Hi Clockwork, it seems that you are the main guy for image overviews, so I'll ask you this question. Namely, there are quite a few map overviews floating on the wiki that were made by a guy named Rins. Many of them are as old as 2011. Here are some examples: File:Thunder Mountain stage one.png, File:Hoodoo stage one.png and etc. Its obvious that a lot of effort had been put into these images, but they do not utilize the proper command for taking overviews, namely the cl_leveloverview. Furthermore, the utility they provide by marking the locations of spawn points and checkpoints will soon be replaced by the upcoming map overview indicators template. Therefore, I think the best course of action would be to replace these old files with new ones, what do you think? | Hi Clockwork, it seems that you are the main guy for image overviews, so I'll ask you this question. + | :I would say that it's alright to replace them. Given that their main purpose is soon to be replaced by a template, they don't use the cl_leveloverview command as most overview images now do, and the fact that the style of those overviews was effectively dependent on a user who has long been inactive, I think it's best to replace them and bring them up to the more easily replicable standard we use now. +
+ | Hello | ||
+ | |||
+ | I've recently been wondering on how to upload ultra high quality map overviews. The way I've been doing it this whole time; was to take multiple pictures of a single map while using a low level of the cl_leveloverview command (say 3 or 4), which doesn't show the map in full, but it does show a lot of detail. Afterwards, I would splice all these pictures together, until I pieced together the whole map. It is a lengthy process, but it yields desirable results so it is worth it. However, I recently came across :File:Upward overview.png, which has a ridiculous level of quality and detail (and the previous version was even more detailed). I tried searching for the tell-tell splice marks, thinking the author used the same method as me, but didn't find any. I feel like I am missing out on some crucial mechanic which is much faster then my method, any help?

+ | :Hi, sorry for the delayed response. I think the only other way to get images of that high of quality is by changing the game's resolution, since the quality of the images taken is tied to that. Unfortunately, stitching images together seems to be the only other method I could find to achieve that same result if the game's resolution can't be raised to that degree on your system. + | I see you've updated List of maps (as well as in the last update), I updated the template a while ago to be a more user-friendly updating format. Do you have any feedback on this format?<br> <span style="color:green;font-family:TF2 Build;">s</span> <font color="DB9C1F">GrampaSwood</font> (<font color="DB9C1F">talk</font>) (<font color="DB9C1F">contribs</font>) 12:45, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
+ | :I think it's vastly improved from the way it used to be. It's much easier to input info for the different parameters, and having developers handled separately eases the issue of having to put them in manually for each map, as well as the inconsistencies often caused by doing so. Removing the map settings also culled some admittedly unnecessary fluff on the table. Overall, it's far more seamless and streamlined, so good job! Hello, ClockworkSpirit2343!
Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Official Wiki!
Here are a few links to get you started:
- If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
- If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
- Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
- To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
- You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
- When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
- This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
- Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
- When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
- You can use the button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
- If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
- If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
- You can also customize your user page if you like.
- When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User ClockworkSpirit2343 to the file's name.
- Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:ClockworkSpirit2343/ to the page title when you create the page.
Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Wiki!

Custom Map pages
Hey, Please do NOT create pages for custom maps if you're not going to add content into them. If there is no content to put on it, Do not create it until you have them ready. I'm also referring you your recent edits adding a banner to pages with no content. So once again, Don't do it again unless you have actual content to add to the pages that make it qualify as a page. Ashes (talk) 00:49, 19 January 2014 (PST)
Discussions
Hey, Please check the last post of a discussion before posting. You revived an old topic that stopped in 2011. Please refrain from doing that. Thanks. Ashes (talk) 19:06, 24 January 2014 (PST)

Cosmetic Conversions
Hey there, I thought I'd message you about the recent edits you've made to convert certain things over to the cosmetics format, mostly in regards to the templates. In future, can you fix the ordering as well, rather than just removing the separator of hats and miscs? Without fixing the order, it can make things like the class navs much less helpful, as it becomes a block of text that's out of order, which makes it a lot harder for anyone who uses it to navigate to items. When it comes to things like Template:Unpaintable items list, the change doesn't make that much of a difference to when the items were still split into hats and miscs, other than the column referring to them as such now referring to them as cosmetics. If you don't have the time to do it in one go, you could create an extra user page for it that you progressively work on over time. If you can't do it yourself for whatever reason, or you need help, there are a number of editors that are active and understand these templates, and would be more than willing to help. You could post on their talk pages to contact them, or you could visit the IRC and contact them there, which does give a set of faster responses most of the time. Thanks. --Omolong (talk) 21:07, 12 February 2014 (PST)
Please remember that these are used on language pages as well. You changing the hat/misc links to "Cosmetic" works on English pages, sure, but how about the language pages? They definitely shouldn't go to the English page - they don't show the translated string for "Cosmetics" either. It would be appreciated if you'd go and fix these edits. Japanese Content Pack
Please explain why you are uploading all the files from this pack. The wiki is not a file repository. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 18:52, 24 March 2014 (PDT)
I am uploading the files so that the page fits with the other map making packs, like Bullet Crops Project, and Construction Theme. If this doesn't seem to be upload worthy then I shall take them off. ClockworkSpirit2343 18:57, 24 March 2014 (PST)
don't forget licensing
Thanks for helping upload the comic panels. Just don't forget to select the appropriate copyright from the drop-down menu as well. --Piemanmoo 18:56, 2 April 2014 (PDT)

