Engineer match-ups (Classic)
“You are so small! Is funny to me!” This article is a stub. As such, it is not complete. You can help Team Fortress Wiki by expanding it. |
Class | Strategy | ||
---|---|---|---|
Engineer |
vs | Scout (match-ups) |
The Scout is a very easy pick for an Engineer, due to the firepower of his Sentry Gun and the capability of his Double-Barrel Shotgun. If you see a Scout, however, kill him as soon as possible, as he may be making out with your Intelligence. |
Engineer |
vs | Sniper (match-ups) |
The Sniper is a very good class for dealing with an Engineer and his Buildings. A Sniper will generally stay out of range of the Sentry Gun, becoming a serious threat. His Sniper Rifle makes for a really strong weapon, making it automatically good for taking out Buildings. If a Sniper targets your Buildings, he may try to headshot you, so you can not repair your buildings. If you do get targeted, a useful tactic would be to call him out or try to suppress him with your Double-Barrel Shotgun. |
Engineer |
vs | Soldier (match-ups) |
A Soldier should not be taken lightly, and due to his large health pool and major firepower, he should be eliminated as soon as possible. The Soldier can decimate any of your Buildings. He will probably start with your Sentry Gun, because the Sentry Gun is the only thing that is capable of defending itself. If possible, defend your Sentry Gun and suppress him with your Double-Barrel Shotgun. Get help from your team, and you can eliminate him easily. |
Engineer |
vs | Demoman (match-ups) |
Just like the Soldier, the Demoman should not be left alone. He is a dangerous threat to your Buildings with his Pipebombs and Grenades. His Detpack can also pose a serious threat to Buildings. If so, kill the Demoman as soon as possible, as he can destroy you and your Buildings rather quickly. |
Engineer |
vs | Medic (match-ups) |
A Medic's Super Nailgun can decimate your Sentry Gun rather quickly. However, due to the Medic's low health pool and limited capabilities, it stops him from being a true power class. However, the Medic's Medkit can infect you and your team, and can only be healed by a friendly Medic. The disease spreads by contact, which means the disease will spread from teammate to teammate by touching each other. Kill him while you can, as he can lower your team's health and cause spot-on distractions. |
Engineer |
vs | Heavy (match-ups) |
To an Engineer, a Heavy can just as well decimate all of your Buildings. His powerful Assault Cannon can destroy anything at close range, but is fairly inaccurate from afar. If possible, eliminate the Heavy as soon as possible. Call him out to your team, and suppress him as possible. For an advantage, get some body shots on him while staying in cover. |
Engineer |
vs | Pyro (match-ups) |
The Pyro can be an easy pick for you, but with the firepower and splash damage of her Incendiary Cannon, she can easily take you out. Her Flamethrower can do solid damage to your Sentry Gun. She also is equipped with a Double-Barrel Shotgun. If you see one and she escapes, report her position to your team. You can attempt to follow her, but this will most often fail, as you are leaving your Sentry Gun by itself, and therefore your other Buildings, too. |
Engineer |
vs | Spy (match-ups) |
The Spy should also be an easy pick. If he attempts to make a stab and misses, the Sentry Gun should be there to take him out. However, just because the Spy is weak, doesn't mean he doesn't have an effective counter to your Sentry Gun. A couple of Grenades can destroy your Sentry Gun very quickly. If you think there is a Spy nearby, call for a Pyro or Spy-Check everyone around you. |
Engineer |
vs | Engineer (match-ups) |
You will rarely ever find another Engineer away from his Buildings. If you do, eliminate him and report his position to your team. He could be trying to set up a Teleporter Exit. Nonetheless, an enemy Engineer has no place inside of a friendly base. |
Engineer |
vs | Civilian (match-ups) |
You can not play as the Engineer during Escort mode. |
