I was actually wondering why that guy removed so much from the Hottie's Hoodie page. Right as I was about to re-add it, you fixed it. Just figured I'd letcha know that that didn't go unnoticed. :) ShadowGlove 12:29, 6 July 2011 (PDT)

You asked me to let a moderator know if this nonsense happened again, and it happened again. This and this done by Sven2. I had hopped onto the Wiki earlier today and checked out my watchlist to find those 2 bits of vandalism. I also noticed the message "AGNMI 4 LYFE!!!", so I googled "AGNMI" and found this group. Guess who's an admin in the group? You guessed it.. I also found the AGNMI forums and noticed a section of the forum dedicated to discussing the HL2 leak, which is what Sven mentioned a few times in his rants on the TF2 Alpha article's talk page.

Do you even know the things that my Ass has done?  I must declare that he is the most noble Ass in all of Europe!  It has helped write laws, it has put out fires, it has saved puppies and small children from trees, and many more acts of Gentlemannly nature!  And yet, you insult my Ass' stories by saying it is "amusing".  You are lucky that my Ass is a Gentlemann, because if it was MY choice, I would throw you in the brig for life for insulting my Ass!  Good day, sir! == We got some counter-productive page labellin' goin' on here! ==

When I run automate.py, a few questionable things happen:
 +
* It asks me to overwrite regardless of the inputted name
 +
* It closes HLMV at the beginning of execution
 +
* It throws an error: "No such file or directory: targetimages\\openhlmv.png"

All them TFC Deathmatch map pages have been sittin' around, doin' just fine. Then, just like what happened with my article for Team Fortress 2 Alpha, we got people makin' a fuss over the map articles! Take a look here, boss!. K-Mac has already reverted his labelling once, and I've just reverted it again. It's purely counter-productive, and SiPlus' reasons for labelling them for deletion are:
+
:It only asks you to overwrite if the destination directory for the images already exists. It closes HLMV at the beginning because it needs to set the rotation for the first screenshot, this is normal. And now I've just realized you should be using automatebeta.py which doesn't use target images anymore. I need to get round to cleaning up the files for this. == Detonator ==

Hello, I'm sorry to bother you, but I need an Admin's attention. The user MEDUNN has repeatedly added a trivia fact to the Detonator page.  The trivia fact is about it's similiarity to the name given to the Demoman class in the bootleg game Gang Garrison 2, which is not proven to be related, and as I understand it, that means it is not trivia. Yet they continue to put it in, udoing my undo to remove it. I do not feel they are related by anything more than coincidence, and as such, is not trivia, as I have seen nothing to prove that the weapon was named after the class in Gang Garrison 2. If there is, I will back off and let it be added, but again, I haven't seen it, and as such don't feel it is trivia.

Thank you for your time.

You created skeleton pages for a lot of the new items in the Love and War update. Thanks for doing this, although you seem to have set the patch date on those pages to June 19. The update was released on June 18. Since there was a patch today too, it's important those dates are changed on all the new item pages so people don't get confused between the two patches. --Piemanmoo 18:03, 19 June 2014 (PDT)

Hey there Mousse.
:Well this is an interesting one, because from what I have observed is that the drop cap resets for everyone at the same time. This made sense to me because I don't think Valve has separate item servers seeing as latency doesn't matter for backpack related stuff. But back to the point, I have confirmed it with American users and far east users and it seems to be the same time for us all. I have heard of a few players saying they start receiving drops at a later time but I put this down to bad connections or a flakey item server. I myself sometimes don't receive items for several hours on my idle accounts when the cap has reset. A reply from Robin would be brilliant to clear this up. == Listing price of hats on their respective pages ==
+
I have a page here which has some small but useful information for the 3D model viewer recompile process.

