Weed Soldier
The Weed Soldier refers to this image:
The image was originaly created as an edit of a scene from TEChulus's video Crystal Weed which came out on September of 2013, it is unknown who created the edit, but one of the first notable uses of the image was done by the tf2 youtuber Rapid シ as the thubnail of his video WEED IS NOW LEGAL IN TF2 which came out on February of 2015.
- Resurgence
Up to this point the Weed Soldier image (also dubbed :weed:) was just a random tf2 joke image, nothing more, nothing less, but the meme became very big in the community of the youtuber Chimparoncito around 2022, the image started to see use, in game on Conscientious Objector and outside of it like in profile pictures on several sites (mostly on steam), and even recreated in other games like MineCraft, this was all done because of challenge streams Chimparoncito did in which he closes the stream if he sees the image at all while playing tf2, the more times he did the challenge the harder it became, and the more popular the image became in the tf2 community at large.
At this point the image started to have variations of it created on the other classes, and was commonly used together with by this remix of Rocket Jump Waltz(created on April of 2020 by skylinee). Its most recent notable use happened on July of 2023 when the youtuber Richter Overtime used an edited version of the image with the word "Its Over" for the thumbnail of his video about the tf2 leak "Explaining TF2's Biggest Leak Ever"
- Popular Uses Of The Image
1-common edit video of the classes.
2-loadout created in tf2.
3-the image recreated insdie of MineCraft.
4-a fad created about Richter Overtime's use of the :Weed: in the thumbnail of his video.
5-:weed: on r/place 2023.

- Personally, I think although it does see a lot of usage, it isn't really notable. It seems like only a few notable YouTubers have the image as a popular fad in their community and it has only appeared a few times in the TF2 community as a whole. The most usage the fad sees seems to be related to one person's usage of the image in a thumbnail, which the thumbnail itself is the focus and not the Soldier image itself.

- I agree with GrampaSwood. While I've seen it a few times, it doesn't seem notable enough to be mentioned here. - BrazilianNut (talk) 02:39, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

The Demoman Moo meme is a meme where people play as Demo in 2fort, then they go to the cow right next to the entrance to the intel, and they say Move up while laughing right before Demo says "that." It should sound like he's saying MOO!

- I don't think this is nearly notable enough, considering it's only limited to 2Fort and doesn't see much widespread usage otherwise.

- I hadn't heard of it until now, so yeah, I don't think it's notable enough either. - BrazilianNut (talk) 17:14, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
Tick Tock
What about adding the fad of the buff mercs posing to Tick Tock by Joji? CriticalFeesh (talk) 12:09, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
- This meme mostly exists in the format of the same few GIFs/images with the same music, I don't think this fits the definition of "fad" very well. It doesn't see much widespread usage outside of the same format (the GIFs with the music under it), unlike other fads here which come in many different forms.

- I think it counts, this seems like a much more popular fad. It has many variations, videos, and the song itself has become a very popular part of the community. It's also become so popular that just hearing the song in a micspam will lead most players to react either positively or negatively. People have even recreated it by syncing it to the gunshots in-game. Finnodile (talk) 23:33, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

). - This sounds more like the song has become a fad, which I'm not sure is really something we can cover here as it's just a popular song in the TF2 community.

- Not sure this is really a fad, more just a popular video that people quote. It has largely died down and there isn't any example of it beyond the video itself. I'd vote no

Add Madcap
I think we can add Madcap on here. There's art, loadouts, his theme music and even recently a voice actor. FrancePain (talk) 13:55, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
- I think it would need to prove more long-term popularity. It seems like the popularity is also largely contained to r/tf2. There may also be issues with the fact that the class itself is AI-generated.

This is a bucket is a community fad from the scene of Expiration Date.
Video
In this scene, Spy says "This is a bucket." and Soldier reacts to it with "Dear God.". And Spy says "There's more." and Soldier responds "No."
"This is a bucket" has a page on Know Your Meme.
Yellow Devil (talk) 09:57, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- This cannot be a community fad. This is a funny scene created by Valve, the community doesn't add onto it at all.

SeeS or SooS?
SeeS or SooS? is a community fad made by notna.
Video
In the video, Soldier with a tiny head says "SeeS" and then Heavy with a tiny head like the Soldier says "SooS." And as this scene crosses over faster and faster, Spy says "SooS." Afterwards, Soldier makes a sad face and a seconds later, Medic says "SeeS."
There are a lot of variations of the fad on YouTube.
Yellow Devil (talk) 12:28, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- Doesn't seem noteworthy imo. There are plenty of voice line mixing fads like this, but they're not noteworthy.

Mimi-Sentry/Robots in General
An example of anthropomorphism of the Engineer's buildings. Original post here
Originally starting out as a fad in 2023, "Mimi-Sentry" refers to an anthromorphic personification of the Mini-Sentry of the Engineer as a robotic female. The most common depiction is to portray "Mimi" as the Engineer's daughter as a humorous extrapolation of an Engineer tip. "Mimi-Sentry" reached the point of there being Steam Workshop mods that changed the Engineer's buildings into the robots in question. Various animations often portray "Mimi" as a michevious "daughter" of the Engineer, or remaking Engineer memes replacing him with the "Mimi Sentry". The anthropomorphism quickly spread to not only the other Engineer buildings but even weapons of the other TF2 classes and even into other games. In general the Dispencer is referred to as "Miss Spencer" and the Teleporters are portrayed as "twins", which ultimate leads to portrayls as the Engineer and his buildings as a literal family.
The TF2 community often uses "Mimi-Sentry" as a meta-joke of how desperate/lacking in updates the game was to the point of creating "Mimi-Sentry" as a fad. Many fans welcomed the meme while others were ciritical of it, often complaining about how the robots were often depicted in less than savory circumstances. Despite this, the general consensus of the "Mimi Sentry" is to treat "her" as a wholesome loyal daughter to the Engineer.— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Akumaking1 (talk) • (contribs) 03:58 CEST 27/09/2024

- I'm not really sure how popular this meme is, or if this meme is actually really widespread. I'm personally inclined to believe this to be less of a meme and more of a popular fanart character, which I'm not sure fits on this article.

Sandvich
The Sandvich is an unlockable item for the Heavy, and is famous for the various, often humorous quotes he will say when using the item. In various animations and comics, it's popular to depict the Heavy as utterly obsessed with the Sandvich to the point of ignorning everything else, going into a depressive state if he can't eat it, etc. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Akumaking1 (talk) • (contribs) 12:38 CEST, 30 September 2024

- This is not really a community fad, this is a joke started by Valve itself with the numerous voice lines regarding Sandvich, and it's simply continued and turned into an extreme version by the community.

Kitty0706
Kitty0706 (real name Colin Wyckoff) was a popular GMod animator on YouTube, famous for creating animations like "Heavy's Retarded Holiday" or "Team Fabulous 2" which depict the TF2 characters (and often other characters from other games ) in often comical, surreal situations. Kitty0706 is often considered the golden standard of GMod animations of TF2.
In January 2015, Colin Wyckoff died due to leukimia, and his loss was mourned by the greater community, with other content creators creating videos to honor him. On January 10th, 2020, a Team Fabulous 2 redraw collaboration dubbed "Team Fabulous 2: Renamiated" was announced on Twitter to honor Kitty0706 and raise money for leukemia research.— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Akumaking1 (talk) • (contribs) 12:38 CEST, 30 September 2024

- Kitty0706 is not a community fad. A page covering Kitty would have to be under the Notable Persons Project, however, policy states that community personalities should not be covered so unfortunately we can't cover him here or on his own page.
