The new mode in development. It has a lot of great information on the mode, powerups, and others. Plus, we really need to change the Featured Article. == Scout ==

 +
I think that it's time Scout was added to the featured articles rotation. Probably not a very contentious suggestion overall, but I'm just going to outline everything quickly so that we're properly following the guidelines here. I'd also be curious to see if there's anything in particular others wanted to pinpoint, before it is potentially accepted into the rotation.
 +
 +
Will outline some similar info to the most recent nomination (made for Pyro), since it's largely relevant here as well. Obviously the nine classes of TF2 are hugely important articles to this wiki, and should be some of our most forward-facing pages when users land on the Main page. There are only two classes not currently in the featured rotation - Scout and Demoman. With regards to the featured pages for other classes:
 +
 +
* The Scout article follows the same format and contains all the comprehensive information one would expect.
 +
 +
* It's well written, properly styled and very much a stable page.
 +
 +
* It has all the expected referential and informational media, which has been used in an appropriate manner.
 +
 +
* And finally, it's well-linked to various categories and pages around the wiki.
 +
 +
Let me know if there's anything within the article that could potentially be cleaned up or expanded, I'd be more than happy to add to the improvement effort if needed. Epsilonal (talk) 07:47, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

:I believe the last nomination for Scout was in 2014 (which I found here in Archive 5. Don't know if it just flew under the radar, but I did see that the Featured article candidate template remains on its talk page. Not sure how long it has been there for, so I figured a discussion would be useful here. Epsilonal (talk) 07:51, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

Nominating this page separately to Scout just in case opinions differ, but will largely be following the same line of reasoning.

Demoman is probably also overdue to be added to the featured articles rotation. Probably not a very contentious suggestion overall, but I'm just going to outline everything quickly so that we're properly following the guidelines here. I'd also be curious to see if there's anything in particular others wanted to pinpoint, before it is potentially accepted into the rotation.

There does exist a prior Featured article candidate template on the talk page. Was not able to determine how long ago this was added, but judging by the archives I'd say it's probably due for a discussion as well. == Eureka Effect ==
 +
 +
The Eureka Effect is a very interesting weapon for the Engineer with a very useful caracteristic: the ability to teleport either to your base or your exit teleporter. Modifing, at least a little bit, the playstyle of the Engi and given the player more mobility and different ways to play with.
 +
 +
My reasons to nominate this article are the following:
 +
 +
* The article is well written
 +
* Gives players useful information about the weapon
 +
* The media used is very informative and is properly made, as expected
 +
* Introduce the weapon to newer players
 +
 +
With nothing more to say, I would like to see this article featured on the front page since is a very well written article and the weapons itself is cool and interesting to use, even tho I don't play Engineer that much. <small>— The preceding unsigned comment was added by BIOS (talk) • (contribs) 21:56 CEST, 30 November 2023</small>

Bumper Cars
 +
I'd like to make the case that Bumper Cars should be a Featured Article after 3805312 from Kibblekip. This turned from a very small page to a much bigger and well-written article that covers its functionality extensively, as well as covering minor things like the HUD, achievements, the associated spells, and a fun quote. The fun quote is not necessarily relevant, I just like Merasmus a lot. I believe this page, although small, should become a featured article.
 +
 +
Unfortunately, I can't put Featured article candidate on it due to the glorious Flow talk page system we all love so much.<br> <span style="color:green;font-family:TF2 Build;">s</span> <font color="DB9C1F">GrampaSwood</font> (<font color="DB9C1F">talk</font>) (<font color="DB9C1F">contribs</font>) 14:37, 10 September 2024 (UTC)

I nominate the page Backstab, as it shows the proper Featured article criteria and contains information that any person that uses the Spy class should really tune into.

: update. While the page is surely in a better state, I wouldn't say it's outstanding (half the page is shared with the Magic Spells article). :: I'd be in support of adding Bumper Cars to the video demonstration project page potentially, and create a demonstration video to show off the bumper cars and the mechanics/spells used by them? I'm unsure if the spells portion would conflict with the existing demonstration for the Spellbook Magazine, but it seems that demonstration does not include bumper car spells anyway. As mentioned too, a 3D-view of the bumper cars would certainly be a nice-to-have as well (images with the classes would be good for showing the different body proportions).<br><font color="7D4071">Kibblekip</font> <font color="803020"><b>T</b></font> | <font color="256D8D"><b>C</b></font> 03:47, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