Hello, I am a new joiner to this wiki and I wanted to suggest adding a feature to the pages of all the hats. A pricing feature. Online, there are many pages that can be found where a collection of market prices on hats and miscellaneous items can be found. This could be a valuable feature to those playing on trade servers in Team Fortress 2. I would have implemented this myself, but I wanted to ask an administrator before a change like this is put into place. I hope you will consider my proposal. My name is Celestial Tactician. Celestial Tactician 13:58, 3 September 2011 (PDT)
+
Just want to run it by you and check if this information could be helpful in any way.
:Hey there. Welcome to the wiki :) your idea has suggested a few times before but the reason we don't implement this is because hat values are subjective and the wiki is here to document facts. Not to mention that if we were to include this information it would be easily abusable, as we could effectively set the value of hats and 'game' the trading market. Hope that helps. Also in future please make use of the show preview button as I get an email for every edit you do to my talk page :-( <span style="font-family:Georgia;font-size:83%;">—<span style="color:black">Moussekateer</span>·<span style="color:black;font-size:82%;">talk</span></span>

:: Hello again, I don't mean to offensive in any way at all, but the fact that anyone can edit your pages means that the "facts" cannot be 100% validated anyway. Is it possible to arrange strict monitoring of these prices to ensure that no one changes the prices for their own purposes? After all, the prices of tf2 items, similarly to stocks, is based off of mass opinions and rumors such as how many people have sentimental value to the item or like the look of it. Not on hard facts. Celestial Tactician 14:16, 3 September 2011 (PDT)

:::While in the short term the wiki may have incorrect information, over the long term the fallacies will be removed by the community. Incorrect information is usually removed pretty quickly. I understand that items have perceived value in the trading community, that's all they are, perceived values. One mans trash is another's treasure. The wiki is not here to document trading values, other sites cover that pretty well. some examples of this in work are:

Well, I was thinking about my very first wiki idea. I do really want to make a page for every single paint. This is useful and comfortable. I meet people everyday, who find\uncrate paints and want to color something.
+
Equalizer

But they can't just open a page for paint to see all hats available. They should open Class, find a hat they have, and a color. And then move to the next class. This is really uncomfortable + great downloading traffic. I won't ask any help and do everything by myself. Just accept my idea, and I will begin.

::That's what I said - there are so many hats and so many paints, that people paint ALL hats. I've already described a situation. If I have at least 1 hat per class I should watch through 900 color and hats combinations, searching for items that I already have! I am more experienced now and can make hidden boxes. User will just open a paint and a class. Find a hat in color that I have VS watching through gigantic list. This is my point. On the Scout page I have to look through 578 hats (34 paint variants x 17 hats with styles) to look at 1 colored hat. Wat? It's not a trading image. It's gifting, it's clearly gifting in the store. Just because it's more interesting overrules the fact that it has nothing to do with the article? Hi,I'm Greek Spy.I'm a user in the wiki and I have also helped with some stud articles but I would like to ask a question....Is the tf2 wiki gonna have any new languages added to it.I have seen that many languages are been supported right now by the wiki and I wonder if I could help in the translation of the articles in Greek. Many gamers here in greece play tf2 but don't use the wiki due ti being in a different language they dont really know.So this also the opportunity for other Greek Tf2 wiki users to help in expanding the wiki.I hope you take that in mind and give me an answer.

So if you can gather enough greek players and convince valve to add greek language support to TF2, then we can add it here. But until then, we can't really add new languages :( Ashes (talk) 13:43, 9 August 2014 (PDT)

I was translating the Rogue's Col Roule into Dutch earlier today, and like so often, I ran into this bit in the update history, concerning the item schema: "Accessed July 12, 2011." I have encountered them before and I usually keep them out of translations, but I have gotten rather curious as to the exact function of these little tidbits. Are they merely there for administrative purposes, or do they bring an actual value to the reader? Because if this is of actual value to the reader (a value that I do not see at the moment), it means I'll have to go back and add these to the other translated articles, but if they are merely for administrative purposes for the Wiki editors, I see no real reason to add them to translations if they are on the English page anyway. Any clarification on this matter is much appreciated.<br>

Hey Moussekateer, I've got a question. Would it be possible for you/a bot to add whether or not an item is craftable to the infobox (similar to the equip region script you've got)? As far as I'm aware, the craft_class line in the schema (which is in the no_craft prefab for a lot of items that have it, if you get your info from that part of the schema) determines whether or not an item can be received from crafting or not. If it just has "" or doesn't have the line at all, then it can't be crafted. On the other hand, if it has "hat", then it can potentially be received from any recipes that would give you a cosmetic.

