Robot Hat Trivia
Heyo, Gonna throw this out there but. Robots wearing a specific hat doesn't classify as trivia. Robots are pretty much bots. Anyone on a custom mission can put whatever hat they want on any robot. Also its not trivia material in the matter. It fits more under "Notes" than trivia. Ashes (talk) 23:24, 6 April 2014 (PDT)
- A lot of articles that I've seen have robots in the trivia section, so I just used these articles and implemented into others. Do you wish I put those informations into "Notes"? (Just like the old Bolt Boy?) Thanks for your attention. Gabrielwoj (talk) 06:34, 7 April 2014 (PDT)
- Done. I've moved all the old trivia about robots to a new section "Notes". I'm sorry if I've made it wrong, I just followed up pages that already had robots content, most of those pages were marked as "Trivia", and I've only seen the Bolt Boy as Notes. I've chosen the Trivia section, since there was more pages with it rather than the notes. Future edits about the headgears worn by robots will be added to the Notes. Gabrielwoj (talk) 06:52, 7 April 2014 (PDT)

Overlinking
Apologies for my ignorance but I was wondering what overlinking is. --Atf412 (talk) 08:30, 28 May 2014 (PDT)
- For example: "The Last Breath is a cosmetic item for the Pyro. When worn, the Pyro will have a skull-shaped head." It's having 2 of the same link in a very close area. However, sometimes, external links/see also doesn't count as overlinks (See Bolt Boy, the Bonk Boy is being mentioned above as the normal cosmetic item that was based upon to, and the see also has the Bonk Boy again). But, one of the most overlinks is when a page has a item set, and the external link/see also has the links for each item of the set (with the exception of the page you're currently in). The external link and the item set table is really too close and adding each of the items in the external links is not necessary. ([Example]). No problem to ask, I'm fine with that. :) Gabrielwoj (talk) 08:44, 28 May 2014 (PDT)

Welcoming New Users
Heyo, Although we appreciate that you are welcoming new users, perhaps you may want to tone down on that, especially on new users that have no contributions. Reason is, I just saw that you welcomed a "new user" that turned out to be a spam account. So try to only welcome users that are "actively" editing rather than just making an account and lurking. Ashes (talk) 00:06, 12 June 2014 (PDT)
- Alright, so only users with at least 1 contribution? (EDIT: And sorry for that). ▪ - 07:33, 12 June 2014 (PDT)

- Assuming they don't know the guidelines and other things after 2 years go for it. But if they do, Don't bother. Ashes (talk) 12:31, 12 June 2014 (PDT)
- But they don't have any welcome description on their talk pages (not even the talk page was created on that user). I thought they didn't knew about it, as nobody welcomed the target user. ▪ - 13:09, 12 June 2014 (PDT)

Hey, its me, gsilverleaf. Sorry for messing up the Congo page. I wasn't sure to put it in the action slot category or the new taunts slot. But there is no page for it as I see. I'll try to use preview button more often. Again sorry.
- Alright. You tried to edit something that a template is already defined to. Someone needs to edit the template (and if it's an important thing to put) to support action taunts 1-8. Also, please sign your comment in Discussion and Talk pages using ~~~~. ▪ - 21:07, 23 June 2014 (PDT)

Question.
Greetings, mate.
Well, I seen your user page, and... it's beautiful. I'm wondering if you can teach me someting.
On your page, there's your Soldier. My question is: how did you do to have your Soldier like this (transparent background, you know, with all his cosmetic items, etc) ? I'd really like to have mine like this.
Thanks a lot, mate. Scher2o 10:01, 17 July 2014 (PDT)
I've made on HLMV. I was planing to do a tutorial video for how doing the paint gallery stuff,but I think explaining to you right now doesn't hurt.
You'll need: Source SDK, TF2 Installed, GCFScape and GIMP (I use 2.6.12)
1. Download Source SDK on Steam (and Team Fortress 2);
2. After downloaded, head to Steam/steamapps/Common/Team Fortress 2/bin/;
3. Open dxsupport.cfg (Open with Notepad);
4. Follow this Tutorial for how configure the dxsupport;
5. Get the fire overlay removal, read the information here: Help:HLMV#Program_limitations;
6. After everything done, open GCFScape and extract the models you want. For soldier, cosmetic items are in (materials->models->player->items->soldier), cosmetic items added in recent updats are in (materials->models->workshop->player->items->soldier->...);
6.1. You need to extract the textures (tf2_textures_dir.vpk), the materials and models (both on tf2_misc_dir.vpk);
7. After you finished that part, you open HLMV;
8. Go on the file tab, and "Load Model";
9. Load Soldier model (I suggest you load the HWM version);
10. On the bottom, go to "Sequence" and select an animation;
11. If you want to put cosmetics, weapons and such, go on the tab above and click "Load Weapon" (Weapon is any model, not necessary weapons on the game);
11.1. (Some items have no $color2 on the .vmt, so you'll need to put manually the $color2 the same as the $colortint_base), then save this .vmt in the custom folder of your TF2;
12. After loading everything, you can Shift + Left Click to move the character, using Right Click to zoom in, going on the corner of the image (until a yellow circle appears) to rotate the character. Control + Click to change the lighting.
13. You can edit the facial flex, this part may take a while to do;
14. Print screen HLMV (taking screenshot via the program does not work);
15. Open GIMP;
16. Open the screenshot or just copy and paste;
17. Go on the layers, and right click. Apply "ALPHA MASK" to the image;
18. Click on Fuzzy Select Tool (fourth icon), and put Feather edges: 2.0, and Threshold: 0.0;
19. Click on the background (watch out for backgrounds that are in arms or other places);
20. Go Select and click "Grow";
21. Type "1" and okay;
22. On the toolbar of the right, go on Paths (third icon);
23. Click "Selection to path" below (sixth icon on the bottom);
24. Double click the path above;
25. Now click the fifth icon on the bottom (path to selection);
26. Finally, Control+X;
27. Check if it's everything right;
28. Now, with the first item on the toolbox, click on the rectangle select tool;
29. Select the area that the character is;
30. Go on image tab and click on Crop Image;
31. Go on image tab again and click "autocrop" image;
32. Save as a .png file;
33. Finish.
If you still need help, add me on steam, I can help you. Good luck! ▪ - 10:18, 17 July 2014 (PDT)
- A lot of this is unnecessary. You don't need Source SDK, it's literally not used for anything, all the files you need come with TF2. You don't need to extract anything other than the VMTs if the item has paint, you can just load stuff through the "(Steam) Load Model" or "(Steam) Load Weapon" options, and just create any folders you need in the models folder in the tf folder, or in the models folder in another folder in the custom folder. Extracting all the files is an utterly needless step and just bloats your filesystem. A lot of the steps regarding setting up TF2 and everything can be skipped by using TFMV as well. It does all of the loading files and sorting out paint for you. --Omolong (talk) 10:28, 17 July 2014 (PDT)
Thank you very much, it'll be usefull. Scher2o 12:44, 17 July 2014 (PDT)
Infobox/Class Images
Got a few that wouldn't hurt to be done. They're not super urgent (and should be done after all the Love & War stuff, I think we still need good images for the taunts), so I'm not adding improveimage on them or anything, but it'd be useful if you could handle them soon. The majority of the reasoning is just awkward angles/lighting/cropping and so on, more or less the normal stuff. Here's the list:
- Dark Helm - Class Images
- Deadliest Duckling - Infobox and Class Images
- Heart of Gold - Class Images
- Kiss King - Class Images
- Pocket Horsemann - Class Images
- Polar Pullover - Class Images
- Tournament Medal - AU Highlander Community League (Season 1) - Infobox and Class Images
- Tournament Medal - OWL 10 6vs6 Tournament - Infobox and Class Images
- Tournament Medal - UGC 6vs6 Tournament (Season 13)/Tournament Medal - UGC Highlander Tournament (Season 11) - Infobox and Class Images
Looking over Category:Articles needing images and Category:Images that need improving a good place to find images that need doing too. Again, none of this is urgent, handle all the Love & War and any other images you want to do first, these would just be helpful. Thanks in advance. --Omolong (talk) 09:51, 28 July 2014 (PDT)
- No worries. I'm almost finishing the Love and War ones, but sadly, I won't be able to do Tower of Summer Shades variation. What I can do is take a screenshot of HLMV and ask my friend that knows how to remove background from reflective visors, if he gets a spare time to do it. I can do these with no problem, just remember that I got this [huge list] to do as well. Thanks. ▪ - 09:56, 28 July 2014 (PDT)
- The background isn't that hard to do in Photoshop, but I dunno what it's like in GIMP. In HLMV, you just take a screenshot with a white background, and one with a black background. In Photoshop you'd then just make them separate layers in the same document, and set the top one to use Difference blending (I normally do the black one). Then you hold CTRL and click on the RGB channels, and invert the selection. Then, you can either delete the selected area, or set it to be an alpha mask/channel. Then it's just the standard cropping and everything that you have with normal images. Dunno how much that helps with GIMP or Paint.NET or anything like that, but there might be something similar.