Don't add "the X is usable with a Strangifier" notes just yet - we're in fact just discussing on the IRC what is the best way to present this information. I'm encouraging you to join (contribs ▪ talk) 11:42, 8 April 2014 (PDT)
Next time, don't give a chance
In the Template:Did you know said already that "Facts added ANYWHERE except for the BOTTOM of the "Add facts below this title" section are subject to deletion without warning. Do not place new facts in this section. Persistent neglect of this rule may result in a temporary block.". Please do the thing that noted instead of moving them to the bottom. Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 23:19, 19 April 2014 (PDT)
- I wasn't the one who added the fact, some new user added. I simply moved it to the bottom. ClockworkSpirit2343 10:28, 20 April 2014 (PST)
- But it was not added at the bottom of the Add facts below this title section. Even it's a good fact but it was noted that if not the bottom = remove, please do what note said next time. Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 11:02, 20 April 2014 (PDT)
Your redirects
Please do not redirect the new items. They are reskins, they should not be redirected. -- LordKelvin 18:20, 18 June 2014 (PDT)
Signature
Hello ClockworkSpirit, can you edit your signature to fix the red font? You probably forgot to close the red color string on your signature page. Danke! (I sneaked into your signature page, it should have two </color> at the end, as you used one for blue colors and one for red colors, but you just closed for one of them.). ▪ - 21:21, 9 August 2014 (PDT)
- I'll just take the double font color off since I really didn't like how it looked in the first place, so it gives me 2 reasons to remove the font. ClockworkSpirit2343 21:51, 9 August 2014 (PST)
- Thanks a lot! ▪ - 22:10, 9 August 2014 (PDT)
- Piggybacking off of this, if you could lower the icon size of your signature so it fits better in-line, that would be nice. There was a style suggestion a while ago which listed 19px for the standard inline size, but anything below 25px should read fine. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 20:13, 4 November 2014 (PST)

I noticed the redirect to the crates. Any idea of how we're going to tackle them? We putting them in seriesless crates, or giving them their own category? --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 16:36, 7 July 2015 (PDT)
- I say probably put them in seriesless or active series unless someone says otherwise. ClockworkSpirit2343 16:39, 7 July 2015 (PST)

Hey, where did you find those posters for the map? I've been looking all over GCFScape and I couldn't find them.

- I actually was browsing reddit when I saw a user had posted them up on an Imgur album (Here's the reddit page link [1]. They seemed clean enough, as I not screenshots from in-game but rather from the files, so I uploaded them here. If you'd want to know where they found it, I'd try to contact them by some means. Simple question
I was curious, what nationality are you? I nominated you for a Wiki Cap a while ago but left out the nationality flag because your page didn't have it listed. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 15:41, 8 November 2015 (PST)
- My main language is English and I'm from America, but I'm learning Spanish right now. ClockworkSpirit2343 15:43, 8 November 2015 (PST)
- Thanks. Just updated the page if you want a look. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 15:57, 8 November 2015 (PST)
Signature question
How did you make your custom signature? I kinda want to make one of my own. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 19:38, 17 November 2015 (PST)
- I made it just out of editing it over time, and eventually I went to my Preferences, went to the "User Profile" tab, and pasted it into the "New Signature" box in the Signature section. All mine is, is colored text with two [File:] images on the side of it. You can copy mine off this page and use it for reference if you want. ClockworkSpirit2343 19:42, 17 November 2015 (PST)
- Thank you so much man. Presenting the work in progress signature. -- Dr. Scaphandre 19:57, 17 November 2015 (PST)
Discussions
I know you're editing them just so you can have your signature on them, but please don't. It messes up the timestamp when you do that. -- Dr. Scaphandre 05:57, 18 November 2015 (PST)
- I know, I was going through them and I already finished changing the signatures, I just realized that it messed up the timestamps a bit too late. I am slowly going through and fixing them though, so hopefully it will be cleared up soon. ClockworkSpirit2343 08:38, 18 November 2015 (PST)

