Hello, Undarker!

Welcome to the Official Team Fortress Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User Undarker to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:Undarker/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress Wiki!

Pelican Peak images

Hi there,

When uploading images, remember to add the appropriate categories. In this case, for map images, add [[Category:Mapname images]], such as [[Category:Pelican Peak images]]. Also remember to include the map's name in the filename, such as "Pelican Peak middle point.png" rather than "middle point.png". The summary should also be in English, rather than in Russian.

I've moved all these pages now, but remember to add them to the English page first before adding it to a Russian page. Translations should always be based on the English version of the article.

Overlinking

Hi there,

Please see this page about overlinking and underlinking. It's not necessary to link every instance of a word that can be linked. In general, you want to have them linked once on the page in the first instance they appear.

Categories on images

Hi there,

It's possible to add the categories when uploading. If you put the category in the "Summary" field when uploading, it'll be included when uploaded. Note that for map images, you can use {{Mapimg}} to automatically add the correct license and category (note that it's not necessary to select a license if you're using the template). Please see the template's page on how to use it. Also note that it is not necessary to include images in both the locations section and the gallery section. Images relating to locations on the map should be in the Locations section, while images relating to trivia or easter eggs should be in the Gallery section.

Hello! OK, thank you for the information. With screenshots, you mean I can't post the same screenshot in two categories, right? Undarker (talk) 16:21, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
You can put the same screenshot in two categories, unless by "categories" you mean the sections on the page (for example, gallery and locations). If that's the case, then no, it should only be either in the locations section or gallery section.

Also, I noticed on your recent images that you may not be using the maximum settings. For example, you appear to have a very low AA setting on your images, please also make sure to check your HUD and outlines are disabled.
