Should we make a Poker Night at the Inventory page?
Considering that the Heavy is in it, they made one over at the Sam and Max wiki, so I think it's just a good idea if we have one as well, besides, when the game comes out, it'll be fun to add trivia about the Heavy and how he plays cards(especially since Sasha's gonna be used)! :D --EvilDeadFan 14:38, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- I like how they link the Heavy to this wiki. Also making such a page is not a bad idea. Mitko1239 14:52, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- As of right now, no Poker Night page. But it will definitely be mentioned on the Heavy page. If the Heavy has new Poker Night lines, I'll see what I can do with them and this Wiki. -- En Ex (talk) 11:00, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- We should make a page, or posiable a subtopic on a page about all of the unlocks from the Game MSG_Accent_BABY

I like it. Very good work guys. CANPoo 05:24, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

And i personally do not like it. most interesting thing (patches and news line) is placed too low, huge-ass line of languages is quite a joke and that random site box is erm, not a good idea amigo. On 1280x1024 i have to scroll to read featured article, ergo first look fail. And colours are mad :( Ostrowiak 12:09, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

It's a good step in the right direction if anything. --Focusknock 14:57, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- IMO I think the entire Index/Featured Article and Latest Updates/Did you know... sections are a bit big. The entire front page of the wiki now requires me to scroll side to side to see everything. I recommend condensing that or make the sections themselves scrollable. That way I can just scroll the section instead of scrolling the entire page. --ANormalUsername 05:13, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
One request so that I can sleep at night without having nightmares of duck ghosts attacking me. Make the background color on the div the class images are on white instead of sickly-yellow. Lagg 01:21, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- You are having nightmares with Nineaxis? -- OluapPlayer (t) 01:26, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm. I'll be honest, while I agree the old page could have used something to differentiate from the old wiki, and that a lot of the new stuff looks very polished and pretty. It is a bit messy to the eyes. It feels like too much is going on at once when you first plop on the homepage for the first time, and certain things could be a little more condensed.
Examples: The index is a welcome change, however the links below it do feel a little random and confusing somewhat visually, the updates are less condensed which can be seen as a good think OR a bad thing, and due to a lot of the negative changes, things like the "Did you know" or the "featured article" seem less necessary when they are no longer a focal point to the eye amongst the rest.
Still. It has only just recently surfaced, and as with any wiki, changes can be made. I do agree it is a good start though. :) -- Benjamuffin 09:05, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- Seb, you did a really good job. Right now, my only complaints are: 1) there are two links to the admin page right next to each other and 2) we gotta figure out a spot to put a link to the Team Fortress 2 article. So yeah, other than that, this looks pretty damn nifty! -- En Ex (talk) 11:02, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
I know I'm new, and users on this Wiki seem to have a not so strange dislike for all new users, but I think I'll prove myself valuable eventually. Anyway, a question: if I may be so bold, is there a reason why followed links appear grey on this site? It can make it a little difficult to tell if it is a link at all. Not a major concern, just a question.Subtlefuge 18:45, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
I like the new main page a lot - just a suggestion though; maybe the Administrator link should be replaced with one to Non-player characters instead? Seems odd to give one NPC precedence when you've got others like Saxton Hale? Just a though - Goldenboy 11:31, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- She's the only one with any official gameplay ties or implications. It should stay as is. Subtlefuge 10:21, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Regarding Set Bonuses
Sorry, I'm a bit new to this right now, so I don't know if I'm doing this right in any way, but...
Perhaps we should make separate pages for each of the item set bonuses introduced in the Mann-Conomy update (as well as any additional ones patched in at a later date)? It seems rather unnoticeable at the moment, simply tacked on the hat pages. Randomscripter 18:04, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion, but we already have the Item Sets page. We're probably going to link to it on the main page some time in the future, I think I might put it there now, actually --Firestorm 18:09, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, alright. Just making sure. Randomscripter 20:16, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
Has anyone else made this suggestion?
