The Life Extender Machines was first introduced in the Team Fortress comic "Loose Cannon" and has kept alive the two rivals Blutarch and Redmond Mann for over 50 years. The Machines themselves were built with advanced technology and Australium that increase the life of a human for an indefinite period of time. Practical, if the human "dies" while using the Life Extender Machine, it will take a couple of seconds to notice that it's user is dead and gives a electrical shock to bring the person back to life. In the "Loose Cannon" comic, Blutarch Mann asked the Engineer's Grandfather, Radigan Conagher to build a machine that could extend the lifetime to Blutarch so he could live longer then his rival-twin brother after a match that resulted as a stalemate. Upon arriving to his workshop, he runs into an ancestor of the Administrator who bribes him to build a machine for Redmond Mann as well, as a reward, Radigan gets a hundred pounds of Australium to use on the construction of the two machines. As the years pass and are reaching to the present day (about 1960), the former Engineer Dell Conagher get called in by his employer Blutarch and explains that the machine is broken and doesn't work correctly. The Engineer soon obtains his grandfather's blueprints to build a new and better machine, but Blutarch warned him to not build one for himself.
Trivia

Blutarch Mann's Life-Extender Machine was created on July 17th 1894, and Redmond's machine was created on August 3rd of the same year. However, there was a third machine created on April 14th of an unknown year for an unknown user.
- In the RED Spawn Room of Mann Manor, you can view Redmond Mann sitting in his chair with the Life Extender Machine hooked up to him.
- The machines were constructed by Radigan Conagher, grandfather to the current BLU Engineer, after he was exposed to Australium, causing him to act more like the typical Australian, including Texas shaped chest hair.
