User Boxes
I have done a major clean out of my old (early) sandbox. I wanted to discuss the user boxes (below) that I had been fiddling with here for a while. Perhaps no one has noticed them, but in case some have, my concern is that some may see them as offensive, which means they probably are, so probably should be deleted, but before delete them I want to address any concern. First, if they express any sentiments, they are not any sentiments I have, other than a sense of humor. Second, if you think I was being critical or complaining, please consider that I wasn’t, I just wanted to make Class-based-editing puns.
I want this to be very clear: I have no problems whatsoever with any of the experienced active users (or any users for that matter). Studying the actions of User:Ashes, User:Moussekateer, User:Omolong, User:TidB, User:Hinaomi, etc, is invaluable to learning this wiki's style. Editors such as these have been responsive and just to all; and been helpful to me personally.
I have posted the other Class-based editing user boxes I thought non-confrontational. Now, the one’s below, I thought were funny wordplays; but I’m afraid they are toxic and I should be rid of them, but I wanted anyone who thought I was complaining through these, that I most certainly was not.
- After chatting with a couple of editors, I considered that these could be moderated somewhat with some simple word changes.
This one might be OK to keep? Actually, Ashes and Omolong pretty much beat the rest of us to this, but that just gives the rest of us the chance to step up and be the offerers of helpful advice.
- Change "bad edit" to "typo"?
This user found two of every kid of typo ... herded them on to an editor ... and then he beat the crap out of every single one. |
- Better, this way I can use this one now.

I just love the musical lilt of Soldier's lines in this part of the original video.
Maybe a change of editing to grammar (as above)? Much less personal? Folk rarely get reverted for bad grammar. Who really cares these days about having their grammar corrected?
The idea here was to edit in an undo button under the crosshairs. but even as is, it's toxic.

- A bit less personal now?
This Game Wiki Editor's Prayer
As I sit to type, I utter this self-admonishing prayer:
- Very, very few edits to any game wiki will feed, clothe, or comfort anyone or anything except egos. I pray to minimize my self-absorption and sloth and that I not compound my sins with jealousy and/or anger over game wiki edits.
Loving games is easy, even thieves, murders, and haters love games. How much more glorious is it to love something that does not give such immediate, easy pleasure?
