"Strategy pages contain advice instead of neutral statements about gameplay, so writing "you," giving commands, being accurate and being brief are preferred to encyclopedic language. Whenever applicable, the scope of a strategy should be specified. In some cases, this will require phrases that are normally weasel words, such as "probably" and "on occasion."

Anyway, you know I'm already going through and revising those pages. So with the aid of the style guide, I'm against not using "you" to address the reader. Thoughts? == Editing with a VPN ==

:The thing is, "you" is fine if used occasionally, but it sounds unprofessional when it's applied a few hundred times in an article (which it is on the community strategy pages). I would much prefer that it be used as little as possible, and if it can be avoided then all the better. --LordKelvin 02:36, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi LordKelvin,
 +
I have found a loophole to do with account security and IP addresses. While this is not allowed in Wikipedia.org, the TF Wiki permits you to create an account and edit pages while using a VPN. By allowing this to occur, it compromises the integrity and security of this website; as such, I am wondering whether it would be possible to block the use of VPNs for editing and making accounts on this website.

Cheers,

:: My main concern as of now is the basic strategy pages, which you marked for cleanup. It sounds really awkward to say "A Pyro should do this" instead of "You should do this (as a Pyro)." I have the feeling that you've probably talked to Zoolooman about this before, but he's the one that convinced me to the "you" side, especially because it flows better. -- InShane 02:44, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Amza. Similar to below, I'm a new editor here. I was proofreading a page and fixed a small error and tried to save, but apparently I'm blocked from editing TOO because the person named "pootispootispootis" was using my IP address. However, my edit wasn't deleted, it didn't go through in the first place due to the block. The ban expires tomorrow apparently; and like Spicus, I'm not mad, but I would like this issue resolved. ::: Due to their relative length, I wouldn't be against using "you"s on the basic strategy pages, it's just that it starts to grate in the match-ups and community strategy sections. Since you're the one who's keeping an eye on those sections though, I'd say feel free to edit them however you see fit. --LordKelvin 02:50, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

I'm new to editing wiki's (literally joined just to add a cool fact I found out about the Lugermorph) and not only did my edit get deleted with a snarky "reason" by a different user. But it says you blocked my IP because it was being used by some user I've never heard of "pootispootispootis" putting "nonsense/gibberish. And on top of that, the block says it started over an hour in the future! IDK if it's just because I'm new but I don't understand why any of this happened. I'm less mad and just more confused, please allow me an explanation. Thanks,  Spicus (talk) 06:15, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

::::Ah, cripes, I also meant class match-ups. Those pages, as of my edits, contain general tips for class-to-class fighting, sorta like "basic class match-ups." Actually, that reminds me of an idea - Basic Match-up pages, and Community Match-up pages, like the ones you're creating on the Community Strategy Pages. -- InShane 02:48, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Apparently everybody is having this issue. i believe Tark fixed it, not sure. anyway, the IP that was blocked is  a IP used when the website cannot find your ip correctly again, not sure about that either. ::::: Well then, feel free to remove the cleanup tags and edit them as you see fit. And as for the community match-ups pages, that's what I'm actually working on, I just want to try to actually create one of each section for each class before proposing it to a mod. --LordKelvin 02:50, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

I noticed alot of hats have the wrong, or not all the qualities they could have, like the [Snowmann|Snowmann] says it's Unique and strange when it can be unusual too. How do I change this, is it even posssible? It appears to be on a page-per-page basis.
