Hi there, I saw that you contributed the hat unusuals effect pictures for the Summer 2024 update, have you had any issues opening the .pcf file containing these unusual effects? I'm trying to contribute the taunt unusual effects, but the .pcf file (only this file) containing those effects keeps crashing Source Filmmaker for me and it's confusing me on why it is. :::Done, after figuring out solutions to a few more technical issues. This batch in particular seems to run into a lot of issues when put into SFM. ~ Boba 06:39, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
Boba, why...why are you deleting all of the self-made pages you've reworked in your sandbox? Why are you destroying months of your work, just because no one offered you help? I mean...its your sandbox, do what you want with it, but it seems to me that you have been working on this massive project for almost a year now (Unless I missed something), and it would be a really, really big shame if it all went down the waste. So here, I'm offering you help, let's finish these dammed self-made pages together!

::::So not really in the much of a solution for this update's unusual effects just due to SFM being the way it is? Wouldn't surprise me if that is the case, thanks for looking into it however. :::::SFM does not use the same version of the particle engine as TF2. It is simultaneously both updated and outdated in different ways. It's not uncommon for effects to render incorrectly or straight up crash. This specific batch had the most amount of issues I've had to fix for an Unusual batch to date, due to the technical aspects of some of the effects. The only way to fix it is to work around it or spend a few hours isolating the problem effects and editing them directly. ~ Boba 19:04, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

:Thanks for the offer, but they were right when it was too much work. While it’s not too much work to be finished, it IS too much work to be rejected outright once it’s finished because Tark stands by his opinion about the page as a whole, and I’m not one to waste time. I’m not a fan of having a whole big project like this rely on someone else’s opinion, so I hope you can understand the reason I requested it to be deleted. Thanks. ~ Boba 18:53, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Template:Cerebral Discharge Killstreaker effects, and Cleaning Out Unused Templates
so, I'm working on cleaning out Special:UnusedTemplates. sort of. I think it's a bit of a Sisyphean task. anyway, among the list of unused templates was Template:Cerebral Discharge Killstreaker effects. its purpose is served by a table on Killstreak Kit, and your edit summary on creation just says, "test of format." was it supposed to be a sandbox for making the currently-used table? do you have plans to use it in the future? or can it just be deleted now, having served its purpose? == About Energy Orb effect ==

Hey, It's me Archimo, tried to help a viewer with sufficient proof regarding the energy orb situation, Would just like to try and clear this whole thing up about the Energy Orb effect so the information can be correct on the wiki, According to the wiki it couldn't be unboxed after Tough Break in 2015 from all decorated cases and it were removed from all unusual pools as well, It's currently not unboxable but this happened back in Jungle Inferno Oct 20th 2017 when they went over to case global effects as seen here: https://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=31834 talking about how cases will work in the pyro update later named the jungle inferno update.

Further more I unboxed an energy orb rocket launcher myself a bit above a month before the Jungle inferno update which according to the current information on the wiki it isn't possible since it were removed from all unusual pools in the tough break update of 2015. If the claim is that I recorded this video while it were still unboxable I think the fact that my only video from 2015 were recorded on phone and my videos for the first year or something were done with a trash mic, then I can also provide the backpack compare link (but wiki won't let me post it) where you can go to the history despite the rocket launcher showing as just an unusual stock rocket launcher with energy orb the history will work and go to the right item, where you'll notice it says the ID were first changed in 2019 until then it had the original id If any changes happens to an item or if it gets moved to let's say steam community market or you make any changes to it even a description tag etc, it's id change from the original id, considering that it were obtained on this compare link date it means that it were unboxed during 2017, which means the Wiki is incorrect about the tough break update being when it were removed. : Hi, I've reworded the notice on the Gun Mettle Unusual effect template to say "Removed from future Unusual pools in the Tough Break Update". According to a few sources, including your video, the Energy Orb effect was able to only be unboxed on the Gun Mettle series of cases, while being removed from future case pools. However, there is currently nothing concrete that I know of that documents the exact time the Energy Orb effect was also removed from Gun Mettle cases, rendering it completely removed. You would have to find proof, preferably through a diff, as your video, the backpack link, OR the blog post have file evidence proving what patch the effect was fully removed in.

: TL;DR: I changed the wording on the weapon Unusual template. Please only change it back if you find concrete evidence through things like diffs and come to me about it. Thanks. ~ Boba 03:31, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

:: I currently do not see any changes on the unusual page. Maybe we can just word it to "taken out of future unusual pools during tough break & sometime after 2017 removed completely", in the unusual display where it currently says: "*Removed from all Unusual pools in the Tough Break Update" while in the 2015 tough break patch note as "Only appears in the Unusual Pool from Gun Mettle Going forward & were removed completely eventually", just to specify they were only ever available in the gun mettle cases and were later removed completely? Also I never did any edits to it I just provided the proof that the current info is incorrect. The proof so far should at least confirm this much and it's way better then the wiki being completely wrong on the subject even if it doesn't specify the exact date it were removed. :: Also I found this on the steam community https://steamcommunity.com/app/440/discussions/0/1483235412195132320/ Discussing this in 2017 related to the case global effect thing which I showed you proof of them talking about adding in jungle inferno update. not sure if you consider that as proof? ::: Hi, the change was made to Template:Gun Mettle Update Unusual effects hours ago. Unfortunately, loose wording like "taken out of future unusual pools during tough break & sometime after 2017 removed completely" isn't going to cut it for a wiki. The "proof" that was sent in doesn't apply to this situation. You're going to need to find proof showing EXACTLY when the effect was removed from the Gun Mettle pool. Something vague like your video or forum posts made days after an update aren't going to work, unfortunately. Thanks. ~ Boba 04:05, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I planned to investigate this today. The crashing mixed with CPU issues I was having at the time made me unable to look into it until now. SFM has a lot of misc. compatibility issues with live TF2 particles. ~ Boba 20:25, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

SFM does not use the same version of the particle engine as TF2.