It just doesn't seem right in 1 area... MarbalTm4 13:02, 12 September 2011 (PDT)
+
The only other things I can see in there are supply_crate, tool, weapon, craft_bar, and craft_token. Tools and crates can't be crafted, so there are no issues with those. craft_bar and craft_token are used for the metals and for the tokens, so they (mostly) wouldn't be an issue as most of them only come from their respective recipes. The problem item with it would be the Haunted Scrap Metal, as that's marked as being a craft_bar, even though it can only be received from an achievement. The odd one is weapon, seeing as it includes all of the stock weapons (and assumedly their Botkiller/Festive/Australium reskins), along with the Ap-Sap, which can't be crafted due to not having a matching token I believe. There'd have to be exceptions for those obviously, but hopefully that wouldn't be too hard.

Oh, and sorry if this messes up anything on your talk page. I just wanted to ask you a question if i could add an edit.
+
The only issue with this is what the infobox currently says for the craftable parameter. Either there would need to be a new parameter added to cover this, or the existing "craftable" parameter would need to be changed so that it says the item can be received from crafting, rather than being usable in crafting. I think the second option could be better for this, seeing as the existing parameter is pretty rarely used in the first place.

:You don't need to ask anyone's permission to make an edit, go ahead. <span style="font-family:Georgia;font-size:83%;">—<span style="color:black">Moussekateer</span>·<span style="color:black;font-size:82%;">talk</span></span> 13:05, 12 September 2011 (PDT)
+
This sort of thing would hopefully stop issues of people removing craft numbers in the infobox for items that aren't craftable, seeing as Valve seem to have craft numbers be a default setting for almost all cosmetics, apart from tournament medals and a few other ones I think. It could also make it easier to keep these templates up to date, especially if the parameter was changed to put items that can't be received from crafting into a category. --Omolong (talk) 19:30, 29 September 2014 (PDT)

Hi there. I'm making a new Wiki project that has to do with defining game difficulty using a set of metrics. It's hosted at http://game-difficulty.wikia.com/wiki/, where I hope it will be manageable for many users. I've already gotten some advice, but not from people with a ton of experience with Wikia. Of course you've been on the TF2 Wiki for a long-ass time, so I do want some advice from you.
:There's a few reasons to use internal links when possible, but mainly because it's much neater and cooler. There are other factors such as MediaWiki knowing which pages link to which (which comes in useful), and red links etc when you use internal style links. Basically you should always use an internal link if you link to anywhere in the wiki and an external link for external sites. == Gunboats: THREE-DEE EDITION ==
+
The Wiki is still in a very early state of development, where almost all of the metrics have yet to be formulated into pages. It's not a scientific wiki, but it's one that I'm trying to make interesting. It's something that nobody has ever done before with much ambition, so I hope that I can crate something interesting.

Hey Mousse, after doing the Mantreads yesterday it wasn't too much hassle to edit part of the soldier's vtf & vmt to make everything other than the boots invisible and take a new set of images for the Gunboats, but after doing so I realised that technically the gunboats model is really just the two metal bits attached to the default boots. You can see the result here, but before I added the values and requested a move etc I thought I should check first if having the boots in the 3D image was okay? I had a look through the list briefly and couldn't really find a precedent for this sort of thing, visually the gunboats are bolted in and attached to the boots so I thought it would make sense to include them in the picture as the boots really seem visually like part of the gunboats model. So yeah, just wanted your opinion on this first, it'll be no problem to retake them with nothing but the metal bits if that's what's wanted, just let me know. -Mr. Magoolachub 00:56, 25 September 2011 (PDT)