Most of the time I see a wiki like this, they often have a poll on their main page. It might be interesting to see the opinions of the community. Although some of the questions would probably seem trivial, it is fun to see how many people i.e. prefer to use stock weapons/think the Pyro should get a "Meet the" video before the Medic, has this idea been brought up before?--Karonen 20:49, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- Left 4 Dead wiki has this, I noticed. Normally it's something boring like how is the Passing and have you jizzed for the Sacrifice yet. As we are understandably more awesome, we need polls that are better.--Focusknock 10:32, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps we should make a list of decent poll ideas, then we pick an order to use them? Some ideas I had: Should the Pyro or the Medic get a "Meet the" video first? How do you think the Ellis cap came to be in the TF2 world? (Reference to Bill's Hat) Which class has your favorite hats? (Hats are what make the TF2 world go round) That [Insert Class name here] is a SPY!--Karonen 18:38, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
I agree with you Karonen. It would be very nice with a meet the pyro trailer. In Team Fortress there are loads of people who play the pyro, so I think it will become very popular.Ineedhats 18:47, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- We'd need an Extension and this is something we can't do. Sorry to burst your bubbles but it's almost definitely not going to happen. – Smashman (talk) 18:51, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- Aren't there websites that allow you to make polls on that website? A Link to the website could work if I'm not wrong, but it seems less professional. Danton 13:48, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
I like the idea of adding a poll and have a few ideas. For example; What do the class think respawn is?, Which class should get the next polycoutn pack?, And Finally Is pyro a... (man, women, robot, other). How we going to do the polls, should we make it daily, weekly, or something else? MSG_Accent_BABY
- This is a wiki. Start a thread on the Steam forums if you want that sort of stuff. Moussekateer 23:02, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- I like the idea of polls, I'd support a weekly poll!~PeacekeeperRen 00:18, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
Random Button
Whenever I hit the random page button in the side bar, 7 of 8 times it brings me to a page in some foreign language. Is there any way to code it so that it goes to a page in your selected language (as defined by the main page)? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bro1017 (talk) • contribs)
- We have the code, we're just waiting on JeffLane to install it. So nothing we can do now. Sorry! – Smashman (talk) 17:48, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
some achivments worked wierd for me
Some achivments worked wierd since I went from my C hardware to my E hardware Ex. I lost all of my points in the 1m achivments except medics, I could only achive Texas runner by dying that would result in +1 but I am realy sure that it was about running whit a already created dispenser, teleporter, or sentry. Im not complaining or so but I wonder if any1 else had that problem. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Elkid0 (talk) • contribs)
- The Wiki is not a forum, the issue you're having with achievements has occurred with other people as well. --Firestorm 16:55, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Add a "Tools" section in the Index?
Should there be a "Tools" section for keys, paint, name tags, etc. in the Index area? Specifically the "weapons, hats, game modes" section. Fendermcbender 20:30, 21 October 2010 (UTC)Fendermcbender
- I'm not sure. Considering that we don't have "all that many" as of right now, the page might only work to confuse people. Assuming Valve follows through and adds a few more though, then it would probably be necessary. My only concerns is with having a page potentially on the main screen with little to no content. By that's just my opinion. StarYoshi 22:30, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- Paint, Nametags, Keys, Crates, Giftwrap, and Presents. Seems like enough for me.Spar13 15:45, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- I quickly made a page for Tools. http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Tools I think there are enough tools for them to get a link on the main index. KillerKooK 20:39, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I suppose there's enough right there. Not a bad page, Killer. I don't think its quite ready to be on the main page, as we should probably clean up things such as Trivia, updates on when things such as Keys became tradeable, and notes on how Gift Wrap doesn't "actually exist" in-game yet. But definitely not a bad start at all. StarYoshi 15:14, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Featured article position
I don't know about you, but pretty much every other wiki I've been to has the featured article section at or near the top of the main page. But here, it's at least halfway down the page and can't even be seen without scrolling down. Since there's a lot of stuff competing for prominence on the main page, I'm just wondering why it fell down. Toomai Glittershine 22:14, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- It's less important than the stuff above. Seemed to work. – Smashman (talk) 22:18, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Event banner?
I can't help but feel the Main Page looks a bit bare sometimes; it might be cool to spice it up with an event banner or similar for major events (think Scream Fortress, Engineer Update, etc.). I've thrown together a example for how one could look for Scream Fortress in particular. It's made in such a way that it could easily be written into a table for a variable width layout. If people like it, I'll have a go at creating the Main Page Event template. ~ lhavelund

(talk ▪ contrib) 19:09, 29 October 2010 (UTC) - Having looked up various bits of documentation online, it looks like we have two options.
- 1. Enable less strict HTML guidelines in LocalSettings.php. Pretty self-explanatory, and not recommended by me.
- 2. Add the relevant CSS to Common.css. Can't be abused, and makes sense.
- I've cooked up the relevant markup and style for the latter:
