Particle effects to be added
* Perhaps the best way to group effects would be by type, (i.e. hats, weapons), and include an 'Other' section if necessary

* Weapons

** GRU skulls ()

** Medi Gun particles ()

* Hats

** Unusual hats ofc

The issue with this system is how to deal with particle effects that span multiple types (like how the community sparkle is on both hats and weapons).

So what do. <font color="#000">seb26</font> [[User talk:Seb26|<span style="font-size:95%; color:#EA6B1C;">[talk]</span>]] 20:51, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

:Agreed. Considering the problem with the community sparkle small notes could just be added. Also, as long as this is the article on particle effects shouldn't ALL the particle effects be added; Rocket trails, explosions, medibeam, etc.? Or should it just be kept simple to player and hat effects? --Garticuno 08:57, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

::I think the main problem with this article is that the large images waste space. I think the best way to cover this would be to change the first paragraph or so to be more informative to what Particle Effects are, e.g.

:::"Particle Effects are visual effects that are used to simulate things that would normally be too difficult or a waste of computer resources to render using conventional means, such as fire, snow, blood or sparks. In Team Fortress 2, particle effects are used either as visual cues; such as the Healing Beam from a Medi Gun or Dispenser, or as decoration; such as those used in Unusual Hats or Community Weapons."

::Then, have the next section list all the particle effects in an unordered list, in about three columns, with each particle linking to a picture of it. We will excluding those used on Unusual Hats, which will be displayed in a separate section in a table. You digg? --Flying Pyro 18:43, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

::: Nope, this isn't a good place to document what a particle system is. It's better explained on the developer wiki which is linked to in the article summary. -- Lagg 21:20, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

:I've noticed that the Mad Milk and Jarate effects are missing from the list, as well as the bleeding effect and the water effect seen when coming out of the water. Taser9001 03:04, 10 February 2012 (PST)

Flying Bit: Aesthetic or Attribute?
I tried doing a reshape of this page, and we come to discuss whether the Flying bit should go in Attribute of Aesthetic section.

<br>Personaly I consider it's more of an aesthetic effect than a attribute, eventhough it can show if a pyro is near by seeing a ragdoll, but I don't consider it equivalent to the GRU or overheal Effect. We'll do depending on the result here. Tturbo 23:31, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

The New Particle Images
Not to be a negative-Nancy, but some of these don't look right. I assume they were taken from tf2tp.com, which is all well and good (providing we have permission of course), but if so these images were not made for a white, light, background. In the particle areas (such as the blurred trail left by the moving heart or the sun-beams) they are dark and dirty looking. I'm sure this looks fine on tf2tp.com but here, well, I think we need something else.

For example:

Sun-beams

TF Logo

Alternatively of course we could change the table to have the same color background as the dark edges thus making it look correct. -- <span style="color:#0e5c76;font-size:13px;font-family:'TF2 Build';text-shadow:#e3e3e3 1px 1px 0px;">Benjamoose</span> <span style="font-size:10px"> (talk | contribs)</span> 21:01, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

: I was the one that put those up - they were taken from the download at TF2B.com, and I'm not entirely sure why they were deleted rather than simply having the copyright updated. If there's a better way to do the table, I'll be glad to reupload the images with the proper info and let someone else fix the table the right way. GJ 15:50, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

:: As far as I can see, using the effect images on this page would constitute a "derivative work", which is not permitted by TF2B's license. I can also confirm that the images in question are not present in the game files. <span style="color:#577;text-shadow:#222 1px 0;white-space:nowrap">— nVis </span> 15:55, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

::: Would it be a "derivative work?" The same icons are used on this page... GJ 16:31, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

:: I deleted them not only because of potential copyright issues but because they just aren't needed on this page. We're documenting the sprites and effects themselves and occasionally showing in game shots, not using community made images. Please don't upload them again. -- Lagg 20:13, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

::: No problem. Was just curious of why they were deleted rather than just having copyright updated. Makes sense though. GJ 20:37, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

on the map Pl_Frontier final li'l chew chew emits steam, technically isn't that a particle effect?

: That's in a map.  There are tons of map particles, they aren't going to be listed here from the looks of it. -- Mexican 22:00, 18 August 2011 (PDT)

New effect screenshots (from 8/19/11)?
Any idea on if/how/when we can get some screenshots up of the new unusual particle effects? I'm sure people are curious to see what they look like.

At the very least, could we put placeholders on the page so people know that they exist, and we just don't have pictures of them yet? SpikeX 22:42, 18 August 2011 (PDT)

The "marked for death" symbol should come here too, correct? If the GRU is mentioned. BASEBALLFURIES 08:51, 7 November 2011 (PST)

:"Marked for Death" is not a particle effect but an icon which hovers above a player, similarly to the domination symbol. In-game name of the effect was changed to "Genteel Smoke". I guess there will be need to re-translate it in other languages, waiting for Valve to update strings on Translation Server. Razor-X 03:21, 23 March 2012 (PDT)

Circling caliber bullet a particle effect?
Is the circling bullets from the Dueler a particle effect? If so, needs to be added to this page so I can link it on the page for the Dueler. Thanks. Reverend 17:45, 28 March 2012 (PDT)

:When it says there are bullets circling the hat, it means there is a circle of bullets around the rim. They don't move. Robin Walker has two Valve Eyelanders in his inventory: one having the "Flying Bits" effect, the other having "Particle 1". Can anyone confirm what it looks like? It can be found here. :He has a third one with an invalid particle now! I also have misplaced his valve rocket launcher.

Community-created content credits
Community contributions tend to have their creators credited somewhere in the article about them, but this is not the case for the many Unusual effects made by players - their works go uncredited in the wiki.

I think we could have a "Community credits" section at the end of the article, maybe with a collapsed table, listing all the community-made effects together with their creators. - BrazilianNut (talk) 17:23, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

::How about a See also section with a link to that, then? - BrazilianNut (talk) 17:35, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

:::Add a cross (†) after each Unusual that are community-created. Then, on the same note explaining the cross, add a link to the Unusual Cap owners. So, it would be something like this:<br>

:::†Indicates community-created Unusual effects. Check List of Unusual Cap owners to see their credits. - ▪ - 18:06, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

::::Considering most Unusual effects are now community creations, that would be a lot of crosses...

::::Maybe add both "Unusual Cap" and "List of Unusual Cap owners" to See also? - BrazilianNut (talk) 18:53, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