:::Quite a bit, actually! Looks very possible, now. One further concern: I'd like this template to be protected (much like availability is), but strings in it need modifying. That was solved before by using Dictionary/templatecore, but this basically defeated the purpose of making the template protected. At any rate, I'm not too worried about that here, because with scripting, there shouldn't be a large need to change the strings around. The big exception to this is crates, which need to be moved from active to retired. I think the best way of doing this would be to create individual redirects for each crate, which can be edited by users. Thoughts? : First you could have answered on your talk, I was watching it, no need to created new sections and divide the answers. Second I'm not talking about the IRC ban I know nothing of it, but if it's done there's probably a good reason. For the emblem it doesn't look legit at all, the old wiki isn't really a trustworthy source. This symbol isn't in the trailers videos, only place the dynamite is mentioned / seen (the circle is empty), and the previous symbol was a bomb, not a dynamite. So we reverted your edits because it wasn't relevant. If you find a trustworthy proof it existed, we'll add them back in the galleries. For now the files aren't deleted we can still add them back. Normally we had official stuff on this wiki, it can be unreleased but officially in the game files. Unofficially stuff, like rumors can go on another site dedicated to them, namely SUF (or SPUF I don't know how that fuss ended)<span style="font-family:TF2 Build; color:#70B04A ">Tturbo</span> ( / ) 17:57, 12 October 2011 (PDT)

It's a lot of changes, but I'll give you the rundown:
 +
* A lot of refactoring and removing extra files. For the most part, things aren't gone, just integrated inline because they had few uses.
 +
* Threadpool is now replaced with native threads. It's simply more complex than needed.
 +
* I got rid of imgpie, and all its associated files. As far as I can tell, it was for speedups, which was only needed if we were dealing with 3D colored hats. Painted variants alone don't need this, since 36 < 72.
 +
* Transparency was bugged in the old code, since it was doing 255 - 255*(whitePixel - blackPixel). This assumed the pixels were normalized; they were not. Thus, this value was often negative, yielding no transparency. With the fix, it works fine for items like Jarate, etc. I've redone most, if not all, of those 3D models.
 +
* As far as further improvements go, the best bets I see are:
 +
** Use ram modification to rotate the images. It's a pain, but it'd be a lot faster.
 +
** Find some way to support (via more trig) an incorrect vertical center of rotation. Ideally, you should be able to move the center of rotation arbitrarily on the model.
 +
** Removing NumPy won't speed up the code, but it will reduce the number of dependencies. At the moment, it's only used to crop images, which is happening in the background anyways.
 +
I've also taken the liberty of updating the tutorial somewhat, and creating a python 2.7 package. If you'd like these cleaned up in any way, or if you want to merge in the new code, go ahead.

Change Email special page is gone!
I stumbled upon a PSD file containing all the RED/BLU class badges (though it does have the old "Bomb" emblem for the Demo, and the chunkier Sniper emblem). Apparently, the file was sent to someone by Robin Walker, and it only contained the RED emblems, so the person who received the file created the BLU versions himself using the BLU palette.
+
Hey there. I tried to change my email but I found the special page is completely gone! I let some people know in IRC but no one seemed awake. I didn't know what else to do so I decided to leave a message on your talk page since you'll get a notification about it. Thanks! However, while examining them all, I had them all visible and noticed that they were all off-centered by a couple of pixels. I've just now centered them all, and also found that when Valve made the RED badges, they used a "drop shadow" effect and a faint gradient overlay.
+
Update the tf_<language>.txt files pls
I have just saved the drop shadow/gradient overlay setup as a style and have applied it to the BLU team emblems. I figured I should let you know ahead of time that I will be saving new versions of every class badge and uploading them as new versions of the existing files. As well, because this pack that I found lacks the Demoman's Stickybomb/Dynamite emblems, and the current Sniper emblem, I'm going to have to pop the ones that we have on the Wiki currently into Photoshop and give it the proper filters and centering.
+
Like said in the title could you push an update for the tf_<languages>.txt files? (f.e.https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/File:Tf_german.txt ) I normally use them from here cause to find them myself is a mess (a bit). But yeah, I found it odd how you didn't re-add the BLU Dynamite emblem because it was made by me, but yet the BLU team class badges we have on the Wiki weren't made by Valve, but by another person. Here's where I found the pack. It was on Facepunch, and the post in question is from early 2010. == Spam ==

