The Description Tag is a tool item that allows a player to give an item of their choice a customized description of up to 80 characters (including spaces), with some exceptions. Doing so will destroy the Description Tag, consuming it after a single use. Like the Name Tag, if the item used on a stock weapon it becomes a unique item and the player will "find" a new version of the stock item. The newly described item can be found in the backpack separate from the original stock item. If applied on any other item it will not create a new version. Custom descriptions will always be enclosed in quotation marks such as "Example Description". Changing the item's description does not affect its ability to be traded.
Some items (such as a Community Items) will retain their default description, which will be placed underneath the Custom Description.
Any eligible item, including those traded, can have a Description Tag applied to them, even if another Description Tag has already been applied. In order to return the item to its original state, select the item and use the button within the backpack normally marked "Use with...". Restoring an item to its original state will not refund the Description Tag.
Description Tags can be dropped randomly, found when unboxing a Series #3 or #7 Mann Co. Supply Crate, or purchased from the Mann Co. Store.
