Annoyance
I'm not a fan of this new youtube embedding method. It's never inline with the text. It's pretty annoying. Anyone agree? I'd rather the embed be inline than as a thumb on the side. -- Smashman... (t • s) 21:12, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- I'd have to agree. -- En Ex 21:14, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, looked better on the old Wiki, if you look here, it's difficult to get it to look nice. -Firestorm 21:15, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- And I'm not a fan of the box and description thing. -- Smashman... (t • s) 21:17, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, don't see a point, the page will probably describe it anyway. Perhaps the {{youtube tn}} template has the box but the {{youtube}} one does not -Firestorm 21:20, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- It does, but I disabled the {{BASEPAGENAME}} description, I felt it unnecessary. Also, SIGN YOUR POSTS BOY. -- Smashman... (t • s) 21:25, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Widescreen
With most of the videos being embedded with this template being in 720p, maybe it's time that the embed code was changed to a widescreen player? TheChrisD Rants•Edits 20:58, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Old-style embeds
I noticed that this wiki is generating old-style embeds. (Go to a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h42d0WHRSck) and click for the embed links, toggle old-style on and off.) This method forces flash so users never benefit from the HTML5 player. It is really annoying for users that don't have flash (like myself).
If I am correct you are using the embed video plugin from here: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:EmbedVideo. This uses the new-style embeds so I can only think that the plugin is out of date. Could that be updated? If it can't I could update the template to do all of the same things in a jiffy (seeing as it is youtube only anyway). You can't write a template because you are not allowed to create iframes from wiki pages. The plugin will need to be updated.

- Yea we don't have server access and Valve take approximately 2.5 years to update anything wiki-related so don't expect it in the near future! —Moussekateer·talk 16:38, 22 November 2012 (PST)
- I figured it would be something like that :( How would one let valve know about our hopes and dreams so that in a couple of years we can enjoy the "modern web" :P Kevincox 16:49, 22 November 2012 (PST)
- By the way, if anyone else is having this problem I created a work around via firefox addon. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/youtube-object2iframe/ . I don't know if it bothers anyone else enough to install the addon, but if it does, there is your solution. Kevincox 14:28, 10 December 2012 (PST)
Subtitles
Is there a way to make it automatically select a specific subtitle track?--Henke37 (talk) 09:34, 18 June 2014 (PDT)
