La colonna sonora di Team Fortress 2 consiste in 32 tracce musicali differenti. Tutte le tracce sono composte dal direttore del suono della Valve Mike Morasky ed eseguite dalla Valve Studio Orchestra. Le tracce dalla uno alla tre sono incluse nella colonna sonora originale dell' Orange Box. Molte delle canzoni compaiono nei cortometraggi rilasciati da Valve nel corso degli anni.

Quasi tutte le tracce della colonna sonora sono nella lista delle canzoni del Menu Principale.

Pezzi non rilasciati

Diverse traccie compaiono nei video di Incontra la Squadra, e altrove, ma devo essere ancora rilasciate ufficialmente. Tra queste ci sono: l'omaggio a Magnum Force in Incontra il Cecchino e una versione alterata di Rocket Jump Waltz che posso essere sentite in un video degli sviluppatori che mostra la creazione di Viaduct sul Blog Ufficiale di TF2. Un'altra versione di Playing With Danger può essere sentita nella pagina delle pubblicazione della Valve nel video Illustrative Rendering in Team Fortress 2 . Una corta melodia appare nel teaser del aggiornamento dell' Ingegnere, usando una batteria simile a quella in Faster Than a Speeding Bullet.

• "More Gun" è basata sulla canzone degli Wilco "Someone Else's Song".
• La musica è suonata generalmente in blues Mi (standard hex, Mi-Sol-La-La#-Si-Re). The trumpet harmonies frequent towards tritones, and both the Main Theme and "Playing with Danger" are essentially the same song, structured differently with alternate instrumentation. However, in "Playing with Danger," the piano line (which is the same as the wind and brass lines in this song) plays major seconds that resolve to one note, the Aug4 of the scale. With the running bass line being played beneath this, this makes the piano part exceedingly dissonant.

The brass tends to be playing around the 7-6-5 notes a couple of octaves up. Orchestral brass tends to be slightly out of tune (half a semitone too high) to give it that jazzy sound, on guitar you can replicate the effect by playing really high frets, eg:
