Merge
As PLR is a variant of Payload and not really a separate game mode, and since its content is most relevant to the article Payload, now that it has merged with Carts, it seems like a sensible decision to merge the two articles. At the moment, Payload Race is quite small in size, but if its content begins to expand in the future then it is fairly easy to split it off into a separate article again. seb26 [talk] 05:18, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

- Support I presume it would remain a separate entity on Template:Maps nav, if so then I support. -RJ 21:13, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose Might as well merge KotH with CP because they both have points to capture. -Shine[] 01:48, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- ??? Not comparable at all. The merge isn't about that they both have a cart, it's that they both have very similar objectives, in fact they are almost the same. Given the size of the current PLR article and the fact that it only has two maps, it'd be better off merged into Payload. seb26 [talk] 06:31, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
- PL vs. PLR: push cart
- Differences: both teams attack and defend at the same time, carts don't go backwards (except on slopes)
- KotH vs. Arena: cap point
- Differences: no respawing in arena, control point can be recaptured
- PL vs. PLR: push cart
- I just don't see how PL and PLR are any more similar than Arena and KotH. (yeah, i know I compared it to CP last time, but that didn't make sense). -Shine[] 07:11, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
- You still don't see? Even though your comparison pretty much states it in black and white? Arena, KOTH & CP are all totally different ball games, but PL & PLR – the only thing that really differs is that both teams can push the cart.
- Putting that aside, having the current Payload Race article stand alone doesn't make sense when you consider its size, the amount of PLR maps, and the fact that Carts was recently merged into the article as well. If in the future there are more maps and more material to cover on PLR then it can be split off into its own article again. seb26 [talk] 07:35, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Support - weak - I say we merge it for now, and when PLR takes off and more maps are made and gameplay becomes more complex, we split them.--Focusknock 10:19, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Support I don't think the comparison to Arena/KotH is very apt. Those are two very distinct gameplay modes whose only similarity is the Capture Point. Even then, the Capture Point is optional in Arena. Instead it might be better to consider Attack/Defend and Control Point. The Maps template at the bottom of the page divides the maps as though they were different modes, but both lead to the Control Point page, with Attack/Defend being a subsection of that page. The only difference between Control Point and Attack/Defend is that in Attack/Defend has only BLU capturing the points, whereas Control Point has both teams trying to capture points. To me, that is exactly the difference between Payload and Payload Race. Instead of just BLU pushing a cart, both teams must push their own cart. Any further gameplay differences are either succinct enough to summarize in a single paragraph or two, or pertain to individual maps themselves and should therefore appear on the maps' respective pages. --Alex2539 18:25, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Bugs
Since the dispenser being upgradeable has been fixed, wouldn't it be better to move it to the trivia and remove the Bugs header (until new ones appear ;D)? Sage J. Fox 22:51, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- I just played in a game where, before the gate even opened, the cart was pushing itself to the end. My team won and we never left the spawning area. Turtlebolt 07:52, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
- "Payload Blowout"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hv2xujB4p4 Can this really happen in-game, and should it be listed as a bug? DDSN 16:49, 3 September 2011 (PDT)
- I haven't ever heard of that happening before, it looks like the server you were on was modded so that probably has something to do with it. » Cooper Kid (blether·contreebs) 03:42, 4 September 2011 (PDT)

Overtime on Payload Race?
In Overtime, it says that Payload Races do not have overtime. In this article, it says that "During Overtime, both carts will automatically move forward slowly to prevent Stalemates. Pushing one cart stops the other from moving forward by itself." So which article is wrong? Bobomaster 14:57, 11 November 2011 (PST)
New Payload Dialogue
When did they add new Payload lines for the other classes, like the Medic & the Demoman? Before, only the Scout, Heavy, & Sniper ever said anything about the Payload cart. Does anyone know when it changed?

No cart backslide on payload race -- really?
The article in the subheading for Payload Race says "Unlike Payload maps, the cart will not move backwards after any duration of time." But doesn't that actually happen on Pipeline (pictured, ironically, next to the section) in multiple locations on the track -- specifically the ramped segments? - RomulusNR (talk)
- What that means is that when a cart has been left inactive for an extended period of time (up to 20 seconds), the cart will not start to regress on its own. It does not mean it cannot regress due to ramps and such. Emrfish6 (talk) 00:01, 28 March 2014 (PDT)
20 seconds or 30 seconds?
According to this article, when the car is left unattended for 20/30 seconds, it will rollback to the previous control point.
the section General says the cart will rollback after 20 seconds, while section Payload states it should be 30 seconds .Which one is correct? -- BEUFK-Contributions-Talk 13:45, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
- It's best to check in-game for yourself when it happens. Also your signature has an if statement, you could easily just replace it with the filename instead of having the template there every time.

using Payload (Objective) link when referring to pushing the Payload
I know that when referring to the control point/capture point the link is Control Point (Objective) does that apply to Payload as well or no? Zarioo12 (talk) 15:08, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
- I would link to Payload#Payload, as Payload (Objective) does not exist.
