Need pictures
This article badly needs some pictures. In many other articles where a Hammer unit is mentioned I, and I'm sure most readers, have no idea whether 500 HU is a long or short distance. Moussekateer 03:41, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
"1/12th of a foot"?
Is there any particular reason the article reads "1/12th of a foot" instead of "an inch"? Toomai Glittershine 18:01, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Metric?
Not everyone here understands Feet and inches, how about Metric Equivalents added as well? Nutter 16:43, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- I calculated the approximate real-world equivalent working backwards from the mph values of the Rocket Launcher, Direct Hit, and Liberty Launcher. All of them came out to about one-sixteenth of a foot, which is the same as three-quarters of an inch and 19.05 millimeters. Hope that helps. Ledzepmtg 11:25, 10 October 2011 (PDT)
Other Wikis
I think that the contents of this page should really just be replaced by the otherwikis template. The page is a stub, and the Hammer Editor and Source SDK pages both link to the valve developer wiki instead of trying to explain it here on this wiki. Scatmanjohn 16:57, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- I agree saves us the work and we get accurate measurments. Tryer 18:20, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- Agree I think we should link to the Valve Developer wiki as well. I have that page already in my "Source/TFwiki" bookmarks folder :) Ventus 18:21, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Project Excelsior / Operation High Dive Contradiction?
According to the achievements 'Project Excelsior' for Soldier and 'Operation High Dive' for Demoman, each with the completion task of "parachute 19.47 miles", the statistics page lists that the distance needed to complete these achievements while using the BASE Jumper is 1,233,619 HUs (Hammer Units). A mile is 5,280 feet exactly, so by doing a bit of derivative math:
Miles to Total Feet
- 5280 × 19.47 = 102,801.6
Hammer Units per Foot
- 1223619 ÷ 102801.6 = 11.9999980545... ≈ 12
A Hammer Unit in-game, as defined by the people at Valve with these achievements, is equal to approximately 1/12th of a foot (not 1/16th as the Wiki page insists) or almost precisely equal to a single inch in the real world. There rests the possibility that these figures aren't entirely accurate, but I trust official data first and foremost as opposed to a Wiki that can be edited by anyone at any time. - Gregorius (talk) 22:00, 29 August 2014 (PDT)