- My brother have obtained the Orange Box via the Steam Holiday 2012, the one with the crafting coals, and he obtained the Proof of Purchase (he started TF2 as a F2P). Sure, maybe this can be tested again by someone else, but the best thing is to keep the information there. I only removed the VALVE complete pack because I haven't bought it, so I'm not sure. Original/Translations for Vaccinator HUD image
Hello Gabrielwoj, I was checking HUD images to translate and saw you made the ones for the Vaccinator. Do you have the originals or could you create Brazilian Portuguese ones? Thanks! (Also, I don't know how/where to post this, but it would be nice to have a project where all graphs and HUD elements had their source/editable files posted somewhere so we could translate them easily instead of the gambiarras I had to do back in 2011) – Berna.leao (talk) 10:51, 5 May 2015 (PDT)
- I have the files here, but I only took for English. I guess I can do for PT-BR some day and for other languages too. The only issue is that take quite an effort to make those, especially that you need to restart Steam every single time when switching languages. I'll upload and warn you whatever I get a chance, I'll even update the Vaccinator/pt-br page when the images are done. ▪ - 10:58, 5 May 2015 (PDT)

- Well, I don't know EXACTLY how, but I know it needs to have two images for do it and them merge them. I thought a way of opening the 3D Model program together with a program that takes screenshots, and then I would make them properly transparent and fit them on the "bad" picture. Or, if there's another way to FORCE the 3D Images program to export the White/Black Backgrounds to another folder would be great. If you have another way to do it, feel free to, but I was thinking on doing this method I just said. ▪ - 11:23, 8 October 2015 (PDT)

So it's transparent like jarate? If so, you take two sets of images, one with transparency over white BG, one with no transparency over white BG. Then stitch the two in your favorite image-processing program. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 11:37, 8 October 2015 (PDT)
- The problem is that the model has two parts. One is the RED/BLU glow that is $additive and the other is the white part in the center of it which is also $additive (File:Batsaber.png). How exactly I'm going to do I don't know, since the white part is bothering me with the image process, as well, when I did the "white part only" screenshots, it was a bit smaller (due the white part is more at center of the model), so I couldn't merge with the RED area. ▪ - 11:44, 8 October 2015 (PDT)
- So it's like the vaccinator, then. I had to manually offset those images when I combined them. I can take a more direct look if you'd like, it'll take me a bit to get hlmv installed though. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 11:50, 8 October 2015 (PDT)
- No rush for now. I'll try my method of doing the separate pics and them merging. It could be great also for updating some of the already-made pictures (Jarate without the weird glass texture, for example). But thanks. Also, Darkid, are you good with Template editing? ▪ - 11:54, 8 October 2015 (PDT)
- Yes, what do you need? Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 12:06, 8 October 2015 (PDT)
- I was thinking on a more complex "Decorated" weapon table, which has team-color switcher, grade switcher (already implemented), Stat-Track Adder and to view on First-Person View (both teams as well), and another button that plays the "inspect" weapon animation upon clicking it (getting the screenshots via "Animget" progrma to get perfect quality frames and then merging on GIMP, with the same Width and Height of the image with no animation), I can do a mock-up later of how it could be. This is completely possible, Baldrus Tod, the guy who created loadout.tf, is making "weapons.tf", a website that you can test Decorated Weapon combinations and even export to a working texture. Right now it's in beta, but he allowed me to use for Wiki purposes. I agree that this would take quite a while, but it would look superb on the page. I don't think we need 3D Images for the Decorated weapons for now, as they're too many, I think shots of them is good enough, along with the other stuff I mentioned. What do you think? ▪ - 12:41, 8 October 2015 (PDT)
- I'm wary for the same reason we don't 3d-model hats, it's a huge amount of work. If you can automate it _entirely_, and I can help with that, then it's possible. As for the template, yes I'd need a mockup before I can start writing it. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 11:33, 13 October 2015 (PDT)
- Yes. The only one that would take more time would be the animations, since I need to merge the images all into one, and there's three animations (one for start, middle and end). The rest aren't too difficult. The only issue, is that weapons.tf is currently very unstable (it's in beta). I had several crashes and couldn't export a lot of the textures (due the website hang up when I didn't wanted). Maybe the animation tab could be removed, due the amount of work, but the First-Person view (static image) is entirely possible. I was thinking that, the animations could be on the Gallery part showing how each weapon-per-class animates, so it doesn't need to make in every skin and grade possible. Same thing would go with Unusuals (weapons.tf also attaches Weapon Unusual Effects). I'll be doing the mock-up soon, but, I think it's good making as a new template, so it doesn't replace the new one, as I don't know when weapons.tf is going to be stable for this work. ▪ - 06:50, 14 October 2015 (PDT)

