Hat Describing コンテスト は2010年8月24日に開始されました。

これまでのTF2コンテストはコンピューターモデリング技術などを平均以上に持ち合わせていないプレーヤーに敬遠されていたという批判を受け、TF2チームはブログ記事上で Hat Describing コンテストの開催を発表しました。 その目的は、Steam フォーラムに登録している人だけでなく、大多数のコミュニティがアクセスできるコンテストを導入することでした。 コンテストの目的は、コミュニティメンバーが当時入手可能だった様々なゲーム内アイテムの説明文を考えて応募するというものでした。

Valveによって選ばれ入賞したエントリーは、公式説明文としてゲーム内の該当アイテムに追加されました。

ガイドラインと最終期限

Hat Describing コンテストの最終期限は、2010年8月27日でした。 提出物は、Steam ユーザーズフォーラム上に一連に特別につくられたスレッドの中に提出、という形を取りました。

提出ルール

• 75語以下で対象アイテムの簡潔な、面白い説明文を考え、提出してください。
• あなたは説明のたった一人の著者であるに違いありません。そしてそれはあなたのオリジナルでなければなりません。
• 各アイテムの勝利を獲得した説明は、TF2チームで検討後、ゲームにおいて採用されるかもしれません。
