Valve's cool

With the store redesign all the old links are now broken. -- Nineaxis Duck Gib.png 02:42, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Links are now fixed! Valve is awesome! -- Brianfl1 7:41, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

New designs coming soon?

I was just on the forums in a thread, and a VALVe guy replied to a question of mine concerning new TF2 merch:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=18984869&postcount=11

So, yeah, just a heads up. Feel free to put it in the article or something if this is worthy HuffCP 22:37, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Also, check out the rest of the thread. There is some coming up about some new GamingHeads statues. HuffCP 22:39, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. The new items will be added once they've been announced. -- En Ex (talk) 23:07, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Encyclopedic?

Even though this is touted as official Team Fortress 2 merchandise, I don't really see where this article is encyclopedic; I am an inclusionist by nature, but even I think that this article smacks of advertising and doesn't really seem to me like it belongs. The discontinued Soldier T-shirt

We need someone to find a picture of this shirt, I can't find a picture of it anywhere. They definitely exist because I own one, it's just changed from cream to white thanks to washing machines. Omnomnick 04:16, 19 July 2011 (PDT)

The discontinued Heavy T-shirt

Does anyone know if there is a place where it is still possible to buy the discontinued heavy tee? ViToos 11:44, 10 October 2011 (PDT)

I guess if you could still buy it, it wouldn't be discontinued. Sorry =(

Grenadier's Softcap - black

The merch page says the product doesn't exist, but I'm sure they used to have it there. Anyone confirm as the cap being discontinued? Tabs 09:23, 7 December 2011 (PST)

NECA figures

I notice that many figures of the classes are missing, such as the engineer and spy. Why can't you get them anymore? I see you can get the red spy and engineer from Amazon and such, but for some reason, no BLU versions are for sale, despite genuine hats for them claim they are only obtainable through buying them. Anybody have an explanation for this? Alcatrax (talk) 12:03, 2 January 2015 (PST)

Catalog update project? Or Delete List of merchandise section?

I was thinking of tagging at least the List of merchandise section for deletion (how out of date is this?). For one thing, I don't see a reason anymore to have anything here like a catalog, especially since a significant portion of the present listings are now discontinued and the current TF2 offerings is greatly expanded and frequently changing.

I find the gallery of Discontinued merchandise interesting, at least, but I would not want to see inclusion of every single discontinued item ever.

If the List of merchandise section is to be kept (not deleted), then there should be a project set up with at least guidance for what limited selection TF2 merchandise should be listed and a process for keeping it updated.

If there is no response here, then I may go ahead with the section delete tag. I would want to keep the article since there has been reason to refer to the Valve Store in the wiki. MIKADO282 oOOOOo oo oo 18:05, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

We should split the article into two groups: buyable, and unbuyable

The Fiend (talk) 15:34, 3 May 2021 (UTC) This is due to a lot of the items on here you get anymore, like the phone cases or most of the cups

Do the Funko POP vinyls belong here?

If you didn't know, there have been Heavy and Medic POP figures out for a while. I think they would belong here, but if so, what section would I put them in? I don't even know if they're discontinued, it's almost like they're in limbo. Bouncypear (talk) 15:13, 13 June 2019 (UTC)

Delete

Delete the List of Merchandise Section: (see also previous comments)

  1. This section's content is much better provided by Valve's own store.
  2. As demonstrated by the present content (all broken links, several prices out of date, discontinued products) attempting to duplicate Valve's catalog here is unmaintainable.

The links and prices of the List of Merchandise section could be deleted and the images merged with the Discontinued merchandise images (I am guessing that the much of the present listed merchandise is now discontinued). There is a HUGE amount of current TF2 merchandise in the Valve Store, but it would be no service to the wiki to add any of that to this page.

Complete Revamp

With the closure of the Valve store there is no longer any official merchandise of team fortress 2 for sale, should we consider completely renovating this page to show all merchandise valve created for team fortress 2 from 2007 up to the closure of the valve store? If so should we include all of the apparel as images as this could bloat the size of the page for little given information? Furthermore should we include the prices of the items? I'll try and gather some information for this page and I'll try and update it soon.

Po1yb1ank (talk) 20:45, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

I think the price and "details" is unnecessary now that the store is shut down. I think the page looks fine as-is, just needs the merch history.
BLU Wiki Cap.png | s | GrampaSwood Praise the Sun! (talk) (contribs) 20:50, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
By merch history do we just create a new heading and leave the "WeLoveFine" section untouched?
Also should we add some of the more "unique merch" with details & images, I think people might be more interested in for example the bread gloves or the chess set rather than another black t-shirt with a mercenary on it.
Po1yb1ank (talk) 21:05, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
I don't think a new section is necessary, just adding onto that should be fine. We should probably update the template to not include the links anymore, but other than that just adding all of the merchandise that was available in the past should be fine, whether it's a shirt or a more unique one.
BLU Wiki Cap.png | s | GrampaSwood Praise the Sun! (talk) (contribs) 21:26, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
I can crawl through the wayback machine to get all the details for the stuff on the store but I think someone else has to update the template to remove the "details" dead link since I have absolutely no idea how to do that. Po1yb1ank (talk) 23:03, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
Good idea. Even when the store was open, this page needed work. I think there is "museum" value in preserving the fan items Valve produced for the game, especially those that got reference in the game.
M I K 🎄 D O 1 8 Ho Ho Ho .🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🎅 (contact)(Help Wanted!) 22:30, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
I'm going to begin the renovation of this article soon, I'll most likely have the unique items at the top, then references for the figurines to the NECA page and the ThreeA Toys , then the holiday and trading cards and then I might just use an extension to download all the images of the WeLoveFine template and then add that in along with old valve store stuff since when I'm going through the old archive pages there's a surprisingly limited amount of merchandise on the old valve store and on the new (recently closed) valve store the merchandise stayed the same from inception to closure. So hopefully I could get it turned into a sort of museum as you say. Po1yb1ank (talk) 23:03, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
Also in my research I've found out there is STILL officially licenced team fortress 2 merchandise for sale, and the wiki doesn't have any information pertaining to it, despite the company producing it even being featured on the official valve store all the way back in 2010. I'm thoroughly amazed it is still on sale but it also has very low numbers in stock. Also it's really expensive, you could buy two steam decks for the price of some of the merch still on sale. Po1yb1ank (talk) 23:02, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────}It's likely that if the merch is that expensive, it's not from an official seller. Either way, the content of the page should be stored in a template rather than on the page itself. This makes it easier for translators to put everything there and keeps it up-to-date.
BLU Wiki Cap.png | s | GrampaSwood Praise the Sun! (talk) (contribs) 23:16, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

I will have to figure out how to do templates but I can assure you that the merchandise is 100 percent an official seller, you can find links to it all the way back on the valve stores official partners back on the archive. Po1yb1ank (talk) 23:19, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