Compromise
Maybe my edit on the Shadow Boxers page wasn't the most professional, but isn't there someplace on the wiki we can show that coloring oddity I pointed out? Fhqwhgads02 (talk) 16:43, 2 December 2015 (PST)
- Personally, I'm not the one to decide where it goes. I was simply undoing your edit since there was a similar edit pointing out the color change that was removed before. You would probably want to ask someone else about it, as I don't really have much power over what happens with these kinds of things. I'd suggest checking the Trivia Style Guide before you add to any more trivia in the future, though, to ensure that this doesn't really happen again. ClockworkSpirit2343 16:52, 2 December 2015 (PST)
Bucking Bronco
Hey, please don't revert the small change i just did to the bucking bronco page, that's the correct translation. Alexelgeco (talk) 13:17, 5 January 2016 (PST)
- It may be the correct translation, but the English page doesn't say "The Bucking Bronco", it says "Bucking Bronco", so El doesn't belong at the front of it on the Spanish page. Keep it there if you wish, I won't revert it anymore so as to not start an edit war. ClockworkSpirit2343 13:42, 5 January 2016 (PST)
- The English page can also have it's mistakes, the official TF2 blog (and the patch notes) says "The" Bucking Bronco Alexelgeco 14:18, 5 January 2016 (PST)
I'm not exactly sure about your edit to the template.
Although the name of the template may have given it off, the template is only actually called once, under the cosmetics section of the Achievement items page. The documentation also specifically states "This template is a list to be used in the Achievement items article and its tranlated variants." Additionally, many achievements in that template don't actually relate to milestones, such as the Local Cinema Star achievement.
I believe this may have been an error on the naming part for whoever made the template. Perhaps it could have been named to show it's scope and specific application.
Either way, the choice is yours, you've been here longer. Blueberriess 16:49, 13 July 2016 (PDT)
P.S. There's a spelling error in the documentation: tranlated
I'm not sure why you tagged my image as needing improvement
I uploaded a new version of the image for the Special Eyes but you tagged it as needing improvement, saying that the pyro was photoshopped into the original image and that it was unnecessarily wide. The old image was tagged as needing improvement saying that the pyro needed to be added, so I added the pyro to the existing image. Was that something I shouldn't have done? I'm fairly new to updating images.
As for the image being unnecessarily wide, that was the only way I could get the pyro and engineer into one image. It's about as wide as some of the other images for multi-class items (such as the Hat With No Name)
Spib (talk) 02:19, 15 July 2016 (PDT)
- Well, most images like that are made using HLMV, not just photoshopping the classes on. The unnecessarily wide bit kind of stems off of this, as, if it were made in HLMV, the classes could be posed closer together shrinking the image length a bit. If you're interested in getting into helping with images, I suggest you ask around the wiki for some help. There's quite a bit of people that would be willing to help out. Sorry if you took any offense from the tagging btw. ClockworkSpirit2343 02:28, 15 July 2016 (PDT)