If you're picturing 3d images and animation, I've no clue if that's possible. If you're looking for the selection model of the 3d images, that takes CSS code. Anything else is easy. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 07:12, 14 October 2015 (PDT)
- But no 3D images will be made. The template would be for the Decorated Page only (and for the related weapons, a small table showing each of the skinned counterparts would work too). The animation is for the "inspect" animation, but I'll only do few examples to put on the gallery below, and not on the table. ▪ - 07:26, 14 October 2015 (PDT)
confused about something
is there a reason you added Weapon Grades to the infoboxes of the Gun Mettle cosmetics on their respective pages? it kinda contradicts what the wiki says about weapon grades, namely that they "only apply to decorated weapons, and are not applied to other item or quality types." -- Kincyr (talk) 16:10, 10 September 2015 (PDT)
- Just thinking but, the new cosmetics have rarities grades, so that's the reason. And cosmetics don't have this quality, so this info is not relevant for them. — The preceding assigned comment was added by Tark {Finish Him! ▪ Contribs} 18:29, 10 September 2015 (PDT)
- huh, so they do. it turns out my confusion was because the Steam Community Market doesn't factor the grade of the cosmetics into the search engine when you search by grade. -- Kincyr (talk) 18:46, 10 September 2015 (PDT)
- Hmm the SCM works fine for me, just try search the grade with the unique quality or cosmetic filter. (Without the decorated qual)— The preceding assigned comment was added by Tark {Finish Him! ▪ Contribs} 19:01, 10 September 2015 (PDT)
- There are barely any editors on the Wiki as it used to be, there's a lot of outdated stuff and people, including me, focuses on updating other important things. I was planing to change the information, but I haven't done yet. Everyone with an account can edit, so you can edit as well. I added the grades because it would take months for someone to make a template that appears on the infobox, so I just did like that, the only thing that is the Weapon Grades is outdated, maybe move the page to "item rarity", as it was previously. ▪ - 19:37, 10 September 2015 (PDT)

Learning how to use HLMV
Hey Gabrielwoj. I don't know if you'll read this, but I've been working on learning how to use HLMV so I can create the class images for items. The part that is giving me a headache the most is the backgrounds. I can't make it transparent, and it won't let me load custom textures. What should I do? --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 13:28, 5 October 2015 (PDT)
- Put them on the custom folder, just like you would put a custom mod onto TF2. For making backgrounds, screenshot shot one picture with a white background and another with black, then do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJFSYsPjd9Y - You don't need to grow like I did, forget that part and proceed with the path part instead. ▪ - 19:56, 6 October 2015 (PDT)
- So THAT'S how it's done... wow, that makes things so much easier for me. I used to just go around the pictures, shift-clicking with the eraser. Thank you so much. 12:50, 12 October 2015 (PDT)
- Thank you sir. Good to see you not kill. I'm gonna have my work cut out now that Invasion is finally here.
Ayy lmao. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 19:58, 6 October 2015 (PDT)
- I never said I wasn't "kill". I'm just taking a break of the Wiki. And I'm usually busy on College, and when I have free time, I play something. ▪ - 20:06, 6 October 2015 (PDT)
- It's a bad joke I do with my friends since we love montage parodies. By the way, thanks for the advise for the future images. I took some new ones of the weapons and wanted to know how they looked.

- Batsaber.png
- How do they look? An improvement? --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 19:15, 7 October 2015 (PDT)
- They're good enough for now, but I noticed that they're too small and they aren't anti-alised (I noticed you just made in one color and removed with Magic Wand, since the items aren't transparent (The Giger Counter, for instance, should have the RED/BLU lighting fading)). If you're doing the Black/White background method, then, your HLMV might not applying the anti-alias. If you use TFMV, you can apply the option "Force HLMV anti-alias". You can simply use TFMV and load another model instead, but, careful, I noticed an issue with Sniper while using TFMV, his left "eye lid" was closed, and his facial flexes were all corrupted, or, check your dxsupport.cfg again. You may also need to configure some stuff on your Nvidia or ATI settings for specific programs (there's options for anti-alias and such). Though, be careful while enabling the "Full performance and quality (something like this)", as it triggers the Gray Eye issue with it. I'll re-make those if you don't mind, I'll replace some of the pics tomorrow. Please ask any other help if needed. ▪ - 19:54, 7 October 2015 (PDT)
- I thought I had Forced Anti-Aliasing on. Oh well. Yeah I am using TFMV as it's the only way I can capture in PNG. Also, this is kinda embarrassing, but I don't have Nvidia or ATI settings as I'm running on a toaster in Intel Integrated Graphics. Any you don't feel I did up to snuff feel free to replace. I'm just trying my best to do the best job I can to make a good impression. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 20:00, 7 October 2015 (PDT)
- You can use Print-Screen, which I advise you to do so. Using Windows + Print Screen saves a screenshot to your Photos folder. My computer also has Intel, and it works just fine (It's Intel with ATI, it's weird). Meh, it looks good, better than nothing. Someday when I leave the Wiki for a long time, you can work on these as well the other guy below, but sure, if you want to only. 3D Images are difficult, so I'll do these. ▪ - 20:12, 7 October 2015 (PDT)
- I'm just doing any job I can. I want to make a good impression now that I'm nominated. (Plus it gets boring repairing old custom map pages.) --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 20:17, 7 October 2015 (PDT)

- Well, uhm, since we're off-topic, I think your nomination was kinda too early. I'm not saying you haven't done a good job, but you're here just few months ago (8 June 2015). I'm not going to vote negative, but I'll wait a while until I decide when I'm going to vote. I'm happy with you being nominated, but early nominations sometimes are kinda difficult to handle and a lot of times causes "Negative" votes to appear. I need to check your contributions first, haven't been on this Wiki for a while now. ▪ - 21:07, 7 October 2015 (PDT)
- I know my chances are probably slim, but I'm still optimistic nonetheless.
- While we're off topic, that reminds me. Tark wanted to speak with you. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 21:24, 7 October 2015 (PDT)

- Okay, my next question is how to do those first person views for the weapons. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 15:58, 8 October 2015 (PDT)
- Load the "c_class_arms.mdl" (located at:
weapons/c_models/
, after doing that. Load the weapon using "Load Weapon" option above. Go on Options and activate the "Viewmodel Mode". Set the FOV to "54" (Default), when you type on FOV, the "BoneWeights" texture appears, switch to texture again (just switch back and forth with something else). On the "Sequence" tab, you can change the animations. Hope it helps. ▪ - 19:31, 8 October 2015 (PDT)- Two more questions then I'm done. 1. How do I change the item's team orientation and/or color, and 2. How do I add new items into TFMV so it recognizes them? --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 19:55, 8 October 2015 (PDT)
- 1. You need extract the Item's BLU .vmt to the correct folders (place on your custom folder) and rename it as a "red" material, so it will load the blue material instead. That's the only way to do it. 2. Just click in other item's checkboxes on TFMV, there are a limitation of 10, I think. Or, after loading HLMV through TFMV, you can use (Steam) Load Weapon menu as well. ▪ - 20:32, 8 October 2015 (PDT)
- I think I'm doing the extraction wrong. At the moment it looks like I can only do the RED version. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 10:24, 9 October 2015 (PDT)

