Updating

When you update this template, it might be a good idea to explain which patch it is up to date for, just so there are no collisions and the number is always correct. -- Pilk _(talk) 10:05, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Automatization

Since this template seems horribly outdated and rather painful to update, while still being an important template for the Cosmetic items page, it should probably be improved. Is it either possible to sum over the number of scout, soldier, pyro, ... cosmetics from other templates, or have a bot increment the counter each time he encounters a new item infobox page? Tournament medal headache

Are we counting tournament medal pages for the cosmetic item count? If yes how are we handling Tournament Medal? I see 3 possibilities being:

1) Every section gets a +1 (AsiaFortress)

2) Every subsection gets a +1 (AsiaFortress Cup and AsiaFortress LAN)

3) Every unique model (not recolors for placements) of a medal gets a +1 (AsiaFortress Lan 1st-3rd/participant and AsiaFortress LAN attendee)

Currently I think option 2 matches how it's being counted for every page (i.g. UGC has 4vs4, 6vs6, and highlander pages). As a numbers person I think the 3rd option is more aligned with the intent of how it's used on Cosmetic items, but would also mean all the tournament medal pages would need to have their custom medal models added to the count. Since valve stopped adding new medals I don't think it matters what's chosen since it should just be a 1 time adjustment. I think regardless we should add a secondary count to specify how many are tournament medals on the Cosmetic items page ("there are X cosmetic items and Y tournament medals" OR "there are X cosmetic items of which Y are tournament medals").