Why change table headers to white?
I specifically edited the header background color to be a lighter green just so the black text would work better. If you believe white text is better, fight me change the background color to a darker green. ⇒ Anyar (talk/contributions/giveaway) 12:57, 20 October 2017 (PDT)
- I just changed it since the color to the title of the Navbox was white. If you feel it looks better as black instead feel free to change it. ClockworkSpirit2343 13:10, 20 October 2017 (PDT)
- Not ClockworkSpirit2343 obviously, but I think white text looks much nicer and is better readable. That's why I made it white when creating the update nav in the first place. I'm not a graphic designer, though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Hagbard Celine (T · C) 13:11, 20 October 2017 (PDT)
Thank you and sorry
Thank you for looking over my edits and revising mistakes I inserted. Sometimes I get out of hand wanting to inject information that may be unnecessary. I hope at least that I've been helping the wiki in my flurry of edits so far, haha.--Akolyth (talk) 01:52, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
- It's fine, everyone can make mistakes, especially when they're knew to the wiki. I suggest checking out things such as the Style Guide if you're ever feeling unsure about an edit. Keep up the good work. ClockworkSpirit2343 01:57, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
- Oh yes, I read it and I should have been less accepting on things I typed I was unsure of. If this were Wikipedia, I'd press the Thank button for all your posts. I will actually keep watch for speculation myself now. By the way, I may join the IRC channel soon.--Akolyth (talk) 02:03, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
Gravestone tag
Could you be more specific about the tag, while I double-check the format? I did rush it. But, first, consider that I followed the format of Hellstone and Brimstone specifically, which were adaptation of Badwater Basin to the complexities of ICS's Halloween maps, and which I followed on the other Halloween maps I updated over the last year. M I K A D O 282 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 🎃🎃 🎃🎃 (talk) (To Do) 01:28, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
- It's mostly just that the information seemed more scattered around and unorganized when compared to something like Dustbowl, Powerhouse, Moonshine Event, Harvest Event, etc. It's not necessarily just in comparison to ICS' other map pages, rather other map pages in general. Once information is sorted through, I feel it'll be fine to remove the tag. Nothing specifically wrong with the way you're doing anything, information just seemed kind of all over the place when you compared it to other older pages. ClockworkSpirit2343 01:42, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
- 1) "gianormous" was taken from the Developer's commentary, but I don't see it now. It was intended as a direct quote, otherwise I wouldn't have used the word, knowing that otherwise it violated style.
- 2) You didn't have issue with the licence take in the lead?
- 3) Based on your comments wouldn't the stub tag be more appropriate? I would have stub tagged it had there not been warnings against using stub tags during updates during Jungle Inferno. Also, why not an image needed tag instead?
- 4) the comment provided with the tag is inconsistent with your comments here (direction to Style, rather than to Maps).
- 5) I would understand a stub/incomplete tag.
- 6)
I am of two minds about putting headings for Witching Hour and Bumper Car Race, I felt that the paragraphs were too small for level 2 headings, but is that what you are looking for? I see the point more for the Race as more can be written, and giving a heading for it can direct the expanding editor.Done. 02:39, 22 October 2018 (UTC) - M I K A D O 282 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 🎃🎃 🎃🎃 (talk) (To Do) 02:12, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
- For the "gianormous" quote, it's fine to have used it as it was taken directly from the map developer's commentary, even if it was typically against the wiki's more formal style. As for the stub tag, that's typically used on pages that have little to no information, such as only a single sentence like "x was added in y update." While it can be used for incomplete articles, I feel the page had enough information on it that the stub tag wasn't fully necessary. I looked at the page, and now that information has been properly sorted into separate sections and the wording has been changed so that it doesn't seem as informal, I'd say it'd be fine to remove the cleanup tag now. Sorry if it seemed like I was being a bit too nitpicky, just a bit of my OCD showing through in terms of wanting consistency, haha. ClockworkSpirit2343 16:11, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Trivia edit
Hi ClockworkSpirit2343, your recent addition of trivia has been reverted because it did not meet our trivia guidelines. In short, trivia entries should...
- ... be facts, not speculation.
- ... be about the released content only.
- ... not be obvious for somebody who has played Team Fortress 2 for a small amount of time.
- ... make the reader say "Wow! I did not know that!"
- ... not be information that belongs in other parts of the page.
For a full explanation including examples, check out our trivia style guide!
Your triva was pre-workshop trivia.

Map name changed
Hi there,
Where were these map names changed? It doesn't say anything in the patch notes.
| s | GrampaSwood (talk) 09:12, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hello. It's not written in the patch notes, but the way the names of the maps were displayed did indeed change. I noticed it myself, but it's directly visible in the diff file here. They all used to display as "VSH [map name]" in places like the casual map list and map stamp names, but with the most recent update, the VSH prefix was removed (except for Nucleus where it got moved to a suffix for some reason). I figured it'd be best to have them named how they're displayed in-game. Might actually be a good idea to mark it under undocumented changes on the patch notes as well. Replacing old map overviews
Lolimsogreat21 (talk) 12:14, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Lolimsogreat21
- I would say that it's alright to replace them. ClockworkSpirit2343 | (Talk) 19:22, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- I believe the template is not actually ready to be used yet. Last time I asked Wooki he said it wasn't done yet.

Ultra high quality map overviews
Hello
I've recently been wondering on how to upload ultra high quality map overviews. However, I recently came across File:Upward overview.png, which has a ridiculous level of quality and detail (and the previous version was even more detailed). I tried searching for the tell-tell splice marks, thinking the author used the same method as me, but didn't find any. I feel like I am missing out on some crucial mechanic which is much faster then my method, any help? Lolimsogreat21 (talk) 07:57, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Lolimsogreat21
- Hi, sorry for the delayed response. I think the only other way to get images of that high of quality is by changing the game's resolution, since the quality of the images taken is tied to that. Unfortunately, stitching images together seems to be the only other method I could find to achieve that same result if the game's resolution can't be raised to that degree on your system. List of maps update
Hi there,
I see you've updated List of maps
(as well as in the last update), I updated the template a while ago to be a more user-friendly updating format. Do you have any feedback on this format?
| s | GrampaSwood (talk) (contribs) 12:45, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- I think it's vastly improved from the way it used to be.