:Done. Oh, and I re-added the BLU "Dynamite" emblems back to the Demoman pages. In my defense, as I found out in that Facepunch thread, our BLU emblems were not created by Valve (Don't believe me? Look at this. Notice the red pixels at the tips of the flames?). Therefore, seeing as we already use images that weren't made by Valve, but by a Facepunch user, logic dictates that my created emblems shall stay on the pages. Using automate.py

When I run automate.py, a few questionable things happen:

  • It asks me to overwrite regardless of the inputted name
  • It closes HLMV at the beginning of execution
  • It throws an error: "No such file or directory: targetimages\\openhlmv.png"

Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 07:30, 24 January 2014 (PST)

It only asks you to overwrite if the destination directory for the images already exists. It closes HLMV at the beginning because it needs to set the rotation for the first screenshot, this is normal. And now I've just realized you should be using automatebeta.py which doesn't use target images anymore. I need to get round to cleaning up the files for this. 3D images

You need to be using the appropriate python script, which stiches at the end. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 22:00, 22 February 2014 (PST)
Hm... What should I do with this script? Max 324 (talk) 00:24, 23 February 2014 (PST)
Run it with python. See the 'documentation' here. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 12:06, 23 February 2014 (PST)
Thanks for help, but I think I use another method. I will try to ask on the page about 3d models. Max 324 (talk) 19:51, 23 February 2014 (PST)
What is the method you used? Because the 3D models are set up in a very specific way, that would be near impossible to do without the script. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 19:59, 23 February 2014 (PST)
In TFMV I set the specific starting position and each time changed the position of the camera (it changes every 15 degrees). Example here Max 324 (talk) 19:42, 24 February 2014 (PST)
You must have a lot of patience then. But it would be a lot better for you to use the scripts. Your images don't have transparency, which makes batch cropping and stitching very difficult. If you look at an example finished image you can see what the final 3d image looks like when done properly. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 20:06, 24 February 2014 (PST)
No transparency because it was not finished yet. And my workpiece can be united as your example? Max 324 (talk) 20:13, 24 February 2014 (PST)
Yes you can, but the script works by using two copies of every image, one with a black background and one with a white background. But again, the whole process is much much much easier if you use the script to generate the images. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 20:30, 24 February 2014 (PST)
And the last question:how to adjust the display position 3d image on the wiki? I saw that the parameter Maps different in different images Max 324 (talk) 19:29, 25 February 2014 (PST)
The script outputs the map into a text file once the stitching is done. User Zabidenu sig.png (contribstalk) 19:31, 25 February 2014 (PST)

Error uploading audio files

For some reason, I'm still unable to upload certain files.

If you recall my last post from Halloween, I was unable to upload

Sf13_mannbros_argue21.wav because it was too large (2.18MB) and Sf13_blutarch_win06.wav because of the MIME error.

This time around, I'm getting the same problem for Scout_taunt_nun_81.wav and Spy_taunt_dosi_end_11.wav due to

Cannot upload due to Files of the MIME type "application/x-php" are not allowed to be uploaded.

I still encounter the error even after a fresh re-extraction of the files through GCFScape. They play fine on my end.

There's also a strange audio file called mtt_medic_punchnslaps.wav which is 2.19MB and the uploader still won't accept it because it is larger than 2.00MB.

User Upgrade Signature.png 21:15, 20 June 2014 (PDT)

Unfortunately we don't have the ability to change the max file upload size ourselves. As for your other issue, I'm not sure why the server would be detecting the filetype incorrectly. It may be that the file was generated incorrectly and MW's guess at what filetype it is is tripping up for some reason. I'll have a try myself. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 05:22, 21 June 2014 (PDT)
It seems like every Halloween there's trouble uploading audio files. On time of getting error messages regarding the MIME type not being accepted, now I'm getting "413 Request Entity Too Large". It seems like I can't upload anything larger than 1MB whereas last year it was 2MB.
I'm not sure what to do and a quarter of the lines on Halloween Boss voice responses page are in red. User Upgrade Signature.png 11:28, 2 November 2014 (PST)
I'll look into it, but we haven't lowered the size limits at all so I'm not sure what's going on. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 18:15, 2 November 2014 (PST)

New languages translations.