A very well-formatted page with a very comprehensive and detailed description of the subject. The page is colorful with plenty of pictures. : Support Given that a merge proposal has been made regarding the RED and BLU articles, I think it appropriate to revisit the FA status of RED and BLU. The argument for merge is that the articles are redundant. A counter-argument is that that very redundancy is fundamental to the themes of the articles. If the two articles are intentionally so similar, and if the decision falls against the merge, then BLU should have at least a brief, if long overdue, stint as featured article if only to complete the intended symmetry. : Support Definitely agree. I've made some progress on making the RED and BLU pages more consistent with one another (and will continue to do so). If the RED page is Featured Article material, then it follows that the BLU one should be too, since they're basically identical. It also makes a lot of sense, since RED and BLU are some of the most fundamental hallmarks of TF2 - they should both be featured equally, especially since the game favours neither side. == My scout partner just gets in the way... ==
+
:oppose I definitely agree that it's surprisingly detailed for a new article - however I personally don't think it's really 'featured article' material. To me, it's just a standard cosmetic page that has a lot of styles for every class available. Beyond the extensive descriptions, I don't see much that stands out to make it especially well linked, informative or referential compared to similarly complete cosmetic pages from the update such as the More Gun Marshal or the Cabinet Mann. I did notice that the images need to be redone according to the article itself, so I don't think it's really ready yet regardless. Epsilonal (talk) 00:13, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
Truth is your partner is very, very helpful, Don't just see him as a "kill stealer" but as a important asset. You and the other scout, when combined together, can be a deadly force. A "meat shot" can do 100+ damage, thats a soldier down in 1 shot from each of you. But though the other scout is important, you two run the risk of clashing, thus you have to figure out how you will work together, whether is be as a team or a pocket and roaming scout, you must work this out prior a scrim to ensure your deadliness.
+
:oppose As said, it's well-done for a random cosmetic certainly, but not exactly front-page material. It's not oozing with interesting info that shows off what the wiki can do.-- <span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: Trebuchet MS">Akolyth</span> (talk) 22:06, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
Generally the scouts go together, this strategy gives an advantage in duels and against high risk targets like soldiers. Roaming and pocket scouts can be effective, because enemy scouts will be trying to kill your medic.

However i will be focusing on scouts staying together. Well firstly, you obviously don't want to be right up your partners rear, so you should keep a safe distance away from each other where either one of you could easily support the other. Secondly, don't be afraid of stealing the other scouts kills, just get the job done. A battle is never fully decided until its over, so just go by this rule: Two scouts are better than one.

Those are the mains tips you will need, the rest you and your partner have to work out.
+

Role
+
Hightower
The scouts main objective is straight forward, eliminate key targets and cause havoc behind enemy lines. However, though thats a rough outline a scouts job can be a huge range of things, as i've said there could be a pocket scout who will protect the medic and a roaming who will run around using hit and run tactics.

So scouts should rank their targets according to priority.

1. Demoman

2. Medic

3. Roaming soldier

4. Pocket soldier

5. Scout

6. Scout

The demoman and Medic can be interchangeable as can be the roaming soldier and pocket. However, use your brain if their medic and demo are supported well be the soldiers and there is no clear way to get to them with little damage taken, DONT BOTHER! don't rambo and try and take down a whole team, this will only result in death. Use your speed to your advantages and chip away at their health until you soldiers can hopefully separate them a bit.
+
Hightower is one of the most popular maps and may be the most popular Payload Race map. I say we nominate it, because we already have 2fort.
 +
----Slimyboi500 (talk) 02:49, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

Roaming: The reason Roaming is above pocket is that the roaming will generally have lower health or the normal 200 and is usually found away from the medic making him a easy target if your smart. The roaming soldier will generally act as more of a scout and can easily be flanked and taken out aslong as you have the advantage there.
+
: neutral Hightower is quite popular, certainly the most popular PLR map, but I do not think that qualifies it for a featured article simply because it's popular.<br> <span style="color:green;font-family:TF2 Build;">s</span> <font color="DB9C1F">GrampaSwood</font> (<font color="DB9C1F">talk</font>) (<font color="DB9C1F">contribs</font>) 14:41, 10 September 2024 (UTC)
Pocket: Yes the pocket is next to the medic but even if the medic is dead he will most likely still be over healed to about 300 and will be very hard to kill, when the medic is dead...run.

The demo: The demo is generally fairly easy to take out depending on how well his team supports him, just make sure you have the advantage and watch out for sticky traps, try and get behind him if possible.

Medic: The medic can be a tricky class to kill, try and get behind him and get as close as possible and try and get him with 2 or 3 shots if the soldiers see you, run, you can try and dodge and finish the medic but that is a "high risk high reward situation" though can be just what your team needs to over power the enemy.

Scouts: as i said in my earlier article, dueling scouts comes down to aim. This is where your team mate comes in, if you and your team mate engage a scout the chances are you will win with plenty of health to spare. Don't worry about being cheap, the goal is to win.

