Team Fortress Wiki:Tips Revision/Suggestions
Please sign any contribution to tip suggestions, be it a new tip or a suggestion for change, with four tildes (~)! |
This page is for suggesting new tips to be added to the project, or changes to the tips already in the Final page. Tips here will be regularly reviewed and, if of sufficient quality, will be moved to the Final page; tips not of quality will be left for editors to improve.

Formatting
Changes
When suggesting changes to current tips, include the existing full line from Final page, and your modified line below - this allows for easy comparison of your changes and for easy replacement within Final page.
* "Tip_1_1" "As a Scout, jump while in mid-air to change direction and avoid enemy fire." ** "Tip_1_1" "As a Waffle, invent a Dispenser to shoot chickens on the moon."
New tips
For new tips, simply suggest the tip's text - not adhering to tf_english formatting - this will be implemented if a tip is accepted into Final page. Feedback on new tips, or changes to them, should be given on a new line below the tip. Sign tips and responses to tips to make it easier to keep track of changes.
* "As a Waffle, invent a Dispenser to shoot chickens on the moon." ~~~~ ** "As a Chicken, invent a Waffle to shoot Dispensers on the moon." ~~~~ *** I'm not a chicken though? ~~~~

Scout
- "Tip_1_10" "As a Scout, hitting nearby foes with the Force-A-Nature will push them away from you."
- "Tip_1_10" "As a Scout, hitting nearby foes with the Force-A-Nature will push them away from you, which can allow you to follow up with another attack or flee from a stronger opponent."
- "Tip_1_18" "As a Scout, you and your allies regain lost health when hitting enemies drenched in Mad Milk. Initiate fights with it to improve your team's survivability."
- "Tip_1_18" "As a Scout, you and your allies regain lost health when hitting enemies drenched in Mad Milk. Coat enemies, and then attack to improve you and your team's survivability."
Soldier
- "Tip_3_19" "As a Soldier, you can use the Rocket Jumper to get to the front lines quickly. Be careful, however, as you will take increased damage from most weapons while equipped with it!"
- "Tip_3_19" "As a Soldier, you can use the Rocket Jumper to get to the front lines quickly. Be careful however, as it inflicts no damage at all, requiring you to rely on your secondary and melee weapons!"
- "Tip_3_19" "As a Soldier, you can use the Rocket Jumper to get to the front lines quickly without taking damage. Be careful however, as you will take increased damage from most weapons while equipped with it; and you will have to rely on your secondary and melee weapons to do damage back." -RJ 08:06, 21 October 2011 (PDT)
- Not sure of the wording here, tbh. Feedback? -RJ 12:03, 22 October 2011 (PDT)

Pyro
- "Tip_7_21" "As a Pyro, the Homewrecker can be used to remove enemy Sappers from buildings."
- "Tip_7_21" "As a Pyro, the Homewrecker and the Maul can be used to remove enemy Sappers from friendly buildings."
- Do we usually mention reskins in tips? I can see that getting a little tricky to manage, especially for all the Eyelander or Bottle tips. Balladofwindfishes 05:33, 21 October 2011 (PDT)
Demoman
- "Tip_4_13" "As a Demoman, when using the Chargin' Targe you can't change direction during a charge. Try to line charges up with where an enemy will be rather than where an enemy is."
- "Tip_4_13" "As a Demoman, when using the Chargin' Targe you can't change direction during a charge unless you also have Ali Baba's Wee Booties or the Bootlegger equipped. Try to line charges up with where an enemy will be rather than where an enemy is."
- I think the original is better; the Chargin' Targe on it's own doesn't allow you to change direction. If we were to list all the combinations & exceptions to tips, I think we'd end up with a very messy set of tips; so I think we should focus item tips on items as a single entity, rather than as combinations (inb4 100 examples of current tips that go against this). -RJ 08:06, 21 October 2011 (PDT)
- Removing this tip from the suggestions page in ~24 hours unless anybody has some alteration suggestions. -RJ 12:03, 22 October 2011 (PDT)

Engineer
- "Tip_9_18" "As an Engineer, the Gunslinger's Combat Mini-Sentry Guns build much faster than normal Sentry Guns and require less ammo to build. This makes Combat Mini-Sentry Guns the perfect offensive tool."

Scout
- "As a Scout, use Winger when you got to deal a lot of damage in a few seconds. One clip is enough to kill class with 125 HP at close range." - that's not perfect, but anyway, you understand what I'm talkin about :S
flutterravie Talk Contribs 18:17, 20 October 2011 (PDT)
Soldier
- As a Soldier, Liberty Launcher combines Rocket Launcher's blast radius with increased projectiles' speed. It is perfect to resist Pyros and Scouts.
flutterravie Talk Contribs 18:23, 20 October 2011 (PDT)
- Hmm.. I don't think it's clear how it's "perfect to resist Pyros and Scouts" - plus a good player of both those classes will still be able to put up an adequate fight. -RJ 08:39, 21 October 2011 (PDT)

- "As a Soldier, you can use %attack2% when wielding the Cow Mangler 5000 in order to fire a charged shot. A charged shot will deal additional damage, and will set the enemy on fire!"
- "As a Soldier, you can use %attack2% when wielding the Cow Mangler 5000 to fire a charged shot - which deals additional damage and will set the enemy on fire. Be careful however, as a charge shot depletes the Cow Mangler 5000s charge reserve."
Demoman
- "As a Demoman, charging into an enemy when wielding the Splendid Screen can cause heavy damage! In order to maximize its effectiveness against stronger classes, charge at an enemy from a distance and hit them, and then deliver a fatal blow with your melee weapon." ---
Esquilax 20:20, 20 October 2011 (PDT)
- Why "from a distance"? Doesn't the Splendid Screen deal full hit damage regardless of distance, or am I an idiot ,_,? -RJ 12:03, 22 October 2011 (PDT)
Heavy
- "As a Heavy, the Family Business deals less damage, but allows you to fire more often before reloading. This makes it an effective support weapon, especially when you are outnumbered." ---
Esquilax 20:20, 20 October 2011 (PDT)
- I don't think it's clear what is meant by "support weapon", and is the Family Business any better than any of the miniguns "when you are outnumbered"? -RJ 08:39, 21 October 2011 (PDT)

Medic
- "As a Medic, the Overdose increases your speed proportionally to the amount in your ÜberCharge meter! Equip the Overdose when you need to reach the front lines or make a quick escape!" ---

- I think this tip was suggested previously and I didn't implement it. Whatever my reason was before, my reason now is I think medigun related tips should focus on the benefit they give the team - and not the individual medic. -RJ 08:39, 21 October 2011 (PDT)
