undo it, I just got rid of it. Honestly don't think it was needed anyways, we have a separate page for defining self-illuminated stuff. Sorry about that. :/ -- Henry Spencer 19:14, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
- Well this 'idiot' did not see the point of a big long list of things that glowed in the first place, especially since the category was on the page anyway. My wiki cap laughs at your 'sub-par' jibe and quite frankly I don't care if people wanted to undo it or not. So suck up and tough up, sweetie. :)--Focusknock 19:21, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
- Someone else (i.e. not you) edited his stuff out, and instead of reverting it, I just took the rest off. His name isn't showing up on the list, for some reason, but I appreciate you waving your ego around. :) -- Henry Spencer 19:48, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
- FYI, Wiki cap =/= ego. It's proof that I'm good at editing this wiki, which is what I was trying to say in rebuttal to your comment. Nice to see you taking a 'them and us' approach to wiki caps, though. Maybe you're just jelly, as they say?--Focusknock 19:43, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Afterburn (bugs)
Isn't it that all burn/afterburn kills display as melee kills (whatever melee weapon you are using)? As it is now it says that the primary weapon is shown. Which is not the case as far as I know.
Hassun 21:32, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
Name Color
As far as I know, the name of the genuine item displays in an olive green color and not black. Does anyone have an updated image for the page? --Smashdaisaku 00:23, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- Ctrl-F5 the page a few times, it's a cache thing. —Moussekateer·talk 00:25, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Only extinguished by...?
Currently it says: "The afterburn caused by this weapon lasts for an extended period of time and is not extinguished by extensive healing from a Medic or a friendly Dispenser. Currently, only Health kits, thrown Sandviches and Buffalo Steak Sandviches, the Medi Gun's ÜberCharge, and Resupply Cabinets can extinguish the fire. " But what about water and airblasts? They both have the ability to extinguish normal fire, but they should be listed in either the cannot or the can list. It might seem to obvious that they can do it, but Huntsman arrows also burn underwater, so if someone could test it, cause I have no idea how weapon editing works... PredatorDuck 15:17, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- Since the weapon is quite rare most of us cannot test it properly. I asked Shugo if he could do te test; he said yes but no news so far. I suppose the best thing is to wait until it's craftable (I still believe its current behavior is bugged though).--Kid Of The Century 17:45, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- I also think it's a bug, but to remain on topic, thanks for asking him, I hope he can reply soon. PredatorDuck 21:36, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Afterburn damage?
It might be a good idea to test out whether or not the Degreaser affects the afterburn damage of this weapon, whenever someone has time and the weapon. -Tribor 22:35, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- Does the deagrease affect the afterburn of the flare gun? If no, then It would not affect this I would think. Freq. 04:05, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Misc crafting Q's.
What time will we be able to start crafting it? I know it's after the Rift pre-purchase, but will there be an exact time?
How will we find out how to craft it? Will TF2 wiki just know automagically? or will everyone have to find out?
Lastly, What do you guys think we will have to use to craft it? my best guess is an axtinguisher and some metal..... (like two reclaimed, or maybe even a refined!)
--Punisher1565 01:18, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Punisher1565
- We don't know anything you don't (for the most part). You'll find out the same time as other editors on the wiki. As for your guesses, that sort of discussion is more suitable for the Steam forums. —Moussekateer·talk 01:23, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Crafting
Anyone want to make some guesses as to the crafting recipe? My guess is something like Axtinguisher+Backburner/Degreaser, unless they go the Scotsman's Skullcutter route and make it make absolutely no sense. Still waiting for Valve to actually end the preorder period and make the weapons tradeable and craftable, so I figured I might as well do something to pass the time. --Trogdorbad 22:16, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- Knock yourself out here. This isn't a forum sorry. —Moussekateer·talk 22:18, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- Are those crafting requirements confirmable? Because that's kind of ludicrous. I mean, if that's legit, this is the most difficult weapon in the game to craft. Aradraugfea 01:15, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- They are quite legit. People who have used that recipe have gotten the Fragment. Yes, it is a difficult weapon to craft, hopefully Valve will make a simpilar recipe for it, like the one for the Sun-on-a-Stick. Nihilus0(contribs) 01:19, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Freaking ick. The weapon's not even amazing. Just has good Medieval mode synergy with the Sun on a Stick. Thanks for answering the question, though. Aradraugfea 01:45, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
So is the promotion period not truly over?
It is released for the US now, but I assume we have to wait until THE WORLD gets Rift released (which is March 4th)? Because I haven't heard of anyone crafting a Sharpened Volcano Fragment or a Sun-on-a-Stick yet. AbeX300 22:31, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- My bet is they'll make a patch first, then we'll see the new recipes. GeminiViRiS Talk Contribs 22:33, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- That seems logical to me; an update that includes the crafting blueprints. After all, it is probable that someone would have crafted the weapons by now if the blueprints were already available, as many people seem to have been experimenting. Unless Valve can lock them and unlock blueprints when they choose, of course. Esquilax 22:38, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- They don't have to update the game to introduce crafting recipes, perhaps the recipe is now in? Seems likely to me. – Smashman (talk) 22:42, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- Although RIFT is still preorderable on Steam, no, I retract my last statement although it's true that they don't need to update the game. – Smashman (talk) 22:45, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough, and you could be correct. However with the amount of experimentation that (allegedly) commenced when the clock in the US indicated that it was 1 March, I would have assumed that someone would have discovered the recipe by now if it were enabled. Perhaps as you suggest, they just have to add the recipe? Either way, I think I'll stop making assumptions and just wait patiently ;). Esquilax 22:49, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
Craft recipe
Now that the Fragment has a craft recipe, it's time we added it. My guess is 3 reclaimed and a Axtinguisher. I'm going to go check. Mr. Wii 00:14, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Recipe is ref + degreaser + powerjack. seems like it should have used an axtinguisher tho.. Turtlebolt 03:58, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

