Official maps only
I just feel a page showing only official maps and leaving custom made maps to its own page is a better idea. Please verify why my changes were not deemed valid -- MOOSHiE 10:16, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Please read over your talk page. Firstly this is something which needs to be discussed before the changes are made. Secondly before this wiki was moved to the official host, the maps page was plagued by many unfinished and poor quality maps. I think it's generally viewed as a better idea to have a category for custom maps instead of a page. Said category will then give the user links to each map's own respective article. A good general rule of thumb is that if the map in question lacks any real content behind it, I.E the general information that is commonly added to the normal map articles. For instance the lack of strategies and locations to name a few, then realistically it's fairly safe to say that the map in question should not be displayed. The current method acts as a sort of filter to prevent anyone from simply uploading any map they feel like, without providing the information in which Wikis are designed for. The use you're currently trying to change the pages to, as I've already said, is matched by websites such as TF2Maps and FPSBanana (Careful though, FPSBanana is currently facing Virus problems.) Please don't forget how many custom maps for Team Fortress 2 exist. We really do not want a long seemingly endless list of poor, orphaned maps that no-one has ever heard of or played. - Referring to the comment I made on my talk page, I just thought as the custom maps table becomes longer over future time a dedicated page should be made rather than fitting it in with the list of official maps. -- MOOSHiE 11:16, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think we should have custom maps on this page, nor a custom maps page on it's own. I think there should just be a category and nothing more. Please remove the custom maps from this page. -- Smashman... (t • s) 12:12, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Snow setting
I feel that this label could be upgraded to something a little less flat. While that is indeed what blankets the majority of the maps of that setting, the label itself isn't very comparable to the likes of the other current labels. I believe that changing the label to "Arctic" would suffice, although such may possibly overlap with the "Alpine" label, depending on how one defines the two terms. Disaster 05:37, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. "Arctic" covers a much broader idea, and fits relatively easily with the current naming scheme, while not distorting its meaning or making anything confusing. Plus, this would help to cover maps that may use an "Arctic" style, but contain no actual snow (e.g. Indoor maps, maps that simply use the same palette scheme and textures, etc.). This gets my vote of approval. StarYoshi 05:27, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Map Creators
Short post, but does anyone else think that community made maps that are made into official content should have their own column for their creator? The creator could have a link to their own wiki if they are a member and choose to do. Is this possible/desired? K-Mac 03:59, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
Can someone edit in the other developers of the Gravestone map? I cannot do so myself. They are: Riley "Sheltr" Aanestad, Michał "AsG_Alligator" Byczko, Zach "Exactol" Matuson, Liam “Diva Dan” Moffitt. Thanks! Ics (talk) 09:35, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
Bot Support
The above post gave me an idea, why not add yet another column that says if the map supports AI bots officially? you know, if it has navigation meshes. something like: "Bot Support; y/n", "Navigation meshes: y/n" or: "Supports Bots? y/n" or even: "Guy is a sexy beast? y/y" ... I myself would go with the last example... but either ways, what do you think? Guy 22:27, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Sortable table
I think this list would be better as a sortable table that also included dates.
I propose we change the page to this. --Pseudo 06:46, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- I started a discussion at Team Fortress Wiki:Discussion#Change List of maps to a sortable table --Pseudo 08:57, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Feb. 24th Patch
The Community Map Pack was added. I just added Nightfall to the list of maps, and Frontier was already taken care of. We still need to add Lakeside. SnowCanary 01:13, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Move to "List of official maps"
Since we have a page for custom maps, shouldn't we move this page to "List of official maps"? --Stevoisiak 22:21, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
Map demonstration project
Shall we have a project similar to the Weapon Demonstration Project giving an overview over the map with a video?
Of course it wouldn't be as consistent as the weapon demonstration, but I think this will be fairly easy and quickly done.

mvm_example
Is the example Mann vs. Machine map from the Source SDK content files going to be added to the list? eelikay 08:14, 27 August 2012 (EDT)
Ghost Fort
Shouldn't it be on the list? CLM 02:21, 26 December 2012 (PST)
Mannpower?
1. Game types excludes Mannpower. 2. Mannpower maps are listed as Game Mode "Capture the Flag". We should change that to "Mannpower". Evidence: Attack/Defend is listed under cp_ but we keep them seperate. Thoughts? ScottishDrunkard (talk) 04:35, 1 January 2015 (PST)
Confusion with the amount of maps
The Article states:"However, with various major updates, this has expanded to over 100 official maps and several new game modes added." My question is, who got the idea of "over 100 official maps"(!?!) because, to my calculations, there are 92 official maps, so either way, it has to be wrong... TheLEGObrick (talk) 11:06, 1 August 2016 (PDT)
- Next update. I promise. Oh, wait, there's already over 100. Done :) Mikado282 (talk) 18:19, 14 November 2017 (PST)
Unable to sort by Date Added
I'm no longer able to sort Template:Map types or Template:List of maps by Date Added. This used to work. Can somebody fix this, please? --Mr. Marlon (talk) 11:52, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
Template:List of maps (new)
I have created a table to be used for listing new maps on the List of maps page.
- The intention is that new maps be listed in this template as the entries are develop (as they are normally developed piecemeal) instead of at the top of the present list.
- That is to say, this is to replace point three of the current documentation.
- By way of addressing the normally piecemeal development, the template imbodies the
{{Recent addition}}
tag. - The template macro is to be placed in the Maps section of the List of maps page, just before the main maps list.
- When the month or event is complete and the maps have been worked into the main maps list, the template macro may be commented out until the next addition of new maps.
My thought is that
- Users might be more conveniently informed as to the new maps.
- Editors may have a cleaner area to work with for creating the new map entries.
If this is a bad idea, no harm done; we delete the new proposed template.
If this is a good idea, then we decide when to start using it, update the original /doc, and add a /doc to the new template.
Please vote.

- So if I understand correctly, the intention of this is template is to highlight the newest maps? I think that's rather redundant, as they can simply sort by date on the existing template.