- How do they look? An improvement? --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 19:15, 7 October 2015 (PDT)
- Open GCFScape;
- Open tf2_misc_dir.vpk (located at Steam->Steamapps->Common-Team Fortress 2->tf);
- Go to
root->materials->models->workshop->player->items->all_class->brotherhood_2
; - Extract the
brotherhood_2_blue.vmt
toSteam/steamapps/Common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom/my custom files/materials/models/player/items/all_class/brotherhood_2
; - Rename the
brotherhood_2_blue.vmt
tobrotherhood_2.vmt
, and load it on HLMV; - Load the cosmetic onto your class and switch the class Skin on HLMV. You're good to go. ▪ - 11:16, 9 October 2015 (PDT)
- In-case of the Batsaber, you'll need to rename both the laser and the bat materials, since the Laser and the "Weapon Holder" have different materials/textures. And also, you've made the Batsaber image with the "All_Class" animation, so it's holding differently than in-game. Choose "b_idle" sequence instead. ▪ - 11:24, 9 October 2015 (PDT)
- Is there a way to stop jigglebone objects (Like flying mascots) from moving? --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 13:31, 12 October 2015 (PDT)
- I don't know. I've heard if you decompile and recompile the model, the jiggles are gone. Another way you can do it is by pressing F5 and holding the Window's border, so it will freeze HLMV and you can print screen it. It's a bit finger-breaking, but it worked for me. It was a matter of trial and error, because I've got some different poses between the white and black background shots. ▪ - 14:01, 12 October 2015 (PDT)

TF2TIP
Hey there. On one of my images that you reverted, you said it looked like I used "TF2TIP"? What is it and how do I make it not use that? I've only used ordinary HLMV without any additions except increasing the graphics settings. Bojjob 05:45, 7 October 2015 (PDT)
- It's called the "Team Fortress 2 Texture Improvement Project", it makes the textures more cleaner and fixes some issues, as well making the base colors more saturated and the lightning more glossy. You may want to check your custom content. I once downloaded a mod that was "SFM Viewmodels" and it included TF2TIP textures without the submission specifying that those textures were on the pack. This also reminds, try never using the "custom" folder while using HLMV, in-case, create a new one exclusively for HLMV (Fix the fire overlay, cubemaps and such). You can change between custom folders by adding a "_" on the current one and rename the other to "custom". But another reason of the image was the wonky pose (I have no idea how you did that pose, I suppose with RPS_Lose animation). The pose is unique, which is good having variations between other images, but it would be a lot better if it was on another item, such as a "Hat" item, since it was blocking some of the areas of the item. I don't see "clipping" much of a problem, especially when it's very little clipping, it's something that it's almost impossible to avoid, see Courtier's Collar, this item was clipping in every pose possible, expect "Reference" pose, and reference poses should not be used, because it makes the character way too bland and the image is nothing special with that pose stance. ▪ - 08:20, 7 October 2015 (PDT)
- Yeah, I definitely haven't edited any of the textures I've used. The only mods I've got are sound mods that I made myself.
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bojjob (talk) • (contribs)
- Well, then it's my bad. But still, the attention on the custom content is important. Making a separate custom folder is also a good tip, since some of the models load incorrectly in HLMV and they need to be recompiled to remove the Helper Bones (I have no idea how to do that, Omolong was the only one I know that knew how to do these edits on the model, but he's taking a break of the Wiki). The fixed models can be found on the rot and trans pages. ▪ - 12:50, 7 October 2015 (PDT)

Where's my hug? Also, any chance of throwing me any sort of guide for HLMV. I'm tempted to give it a whirl when I'm not lazy. And or pointers Ashes (talk) 11:27, 8 October 2015 (PDT)
- Well, maybe yes. I'm actually more talkative now than before, so, it may happen now. But not exactly next week, I'm not done with some of the images and I just finished my exams today, so I want a (more) break. ▪ - 11:30, 8 October 2015 (PDT)

HLMV Grey Eyed Problem
Hey, I'm having some trouble with HLMV... all my classes have grey eyes no matter what they're wearing. Is there a way to fix this? 10:47, 12 October 2015 (PDT)
- No there isn't. I already have told that to you. You can't put maximum performance under your Nvidia (if you're using Nvidia) settings, if you put Balanced or something else, it will fix it. Try also replacing the dxsupport.cfg again, I've heard some people saying that the dxsupport is always replaced when new updates comes out, that never happened with me, though. ▪ - 11:29, 12 October 2015 (PDT)
Limbless Class Images
Hey, sorry about all the questions but I noticed you did a class image where it was just their body without any limbs (especially the head). How did you do it? 11:00, 14 October 2015 (PDT)
- I think I worked out how to do it. I took a picture of the cosmetic and then loaded the class as a weapon and edited them together, erasing the arms out. How did I do? 11:51, 14 October 2015 (PDT)
- Go here. If you're going to do a shirt-related item, try searching a shirt-item from that class and get the materials from there. For the Starduster, search the "Marksman's Mohair" and get the materials there, since both are "shirt" items. Copy the rot and trans values and paste on your regedit (paste the info on your hwm/sniper.mdl regedit path). Make sure to have the exact same angle (do not alter on HLMV). What the materials do is that it disables certain areas of the model, making it more clean to take screenshots. You'll need to paste these materials on your custom folder, just like a mod. You also need to keep the animation as "ref" and use HWM models. ▪ - 19:56, 14 October 2015 (PDT)
- Ah, thank you very much 10:54, 15 October 2015 (PDT)
- Okay, I really can't get my head around this... I need to disable pyro's grenades for these painted images but I can't seem to do it. I look in the VMTs of the textures I downloaded but I can't see anything. Which part of the files disables the bodygroups? 11:59, 13 November 2015 (PST)
- Disable them via HLMV, manually over the "Model" tab. Click on the drop-down list (pyro) and go to grenades and disable each time you refresh the program. I've always done like this, I know it's kinda pain in the neck doing always when Refresh, but I don't know if there was any custom texture to just make them invisible (it's possible, though). ▪ - 18:49, 13 November 2015 (PST)
- Okay... do you know who DOES know how to do it automatically? I downloaded textures for a different class that disabled certain bits even if you pressed F5, but I just couldn't see any bits of code that might have done it. 11:24, 14 November 2015 (PST)
- It's a change on the texture file and the normal map. The white areas in the normal map are the parts which are going to be invisible, while the black are the ones that will show. Wait and I can make a pack which hides the Pyro grenades. ▪ - 12:43, 14 November 2015 (PST)
- Ah, I know how to do that, you don't have to do it for me heh 12:44, 14 November 2015 (PST)
- In-case you're using GIMP for that, be sure to open the .vtf first with VTFEdit and Right-Click and click "Copy". Re-open the texture and paste your texture above the base texture of the vtf. Every time you open a .vtf on Gimp, the texture loses a bit of quality, so you'll need to do this workaround in order to retain the quality. ▪ - 13:35, 14 November 2015 (PST)
- Hmm, this didn't work. The white bits just lose their normal mapping. 19:20, 14 November 2015 (PST)
- What "package" of changes (that makes stuff invisible) are you using? Can you send me a link of the original? ▪ - 13:53, 15 November 2015 (PST)
- AHA, I worked it out! You have to edit the alpha channel on the bits you want invisible. Then you add this to the VMT:
"$alphatest" "1"
"$nocull" "1"
- 11:53, 23 November 2015 (PST)
- You can also add this, instead of these other two:
- "VertexLitGeneric"
- {
- "$no_draw" "1"
- }
- That's how it looks on the files found on the Rotations page. ▪ - 18:56, 24 November 2015 (PST)

