Probably because it's not interesting or relevant. The association with the ace of spades has already been mentioned, and that particular example has no relevance to TF2. Moussekateer 22:57, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Soldier's Stash (One of the best hats)

The Soldier's Stash is probably one of the best hats that the makers of TF2 made. The Soldier's Stash can be equipped with other items, yeah. The infobox notes the equip region, though, and that links to Equip region page which covers it, so it isn't really necessary to mention it on the item's page. --Omolong (talk) 08:58, 5 April 2014 (PDT)

In answer to Bananbois’s general question, what do these helmets have to do with each other?: They are reference to service in the Vietnam War.

1. Each is an M1 helmet, an iconic Vietnam War holdover from WWII.
2. Each is decorated with helmet paraphernalia associated with the Vietnam War.
3. Each represent a distinct personal attitude towards service in Viet Nam:

• Soldier's Stash, gung ho/enthusiastic
• Shellmet, practical
• Fortunate Son, less than enthusiastic (citing no less than 5 references to avoiding death in combat; privilege, siding with the ascendant Communists, running, dodging, war/military protest) .

I see no reason in hoardind 'items of the same theme' in 'See also' section. What if we let's, say, bomb Half-zatoichi page with Killer's Kabuto, Menpo, Shogun's Shoulder Guard, Shaolin Sash, Samur-Eye, Bushi-Dou and Sangu Sleeves links? All those cosmetics are 'asia-themed' and thus will fit nicely on the page about katana. IMO, other items shoud be included in 'See also' only in few cases:

• They were made by same author(s) and contributed to Workshop as item set (ex.: Tsar Platinum and Starboard Crusader);
• They were parts of promotional for same game or event (ex.: Heavy Artillery Officer's Cap, Combat Medic's Crusher Cap and Heroic Companion Badge);
• They are directly related as different versions of same thing or derive from each other (ex.: Lieutenant Bites and Lieutenant Bites the Dust).

I acknowledge your points, but the points you offers are generally covered by either means, e.g., item Sets, disambiguation lists, Update Navs, etc. There was a mixed opinion about these M1 Helmets, IIRC, there already were incomplete see also, or worse, Trivia.

I think there is some Value to having some link between similar items as some user may be trying to find an item but can't recall the precise name. But, making the association a category or disambiguation future proofs the association (update the just the list rather than all of the articles).

I offer a challenge to create at least some of the following and replacing the present see also links (assuming nothing comparable is already made)). (I know there is Helmet, but that disambi is not highly convenient to someone wanting to find specific types of Helmets):

• Category:Asian themed items
• M1 Helmet (disambiguation)
• Category:M1 Helmets
• List of Vietnam War items
• Category:Vietnam War themed items

Item sets are barely in use now. Latest one was Monster Mash-Up Pack, added with Jungle Inferno (October 20, 2017 Patch) and before that was Sixties Sidekick (December 4, 2015 Patch). Plus, suggested sets are often splitted by Valve and parts of them are making their way to the game with years-long differences (ex.: Airdog was added in 2015, Wipe Out Wraps and Blizzard Britches were added in 2017 — all three items were made by same authors and uploaded to Workshop alltogether back in 2015).

I guess, disambiguation pages and categories would be perfect solution for that kind of sorting. Just don't make them too narrow, like, instead of something like Category:Companion Birds there should be Category:Companion Pets.

Category:Companion Pets.<< go for it. MMV on Pets vs Birds, depends on the individuals' interests. Helmet is way too broad to be of any use to me!!! It is not like I never made a category for my personal convenience. But for the see also on these items - I would not do it that way today. I think Helmet itself should be splitted for few lesser one entries, like, 'Military/Army Helmets' (for things that were modelled after real army helmets of sorts), 'Medieval Helmets', 'Oriental Helmets', 'Hard Hats', etc. I'll look closer at this later, after finishing updating russian pages for Strongbox Pack items, as they are still messy sometimes.
