I like it!
No. I lie. I LOVE IT. – Smashman (talk) 14:00, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Rather than show a redlink, could you show the Screenshot Needed image instead? --Firestorm 17:48, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
It would be nice if all the colour variants can be added soon, this is an awesome start <3 HyperJerk(talk)
Me too. Would be better also including the default RED version and set them in a 5x3 grid?--Kid Of The Century 09:42, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
Ellis' Cap
I couldn't decide which paint article to post this in, so I chose this one. Ellis' Cap does not appear to be paintable - it doesn't have an alpha map, and the .vmt associated with it does not contain the paint keywords/settings. On top of this, I haven't seen any screenshots of it painted - only the Mann Co hat. Are we sure it's a paintable item? Stewsta 11:08, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Broken?
Is it just me or are all the pictures broken/missing M-NINJA 21:16, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Order of table
With the two Team Spirit colours being appended to the right side, the rest of the table already being in a somewhat dubious "alphabetical most colours, then the two crate colours" order, the table now looks rather strange. I think we need to put things into a more proper order. Toomai Glittershine 01:21, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Problem with low screen resolutions (netbooks and such)
The hat pages layout gets broken with screen sizes such as 1024xXXX or lower. Example
I couldn't figure an easy yet pretty way of fixing it. I did a mockup of a possible solution here, you can resize the window and the layout won't break but it will look awkward.
Any ideas for how to fix this? Create another layout for the table? Using some more CSS hacks to look better? — Neo_Player (talk ▪ contrib) 03:43, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Pilky!
You uglied it. :( It looked nicer before, now I think it looks cramped. -RJs 22:22, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Ready For new images!
I made it all ready for the new paints once we get the images in! Also should the Team spirit be centered or left like this? -= M-NINJA =- 03:46, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Getting rid of the if-exists commands now means there's horrid red links on every paint able hat page until all the newly painted images are done. As for the Team Spirit, I prefer centred. - Devozade 04:03, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well mine didn't have the if-exists, pilk did that. Without them it makes those horrid red links (i think). Anyways updating the discussion version for center. -= M-NINJA =- 04:06, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
Regarding Color No. 216-190-216
For a lot of hats this color barely shows up at all. I propose it be given the gray background that white and business pants color have. Ssssssmokin 01:42, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- I completely agree. Some hats you can't even see Balladofwindfishes 01:55, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- Can you show some examples? —Moussekateer·talk 01:56, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- Master's Yellow Belt and Ye Olde Baker Boy are difficult to see the contrast between the item and the background, at least on my screen Balladofwindfishes 02:00, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- Can you show some examples? —Moussekateer·talk 01:56, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Various examples for consideration: Bonk Helm, Ye Olde Baker Boy,Stout Shako, Sober Stuntman, Football Helmet, Dealer's Visor, Engineer's Cap, Texas Ten Gallon, Prussian Pickelhaube, Gentleman's Gatsby, Master's Yellow Belt,Max's Severed Head, Ellis' Cap. Ssssssmokin 03:41, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- Done. —Moussekateer·talk 15:14, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- Excellent, it looks great. Ssssssmokin 20:41, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Un-equal width
The last 2 columns appear thinner on hat pages and it just doesn't look right. - Devozade 11:02, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
The different sizes of the columns annoy me to no end still! - Devozade 20:55, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
Toggle show - hide
What do you guys think of the painted variants navboxes having the "show - hide" option? I would find it pretty transparent, since right now these tables take a fair amount of space, which in the articles with little text looks, well, overwhelming. Another example - The Tossle cap. You could use the top menu to bet down to the bottom of the page, but that's not the point. real_alien (T/C) 03:28, 19 August 2011 (PDT)
- A show/hide button would be OK but I think it would have to still be on by default. They are a pretty popular part of articles so they shouldn't be hidden away (and show/hide boxes don't also stop the images from loading; the box will load, load all images and then disappear so to see it you have to click show again). As for the Tossle Cap, there were some proposals for a Tabs thing like the Item checklist so that only one style is shown at once... but I can't find it anymore seb26 03:38, 19 August 2011 (PDT)
See also
Would it be okay to add a "See also" section here, or elsewhere, to show all the subpages of the Template:Painted variants page? Rolandius 21:52, 14 October 2011 (PDT)
Colspan?
It's out of my league, but surely there must be a way to expand the colspan of rows that don't have four cells. That way you could have two 3-column rows for the greens and make the Unpainted cell stand out more.--Archdeco 07:48, 28 February 2012 (PST)
- I don't understand what you mean. The colspan at the end of the last (two-paint) row cannot be expanded; it fills all the blank space it's given. Having two unfinished rows also looks strange compared to one unfinished row. Toomai Glittershine 18:27, 28 February 2012 (PST)
Question about width
I have a monitor 1366px wide. On most pages, I see a big blank space between the paint table and the infobox on the right side, definitely enough for at least three more columns in this thing. I think making the table shorter by making it six columns wide would be a good idea (has to be an even number because the team colours come in pairs), but would it fit on common lower resolutions? Possible Overlinking
I've noticed that when this template is used, the team colored colors are individually linking to (RED) and (BLU). While this is theoretically useful, (if possibly excessive regardless) having each separate pair of paints link to RED and BLU is quite heavy overlinking. Could someone who better understands this template than me:
1. Make only the first paint pair link to RED and BLU
2. Remove all links from the template to those pages
3. Explain why 1 is infeasible/impossible/not
4. Explain why 2 is infeasible/impossible/not