TIP: if your health is low and the enemy scout is in equal standing with you but has more health, run around a corner, turn around and charge him. He will not be ready for your aggressive attack and with him coming close to you and you to him your damage will be high.

TIPS
+
: x. A map being popular is irrelevant. 2Fort is featured not just because it's iconic, but because it's a well-written article (err excluding the "helpful overview" section, which is... definitely a mess). — <span style="font-weight:bold;color: #5BC236">Tark</span> 03:01, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
1. It's tempting to take a health pack but you shouldn't (unless your on fire), leave it for your medic and remember, he can heal you but you cant heal him.
+
end
2. Don't run in and go for kills, chip away at the enemies health. Its a scrim, so its not about your score.

3. Ninja capping can be a very effective way of ending the round quickly. This is where as your team is capping you wait at the next point and start capping as soon as your team is done. Beware this can be very dangerous and is sometimes too risky.

4. Don't take criticism to heart. Scouts can get "abused" or told off frequently, mainly because people cant see what you're really doing but also because you (and the demo) should carry the team, you job is very important.

5. Always have fun, take a lose as a lesson learnt and work to improve. You will get there

Scout

I think that it's time Scout was added to the featured articles rotation. Probably not a very contentious suggestion overall, but I'm just going to outline everything quickly so that we're properly following the guidelines here. I'd also be curious to see if there's anything in particular others wanted to pinpoint, before it is potentially accepted into the rotation.

 • The Scout article follows the same format and contains all the comprehensive information one would expect.
 • It's well written, properly styled and very much a stable page.
 • It has all the expected referential and informational media, which has been used in an appropriate manner.
 • And finally, it's well-linked to various categories and pages around the wiki.

Let me know if there's anything within the article that could potentially be cleaned up or expanded, I'd be more than happy to add to the improvement effort if needed. Epsilonal (talk) 07:47, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

I believe the last nomination for Scout was in 2014 (which I found here in Archive 5. Don't know if it just flew under the radar, but I did see that the Featured article candidate template remains on its talk page. Not sure how long it has been there for, so I figured a discussion would be useful here. Epsilonal (talk) 07:51, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

Demoman

Nominating this page separately to Scout just in case opinions differ, but will largely be following the same line of reasoning.

Demoman is probably also overdue to be added to the featured articles rotation. Probably not a very contentious suggestion overall, but I'm just going to outline everything quickly so that we're properly following the guidelines here. I'd also be curious to see if there's anything in particular others wanted to pinpoint, before it is potentially accepted into the rotation.

 • It has all the expected referential and informational media, which has been used in an appropriate manner.
 • And finally, it's well-linked to various categories and pages around the wiki.

There does exist a prior Featured article candidate template on the talk page. Was not able to determine how long ago this was added, but judging by the archives I'd say it's probably due for a discussion as well. Let me know if there's anything within the article that could potentially be cleaned up or expanded, I'd be more than happy to add to the improvement effort if needed. Eureka Effect

The Eureka Effect is a very interesting weapon for the Engineer with a very useful caracteristic: the ability to teleport either to your base or your exit teleporter. Modifing, at least a little bit, the playstyle of the Engi and given the player more mobility and different ways to play with.

My reasons to nominate this article are the following:

 • The article is well written
 • Gives players useful information about the weapon
 • The media used is very informative and is properly made, as expected
 • Introduce the weapon to newer players

With nothing more to say, I would like to see this article featured on the front page since is a very well written article and the weapons itself is cool and interesting to use, even tho I don't play Engineer that much. Bumper Cars

I'd like to make the case that Bumper Cars should be a Featured Article after the overhaul from Kibblekip.

Unfortunately, I can't put Featured article candidate on it due to the glorious Flow talk page system we all love so much.

Pictogram neutral.png Neutral It feels somewhat awkward of me to comment on given I did a lot of the overhaul, especially given I don't have much of value to add anyway, but I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to it being featured. I'm in agreement though that it may be better to feature the Magic spells page instead (or as well as) due to the shared information between them.
Kibblekip T | C 00:44, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
Pictogram info.png On hold. While the page is surely in a better state, I wouldn't say it's outstanding (half the page is shared with the Magic Spells article). It could use some images of the classes, maybe even a 3D view or video showcasing the controllers/movement/spells. — Tark 03:01, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
I'd be in support of adding Bumper Cars to the video demonstration project page potentially, and create a demonstration video to show off the bumper cars and the mechanics/spells used by them? I'm unsure if the spells portion would conflict with the existing demonstration for the Spellbook Magazine, but it seems that demonstration does not include bumper car spells anyway. As mentioned too, a 3D-view of the bumper cars would certainly be a nice-to-have as well (images with the classes would be good for showing the different body proportions).
