油漆桶是一个能让你更改帽子的颜色的道具。目前一共有21种不一样的颜色，有13种颜色能在 Mann Co. 店里买得到。剩余的颜色只能通过掉落系统或者要打开箱子才能获取。

上了色的帽子可以恢复原来的样子,可是使用过的油漆桶是不会还给玩家的。

Valve在Steam论坛里发表过他们有让武器也能上色的计划,不过他们展示发展的方向是以整架玩家们的兴趣为主。

"团队精神"漆能让上了色的物品跟着玩家队伍的颜色而改变。玩家能在 Mann Co. 店里买到这一类的油漆桶。它现在的价格是相对于普通漆的价格为。"团队精神"是没办法通过掉落系统得到,不过玩家在打开第7号箱子时能有机会得到。

2010年12月2日更新

修正了预览上了团队精神漆的帽子时出现的一些问题。
改良了许多帽子上了色的样子。可上色的帽子现在看起来应该会比较自然。
增加了可上色的帽子: 士官战帽, 火焰兵的无边帽, 看似危险的太阳镜, 绅士的胡子与眼镜, 安全耳机, 猎人牙帽, 法国贝雷帽, 相机胡子, 麦斯兔子帽, Alien Swarm寄生虫, 伊利斯的帽子, 以及恐怖的劈头者.

添加了六种新漆色。 ("地狱般的粉色 ", "接近石板的颜色", "平淡榄色", "The Bitter Taste of Defeat and Lime", "The Color of a Gentlemann's Business Pants" 和 "Dark Salmon Injustice").

错误

Zephaniah's Greed 英文字母拼错了; 正确的拼法因该是 "Zepheniah's Greed".
在利用 +快速更换来更改玩家的负载时, 上了色的物品不会跟普通物品区分出来; 就是说如果玩家有几个同一类型不过是上了不一样的颜色的帽子, 不同颜色的帽子都会被忽视(当着是重复的)。为了防止重复的物品利用过多的空间， +快速更换只会显示一样物品。

琐事

色彩编号. 216-190-216 里的"216-190-216"是这颜色的RGB代表。
Muskelmannbraun 在德语里是"健美男棕色"的意识。
利用 DirectX 8 的玩家是看不到上了色的物品的颜色的；他们只会看到物品原来的样子。利用 DirectX 8 起动游戏时，油漆桶的物品描述以及其它玩家的携带描述都会出现警告。上了色物品在物品描述的下面也会出现红色字母写着： "Paint will not be visible on your computer (DX9+ required)"。