Spy Cigarette
Hey, I'm trying to make painted variants image for the Graylien, I downloaded the texture they used for the Spectre's Spectacles and used the same rotations but the cigarette's invisible. How do I fix this? 10:34, 23 October 2015 (PDT)
- See if you are using the REF pose. If you're using the StartPose stance, the Spy holds the ciggarete on his hands, so that's why it's not showing up. But I think it was removed. I think Omolong updated to make the paint variants more "clean", so it doesn't need to show an additional object that has nothing to do with the model itself. See Vive La France for instance, all the paint variants doesn't have the cigarette. ▪ - 11:46, 23 October 2015 (PDT)
Backers on Nominations
Isn't the point of backers is those who back them up in a positive way? If so, we're using a for that... so were not really backing them up...... Ashes (talk) 14:35, 23 October 2015 (PDT)

Having that nomination rolling around on the months seems like a bad idea, especially that the guy will probably be declined to get the Wiki Cap (on the early nomination) and people will wait too much to nominate it again. ▪ - 05:09, 24 October 2015 (PDT)
- I don't think it's our place to judge. It's up to the staff members whether the nomination should be removed. All we can do is explain why we believe he shouldn't be nominated yet on the nomination page and to the positive commentors. Besides, Bojjob looks like the kind of guy who doesn't mind if he's rejected. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 07:44, 24 October 2015 (PDT)
- You realize that it takes months for the staff to check how the nominations are going, right? It will end up being rejected when he was supposed to be actually nominated (in-case he works well till that day). There's no point of keeping an early nomination with only 1 positive vote, at least that's my point. ▪ - 08:47, 24 October 2015 (PDT)
- Even so, it is not our role to remove someone else's nomination. If you don't think that Bojjob should be nominated now then go talk to the one person who gave him a positive vote and explain why. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 12:58, 24 October 2015 (PDT)
- If you think someone shouldn't be nomiated, you should not go talk to the person who nominated them. That directly flies in the face of why we have a nomination board. If you have a problem with a nomination, you should write why (editcount is not a reason) they *shouldn't* be awarded a cap. If your reason becomes outdated, the onus is yours to fix it. You should treat wiki cap nominations as a talk page; it's impolite to remove or modify others' comments, and it's improper to have the discussion somewhere else. old unpainted images
Hello, I'm trying to fix the Scotsman's Stove Pipe page image but I can't seem to get the band to not appear white. Do you know how to make the old hats look unpainted instead of white? 16:33, 25 October 2015 (PDT)
- The .VMT files for the old cosmetic items doesn't have the
$color2
parameter on it, which is what HLMV uses to load the color material. In other hand, Team Fortress 2 itself only uses the$colortint_base
parameter for that. If you want to load these colors, you'll need to extract the .VMT and add the $color2 string and code the contents from the $colortint_base and paste it over $color2. I'll use the Demoman's Fro as an example: - demo_afro.vmt
- "VertexlitGeneric"
- {
- "$baseTexture" "models/player/items/demo/demo_afro"
- "$bumpmap" "models/player/items/demo/demo_afro_normal"
- "$detail" "effects/tiledfire/fireLayeredSlowTiled512.vtf"
- "$detailscale" "5"
- "$detailblendfactor" .01
- "$detailblendmode" 6
- "$yellow" "0"
- "$one" "1"
- "$phong" "1"
- "$phongexponent" "20"
- "$phongboost" ".05"
- "$lightwarptexture" "models/player/pyro/pyro_lightwarp"
- "$phongfresnelranges" "[.3 1 8]"
- "$halflambert" "0"
- "$blendtintbybasealpha" "1"
- "$blendtintcoloroverbase" "0"
- "$colortint_base" "{37 33 29}"
- "$color2" "{37 33 29}"
- "$colortint_tmp" "[0 0 0]"
- ...
- You need to do this on both team materials (in-case there's team-colored on said item). You can also use TFMV for that, it makes it a lot easier to make Paint Variants. I can teach you how to use it, if you wish. ▪ - 18:47, 25 October 2015 (PDT)
- Ah, thank you that worked.
- Hm... how do I use TFMV? I tried using it but I couldn't figure it out and all the tutorial videos were missing from the page.

- Download TFMV first (I use 1.2.8b, I had issues with the 1.2.9, so I rolled back);
- Open TFMV, go to Settings and set your Steam Directory and TF2 (Steampipe) Directory (steam/steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf). Mark "Force HLMV antialising" and "use players HWM models"
- Go back to items and click to Download Schema, and wait until it ends;
- After downloaded, select your class with the desired cosmetics and weapons (in-case you're doing infobox pictures);
- After selecting, click on "Loadout to HLMV + Load Paints";
- Now the old hats doesn't have the white color on it. You can also change the team colors quicker by going on the "Paint Items" tab and choosing any. Clicking on "Update Paints" will cause to change the paint on HLMV automatically;
- The BLU VMT doesn't appear there, so you'll need to do the .vmts process here. A simple way to do so is simply by clicking on the "item".vmt that appears on the screen and editing directly there. Then, press refresh on HLMV (not on TFMV, otherwise it will not work). You'll need to get the BLU's $color2 code directly from the game files, though;
- This program also can switch styles. In this version, there were some issues with some items that causes strange textures to show up. I don't know about other versions;
- On the Settings tab, you can change your HLMV Camera Position (Trans) and Camera Rotation (Rot). Here, however, it's a bit different. The columns are shifted by one. So the first value goes on the second box, the second on the third box and the third on the first box (as far I remember, it's that how it works).
- Download TFMV first (I use 1.2.8b, I had issues with the 1.2.9, so I rolled back);
- That should be it.
- An extra note: When loading the Sniper model, it causes his Facial Flexes to mess up. I don't know if that was updated in later revisions, but you won't be able to do Sniper pictures in good quality due to this. ▪ - 19:02, 26 October 2015 (PDT)

Broken Bronco
Hey, I'm having trouble with making an image for the Bucking Bronco... it doesn't wanna animate with the engineer.
You said you had trouble with the Most Wanted taunt? Any ideas how to fix this one?
Siberian Sweater
Alright, the thing that happened with the scout gloves is also happening to the sleeves on the Siberian Sweater
D'you reckon you could fix this for us? 12:41, 29 December 2015 (PST)
- Shouldn't be difficult to fix it. I don't know if I'll do the image, though. ▪ - 13:04, 29 December 2015 (PST)
- Well just gimmie the model and I'll make it if you want
- I'll link to your fixed model in the summary 13:07, 29 December 2015 (PST)
- It's already done, piece of cake. Let me pack up everything right. Also, do you think I should get another "Helping Hand"? Well, if you want, I guess. (May take a while for me to pack the stuff). :^). ▪ - 13:18, 29 December 2015 (PST)

- Thanks, helped out with lots of other stuff (HLMV related and stuff), but I already had too many about HLMV image editing, something new from the model fixes is a lot more awesome, thanks again.
Here is the file: [1], check if everything's working. In-case it doesn't work, try simply loading the model from the folder using "Load Weapon", instead of "(Steam) Load Weapon". Honestly, I don't think there's anything documented about these model fixes, would be interesting if I make a tutorial (another one). I promised a billion times already that I would make some tutorials, but never went to do it. I have a better microphone now, so I may do it, especially that this model tutorial doesn't take too much time. ▪ - 14:08, 29 December 2015 (PST)

