Gender

In the class suggestion area of the TF2 main menu (right upper corner) pyro is being referred to as "her".

Why don't you give her a shot?

I consider this to be quite a confirmation enough to say that pyro is a woman. I've been on a many month break from TF2, but I know about the speculation and weird evidence for and against pyro being a woman. I'll be editing the article accordingly. --Maska 16:28, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

That may just be referring to the fact that the voice actor is male. Truly, I believe there is no definitive answer and Valve will never provide one. Just leave the page ambiguous and let the conspiracy theories fly. It's fun! --Firestorm   20:10, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