damage done moved to -80%?...btw sorry bout that editing mishap if you saw it...--Awesome Weegee 07:36, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

- Oh i see, looks like they reversed it and put it in red ruling out the whole minus thing. am i right? --Awesome Weegee 08:07, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Crafting Recipe Error?
I spent around 10 refined worth of items crafting pyro melee weapons. I didn't have much luck and only got 3 Mauls out of it, but I got 0 Shapened Volcano Fragments. Based on this, I think it's rather unlikely that this weapon can be crafted using that recipe (Pyro Token + Melee Token + Scrap). Can anyone confirm or deny this? Gannon 18:28, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not sure about that but a quick calculation shows you should have had a 99% chance of getting at least one by the end of all that crafting. Perhaps you were extremely unlucky? —Moussekateer·talk 18:40, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- You can roll a dice 10 times and never get a six; you were just unlucky. Incidentally, in this case (1 in 6 chance of crafting Sharpened Volcano Fragment) the chances of not getting one after 10 attempts is 33.48%, so I don't where that 99% chance of getting one came from. --Cooper Kid (Blether · Contreebs) 01:53, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
- No, I used 10 refined worth of tokens and scrap, which is 180 weapons. Each attempt uses 7 weapons, so it was like 25 attempts. I don't believe the melee slot recipe works for these Rift weapons unless someone can confirm that it worked for them. They have their own unique recipes, unlike other promo weapons. Gannon 06:25, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough, it's still possible that you were just unlucky, but it would be nice to have some definite proof that they work. I've used the tokens to try and get the Maul too, and I've never found the volcano Fragment either. --Cooper Kid (Blether · Contreebs) 12:25, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

Kill Icon
I think that there was a different kill icon if you killed a pyro or someone underwater or with a crit. can someoen double check? (I'm at school! Shhh!) Nibelhim 07:01, 27 September 2011 (PDT)
- There is no different kill icon. Balladofwindfishes 10:16, 5 October 2011 (PDT)