If you're on board...
...we're bringing back April Fools 2016, and we're looking for people who would be interested in participating. -- Dr. Scaphandre 13:19, 3 January 2016 (PST)
- I could do something, if you having something in mind for me to do, tell it quick. I could be busy after my vacations are over. I'm good at texture editing, if needed, as well HLMV, obviously. Like, I dunno, TF2 Wiki Decorated Skins or something? Weapons.tf site is still in beta, sometimes it's difficult to get the decorated weapon textures, and I have no idea if I can force to load a custom "decal" on the website.
My plan would be a "Fix Update", like listing a heck load of bugs that people complain for years now, and also the return of Ultra High Texture Settings and the TF2TIP pack "officially" added. ▪ - 15:42, 3 January 2016 (PST)- Ashes suggested some joke skins, and I need someone to do HLMV pics for my Golden Ghastly Gibus page, so you and Bojjob would be really handy for that. -- Dr. Scaphandre 15:47, 3 January 2016 (PST)
- I could make HLMV pics for the Gibus (I'll do this job Bojjob, stahap, you do the paint variants (how, I don't know, maybe a pinkish golden gibus, anyone?)). Plus, I'll do the images for the Gibus with TF2TIP, like the "Patch Note" I suggested. I'm thinking in more ideas for it. I'm kinda good on modeling (not professional), but I never tried make any cosmetic items for TF2. ▪ - 18:42, 3 January 2016 (PST)

Hat With No Name
Since we need to update this again, I was wondering if the infobox should keep all 4 classes in or should we do just the one like the Deadliest Duckling? It's kinda tiny as it is 06:48, 11 January 2016 (PST)
- I think they only updated that the paint wasn't working. I haven't checked. And honestly, I don't really like your Deadliest Duckling pic, it's inconsistent with other multi-class items. Of course that the previous one was horrible, but it's not quite right yet. ▪ - 11:49, 15 January 2016 (PST)

"Unneeded" class images
Why are you uploading class images for Tuxxy and Dead of Night? The item isn't significantly different on the different classes... Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 13:07, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- The model is still different enough for adding it to the infobox, and, the more complete the article, the better. Yet, I talked about that since last year that I would make it and nobody said anything that I shouldn't. I need to disagree with the Dead of Night, it's quite different on the classes to accommodate their default models, the Medic one is pretty different. ▪ - 13:10, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- Well for Dead of Night you were only uploading gallery pics as far as I can see, but with Tuxxy, an infobox that long doesn't look that good imo. Also, we've never done that before on team-colored all-class miscs. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk|Contribs} 13:13, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- The more complete? The wiki isn't trying to document every aspect of every item. If the medic style is pretty different, show that one. I'm worried about A. total workload to update theoretically all multiclass items, and B. the distance down the page it moves other key information. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 13:15, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- Well, I just lost what I wrote due edit conflict. Well, if that's the case, I'll just leave it incomplete and let it dust. I was trying to make more work that I've to to add more content to the articles (especially pictures), but there's no consistency norms here. And too, there's barely anyone editing here nowadays, so adding norms will just make people left. Even if the work isn't superb, people still should contribute, User:Victory was banned and never came back, how surprising, congrats on losing a potential contributor to this wiki, now we have thousands of incomplete paint variant gallery pictures (outdated, missing and so on). Returning to the Tuxxy/Dead of Night pics, the classes pictures on the infobox should show the reader how it looks on the class without the pose blocking it (on the Gallery). The Tuxxy also shows some model changes between classes, and the Dead of Night, on the Medic, is quite different from the rest. I would make pictures only for more severe model changes (classes that changes the orientation of the item wouldn't count). I'll stop uploading it until it's decided, but it the page will look incomplete as it now until something is decided. ▪ - 13:20, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- It would be an honor for me to work at your side with uploading images. It'd be great if you'd find some time to mentor, I already mentioned in the irc that seemingly nobody left here knows much about images and those things. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk|Contribs} 13:23, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- I'll post few things on your UserTalk later on, but I'm quite busy on my semester right now (took a day break today). HLMV has some incompatibles stuff sometimes (like the lighting, textures and models, or sometimes some funky stuff with grey eyes), but this Wiki is pretty much empty, and any image would be welcome, at least on my opinion. ▪ - 13:26, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- That's very much appreciated! I already uploaded some painted variants and gallery pics, I think it's not that bad. But I'm quite perfectionistic and try to improve the quality and consistency with other uploads. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk|Contribs} 13:27, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- Yep, honestly, those Brutal Bouffant pics are quite good, and you already know about the Rotations page and how to even edited from regedit, nice! The only thing I think, is that you are using the regular models. We use here the "hwm" models, they have a better face texture and you're more free to do the facial expressions with it. I can tell the difference due the lighting right on the classes' faces. But really, they really seem to be good. I may not even need to tutor much, but it depends how is your "current" style of doing those pictures. ▪ - 13:35, 7 April 2016 (PDT)

Trying to stay on topic, Victory's problem was not being willing to talk through issues before doing them, not a necessarily 'misguided' approach. I understand your concern about lack of editing, but I'm not sure that indicates lack of interest rather than lack of obvious (easy) work. Thousands of incomplete painted variants? I was pretty sure we reverted Victory's changes, rather than just outright deleting her edits. I'm not against showing important item differences, and I wouldn't say no to seeing a page completed with this idea, just so we can compare it to another page. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 13:29, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- But if she wasn't banned, she could be adding missing pictures right now. And yes, there is a lot of missing paint variations. Especially with the new updated items, and some of them now have paintabillity (such as the Trickster's Turnout Gear) and some are somewhat different from before (Colonel's Coat). ▪ - 13:35, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- I'm not sure I follow your logic, Victory was banned because her edits were made with a disregard for others' concerns. I'm not sure exactly what you mean about those two images. But yeah, we don't have any active contributors uploading painted variants beyond Nikno and MarioMaster2008. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 13:43, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
Any particular reason to removed me?
Did I do somethings wrong? ; w ; Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 23:50, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
- No, you haven't done anything wrong. I do apologize for the lack of explanation before removal or when you asked me (I wasn't sure where to reply, I thought making another Trade Offer to reply to your question, but I ended up not doing it). Sometimes, I remove people from my Friends List when I'm having difficult moments in life, feeling sadness, anxious, and so on. In some cases, I can feel very sad, very anxious, and I feel like I don't want to be bothered, which may be the cause of said removals. From time to time, I do also clean up my Friends List if there's too many people added (I always make a backup of the friends I had added before removing), although, that was not the case for you. Again, I'm sorry if such act hurt you in any way. ▪ - 00:59, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

- Okay. I do always backup my Friends List before I end up removing people... so, if by any case I want to re-add someone else in the future, I can just access my backup and find the person over there. I believe this post was made before we talked via Steam yesterday, but yeah, I decided to reply it, regardless. Thanks. ▪ - 21:16, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- I'll leave my request there as usual, if you're feeling better, you can accept at anytime. I'm sorry for being busy lately and didn't talk with. Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 11:44, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- Okay, I had a not so good Monday this week, and so proceeded to clean up my friends list. I'll add you again when I'm feeling a little better, right now things aren't too good on my side. It may take some time until then, but the only thing I ask for you to be patient until I'm feeling better again. ▪ - 19:35, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

Workshop description verses publicity blurb
I always figured that the quotation source was "Workshop description" if it came from the community description in the workshop, but the source is "publicity blurb" if it comes from Valve's description in the update page or blog. See also
Other items community-created along with CosmeticNameGoesHere:
Contribution/contributed and so on, is a pretty universal phrase for items added from the workshop. If the items in question are by Valve, we simply remove the "community-". How would that sound? ▪ - 19:33, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

Issue with HLMV and it's graphic settings
Hi! So, i've decided to look into the issue with textures, and while my game/config uses very high textures, HLMV does not. Here's the thing though - I did modify dxsupport.cfg; here's how it looks. Is there anything else that I could do? Goodjob (talk) 18:29, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Make a backup of your dxsupport.cfg and try using this one instead, this one pretty much maximizes all the settings over all possible graphics card. This is the one I use it, so it should work. ▪ - 20:00, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks, that works! Now, here's the thing - should I go and remake the pics i've added thus far, or is it alright to leave them as they are, but have any further pics with higher textures, since they work now? Goodjob (talk) 20:05, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- It's alright, no need for replace them. I usually only mark texture settings when there's something else to improve or if it's at really low quality (check Dealer's Visor picture, just check the Heavy emblem, that is some "high quality low settings stuff"). But yeah, always try taking photos at the highest quality settings when possible, so your future uploads will do fine. ▪ - 20:08, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Recent edits
Hi Gabriel,
I was wondering what the point was of these edits? It seems like you removed stuff about the workshop submission titles and any trivia/notes relating to that, if that's correct please let me know (in that case you missed a bit of Trivia on a /nl page). Also why? (question from zeklyn) GrampaSwood (talk) 19:16, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- Well, I've asked first here, he told me he was removing the names similar to how we were removing Trivias about the original names. I'd say it makes sense. Some names were quite strange on the page, like I mentioned about Insulated's Inventor one there. I'll keep future edits on hold until further discussion about this. ▪ - 19:19, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- I don't know that GrampaSwood was necessarily questioning the edits. IIRC, we discused it above. #See also (that said, I haven't followed the edits so I may be 9ff base).
- IMO, if it is Workshop, it is prerelease and so not usually Trivia, and not interesting and so also not Trivia for that reason. Monster Mash is a counter example because of the notoriety of the name and the Copyright concerns. Hey, Gab, I just thought of Good(Monster Mash) Bad(most any other prerelease Workshop name) eaxmple. M I K A D O 282 oOOOOo oo oo (talk) (Help Wanted!) 03:17, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
- Well, I'm kinda confused now. Most of the edits I did were related to removing the original workshop name. Yes, I did removed that part from Monster Mash indeed. Do you want that I revert any edits regarding the original workshop names, or should I continue removing them? I may already ask something, but, previously, when it was questioned about keeping or removing the workshop names, was it because it would be time consuming to edit those, or because we wanted to keep the names there? Because if it's time-consuming, I don't mind taking some time to remove each one on the /en pages, searching for

I am on the desktop now, so I can be more expressive, I see that there are two issues, and we kinda have a quorum of (4?) active editors looking at this (with User:Danio19978) reading this: Workshop content in Trivia and Workshop content in the Lead: M I K A D O 282 oOOOOo oo oo (talk) (Help Wanted!) 15:08, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
Workshop content in Trivia
Oppose in general As I understand it, information in Workshop is prerelease, where Trivia is generally restricted to released content, and it is on that basis, IIRC, that name change on release has been reverted from Trivia. (General policing of content slipped circa 2014?) It is also generally uninteresting, Valve often changes or tweaks names on release. That said, there can be expections: I made the decision to let the Trivia about the name change of Monster Mash to Monster Bash stand because of the notoriety of the song (Interesting (if obvious to silverbacks)) but coupled with Valve concern with Copyright (assuming that is not rank Speculation). YMMV, so I propose either you revert the Monster Mash trivia if you agree or open a discussion on the Monster Bash Talk expressly on that subject. Workshop content (name change) in the Lead
Equivocating There is a precedent for greater tolerance for the obvious and uninteresting in the Lead (Oooh, the medieval style helmet has rivets!), but that said, I can't say whether there was or now is precedent for the general statement "...contributed] to the game via the Steam Workshop under the name "...". I had hoped that you surveyed the past Community Cosmetics (pre-2013) to see if the statement was conventional originally. This topic really should be address under the Help:Style guide/Cosmetics, when one of you writes it. M I K A D O 282 oOOOOo oo oo (talk) (Help Wanted!) 15:08, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
- Well, alright. I'll make a post on the Wiki Discussion page about it later, and we can settle down from there, but I do hope people come by to give their opinions and thoughts, I've previously posted stuff on the Discussion page that haven't received any attention, so. I do apologize for any inconveniences so far regarding the subject. ▪ - 15:57, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

BLU Team Color Style Images
Hey there, I'm starting to do a little project so that all styles are represented in the team colors section, if an item has multiple styles, and not just the first one, to better represent the item as a whole. I had slipped that sort of thing into pages like the Aim Assistant article when it was first made, as well as the tournament medal articles I've been working on. It's come to my attention that some (largely unpaintable) items don't have BLU style images, most likely because they were seen as unneeded at the time, such as the Apparatchik's Apparel. You took the RED style images for those -- would you happen to be able to make BLU ones as well, for items you've worked on style images for in general? Or failing that, would you still happen to have the regedit values for them? -ThatHatGuy (talk) 11:59, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hi. I probably don't have the regedit values anymore, but for Apparatchik's Apparel, I used the same one as the Siberian Sophisticate. I'm on a different computer/monitor than I used before, so I probably won't be able to replicate 100% with the regedit values. I can, however, if replacements are needed, re-make the images on RED/BLU variations, such as the Duck Journal. It's nice that we are progressing with what I originally discussed on the Wiki's Discussion page. - ▪ - 13:18, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- If you could go ahead and redo the style images for the Apparel, that would be good, yeah; especially because you do that fancy grey gradient for there not being a head. It's all set up now to take in the BLU images for the other three styles, but you can go ahead and redo the Outdoorsmen style as well, if you'd like. (If the BLU image for the Outdoorsmen style is having trouble caching the thumbnail, as I suspect it will for the next few days, you can get to that here.) -ThatHatGuy (talk) 13:45, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- Update on the styles project: I've got everything in place, but there are a few things I'd like for you to help with, now that everything's mostly in place. Do you think you could:

- Redo the style images for the Apparatchik's Apparel, adding BLU shirts where applicable
- Redo the style images for the Duck Journal, adding BLU ducks where applicable
- Help with the Triad Trinket BLU image for the Bear style? There were no rots provided, so it's probably best to redo them all for consistency, but it's a body shot
- Help with the War on Smissmas Battle Hood BLU image for the Helmet style? Same thing, no rots, but it's a full body shot.
Those should be all I need from you now. Thank you for your time! -ThatHatGuy (talk) 02:54, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
- I see you're already doing the Duck Journal images, that's good! One last thing, I would like your help with the Der Wintermantel Gramma's Sweater Hidden paint table. There are rots for it, and you'd just need to use the other style's model. I never could get those head-gradients right. Sorry to dump a list on you like this. -ThatHatGuy (talk) 03:18, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
- Sure no problem, but my current setup is kinda difficult for me to do the other images (I'm on a low resolution, I use a program to resize the boundaries of a application window, but even so it's hard to use the same rot like so). I only did the Duck Journal ones because they didn't had to follow specific rots. At some point, I'll be getting the Window Size of HLMV when running on a 1920x1080 resolution, so I can use like so with that program, and possibly be able to replicate the images without any issues. - ▪ - 11:48, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

I hope that you are feeling better, it's been a while since we last talked. Anyway, your Shugo style icons are great! I hope that it can become a mod to use soon. Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 23:11, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

“ Thank you!Click to listen— Dereko is thanking Gabrielwoj for nomination,with good cheer and deep joviality.” I thought it would be a normal day until friends at IRC told me about the nomination.
There is no editor who mainly translates pages into simplified Chinese has received the cap, and I don't know if there are someone being nominated before.
So, to be honest, it's a huge honor for me to be nominated. And whatever the result is, I will be grateful and satisfied.
Dereko shows you their best gratitude.
- That's a lot of wholesome words. I mean, sure thing, since everyone were nominating everyone, I decided it'd be your time as well. I find it strange that no other Chinese users got nominated in the past, I've seen some good users (such as Hoto_Cocoa and yourself), so it's kinda strange to know that. - ▪ - 13:10, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
Tournament Medal Item Icons
Hey there, I saw you're working on a project to revitalize Shugo style item icons; and I come to you today at a crossroads of how to proceed with tournament medal things. I'm looking into redoing the tournament medal disambiguation page and item timeline pages to be up to date, and far less crowded with red text and duplicate icons, respectively. But since both of those use item icons, I'm at a loss for how to display them properly on those pages; and since you're in the middle of a Shugo style revamp project, I thought I would ask your input. We could either:
- Have an item icon for each different gold medal in a single tournament (division bracket/seasonal medals, with different models, in the same tournament)
- Have a collective joint item icon that features each of those medals in the same icon.
Basically, this means for tournaments like Ready Steady Pan, where there are several medals per season, the item icon would be either one for each season's gold medal (and then a stretched nameplate for "Tournament Medal - Ready Steady Pan" below them,) or a single icon with all four gold medals. I personally am leaning towards the first one: full item icons for each different gold medal in a tournament (of course, on top of the item icon for each tournament system we have now.) This would make it so it'd be easier to display each medal on the disambiguation page -- it wouldn't work as great on the item timeline page, but you can't have everything you wish for.
I'm probably going to tackle working on the disambiguation page soon, but I wanted to see which method you'd prefer; I imagine it would also be the "separate item icons for each gold medal" option, seeing as how that wouldn't have to be updated again if Valve ever do add more medals, while a joint icon would; and even though a joint icon would look more aesthetically pleasing on the item timeline, I don't personally think it's feasible to do that. - ThatHatGuy (talk) 10:23, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- To clarify, I'll fill in any missing item icon gaps with traditional ones for now. You can upload Shugo styled ones later, when you get around to those medals. - ThatHatGuy (talk) 10:25, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- I was taking a break from Shugo style icons because I did a lot before tackling with Tournament Medals. Tournament Medals are also kinda annoying to find in the game files (I usually check the model's filename on items_game.txt), and there's the usual problem of some medals loading on HLMV "lied down", which is impossible to take a good shot without modifying the model's position manually on Blender. I think we could do something like this, perhaps? https://i.imgur.com/jDpIlsV.
- The Tournament Medals page show each variation of an available medal (not considering Silver and Bronze medals). As for your point, making an icon that shows four Golden Medals won't look good if it's just 1 icon (it'll show quite small on the table), but it could work if we instead use 4 separate Item Icons above the "Tournament Medal - Ready Steady Pan" name.
- The Tournament Medals page require some updating (I think some medals are missing there), and someone should remove the Tournament Medals from List of All class cosmetics (it was already requested, but it wasn't done yet), because they aren't "real" cosmetics and they are taking a lot of space on that table. When doing that, make sure to add a {{hatnote}} like "Tournament Medals are omitted from this table, to view them, visit Tournament Medals.".
- As for your points, I think we should show all Golden Medals from available seasons, and omitting "Helper" or "Supporter" medals from them. If we decide to do the way like the image I've linked, we should then list all available medals, including Supporter and Helper ones, but excluding Silver and Bronze. - ▪ - 13:18, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- The imgur image was sort of what I was going for, but not quite. There's already an extra duplicate of the same string in that Ready Steady Pan image. What I'd like instead is for there to be three columns:

- * Item icons
- * Tournament name [stretched out for as long as it needs to in order to cover all the icons for that tournament]
- * Descriptive strings under that, "Season 1," "Season 2," "___ Division" or what have you
- Just like any other cosmetic table, but alphabetized by a league sidebar on the left. That way it's cleaner and easier to read what you're looking for, while still showing all the medal designs. It would extend to divisions as well, so let's take AsiaFortress Cup as an example. We'd have to show all of those, and so it'd go:
- * AsiaFortress Cup Divisions 1-3 icons
- * rowspan 3 = "Tournament Medal - AsiaFortress Cup" to cover all three icons
- * Three separate strings below each icon -- Division 1, Division 2, Division 3
- With the same AsiaFortress sidebar on the left. That way, everybody knows which medal belongs to which part of which league, right away, and it's nice and smooth. Is that feasible? To address your point about showcasing other types of medals like Helper/Supporter/Staff, we could show any type of medal you wanted like this, they'd just have to extend the "Tournament Medal - Whatever" row longer, and have their own description string on the third row. - ThatHatGuy (talk) 14:19, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- Sounds good for me. I'll have a better idea when it's finished, but we can already use the default Item icons before I make them in Shugo style (take the Backpack Icons for them, they'll be temporary until I get the Icons done). If anything, try how it looks with Cap that Cup medals, since I've made the icon for the Gold version already. - ▪ - 15:37, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- I've finally got a visual aid going. I've decided to forgo colspanning the medal nameplates for now, as that stretches things out, it seems. We'll see how that pans out. But it'll look basically like this: we'll showcase the gold medals of each league first, in each division or season that has gold medals; and then the one-off tournaments will have their own section at the bottom, where they'll all be grouped together alphabetically, but without the seasons or years or anything, because there's only one set of them. - ThatHatGuy (talk) 12:07, 13 September 2019 (UTC)

Gas Passer recharge rate with MvM upgrades
Hey, I'm not sure if this is here where I should ask you this, but you said in the Upgrade Station page (https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Upgrade_Station) that : "Gas Passer only: Recharge rate is also applied to recharge rate done by damage, while also increasing the base rate that builds over time."
I wanted to know if you have any source regarding this. Thank you for your time. Quenquent (talk) 14:19, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- I don't have a video source, but I always test things first before adding/removing info. I was once playing MvM and I noticed that by purchasing the Recharge Rate upgrade also applied to how fast I would build up Gas with damage done. Instead of taking about 5 seconds to build up gas with damage done, it would take less than a second with full Recharge Rate upgraded. - ▪ - 16:40, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
A friend of mine took the time to test it by setting the GP's recharge rate bonus to -100% (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6AEOMfB6Dg). The GP isn't charging on damage and that confirms what you said. Sorry for wasting your time and thank you for your answer ! Quenquent (talk) 10:06, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