Thank you,Greek Spy. GreekSpy (talk) 13:31, 9 August 2014 (PDT)

talk page stalker Heyo, WindPower already gave an answer to a question similar to this before. The wiki only adds languages if it is supported by Valve for TF2. So if you can gather enough greek players and convince valve to add greek language support to TF2, then we can add it here. But until then, we can't really add new languages :( Ashes (talk) 13:43, 9 August 2014 (PDT)
(talk page stalker) Addendum: We support arabic and danish despite them having no official support. If you can get 10+ editors who are all willing to make consistent translations, then the wiki can support the language. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 14:01, 9 August 2014 (PDT)

Receivable from crafting in infobox

Hey Moussekateer, I've got a question. Would it be possible for you/a bot to add whether or not an item is craftable to the infobox (similar to the equip region script you've got)? As far as I'm aware, the craft_class line in the schema (which is in the no_craft prefab for a lot of items that have it, if you get your info from that part of the schema) determines whether or not an item can be received from crafting or not. If it just has "" or doesn't have the line at all, then it can't be crafted. On the other hand, if it has "hat", then it can potentially be received from any recipes that would give you a cosmetic.

Itemcount

I'd like to change this template into a lua module. This should help it keep up-to-date better, since nobody likes updating it. The simplest way seems to be to extract key information from relevant pages, but I'm not quite sure how to do that. Could help me by creating a skeleton module or something similar that I could work off of? Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 05:50, 31 October 2014 (PDT)

You could use the mw.site.stats.pagesInCategory function in lua but A) You'll have to subtract a certain number to get the true count and B) It's an expensive function. Not sure if you could do the same thing with the other counts. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 13:02, 31 October 2014 (PDT)
Which count are you thinking of? Also, I was under the impression lua could pull template parameters, is this not right? Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 15:47, 31 October 2014 (PDT)
Like the number of stranges/number of unusuals/etc. I'm not sure what it is you want to do exactly. I thought you wanted this to automatically count the number of items? If so how would you work out how many items there are? User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 16:18, 31 October 2014 (PDT)
I was confused by your "not sure if you could do the same thing with the other counts" since you didn't specify a count to take the 'others' of. The majority are not in categories, but are in things like Wqc/Cqc, or floating in multiple tables (stranges). Paint variants are detectable, styles are mostly detectable. Some of the info can be pulled from the schema, but that's not quite what I was going for. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 16:21, 31 October 2014 (PDT)
If you can't count them simply via category count or something similar then it's going to be very difficult to write code that can generate that info. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 16:23, 31 October 2014 (PDT)
Let's see...
Cosmetics -- Category:Cosmetic items
Qualities (Vintage, Genuine, Strange, Unusual) -- Could write an extension to the Quality list in the infobox to place in quality categories.
Styles -- No idea. This information is on the Styles page.
Paintable -- No idea. This information is technically in Unpaintable items list, but I doubt it's very up-to-date.
Painted variants -- I can get this information manually from the Paint Can page, but I'd rather not hard-code things.
Where might I get the missing few numbers/can I process pages directly? Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 16:29, 31 October 2014 (PDT)
Not sure about styles. Paintable you can use Category:Paintable items, and painted variants I suppose you'll just have to math. It may be a lot of work (and an expensive module) to write just to keep the list up to date automatically but you can science. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 18:14, 2 November 2014 (PST)
Just a small thing here, there is Category:Items with styles for styles. It has to be manually put onto item pages, but I'm pretty sure that it should contain all items that have styles. --Omolong (talk) 18:32, 2 November 2014 (PST)
Categories include all languages -.- so I need a way to process all elements in a category. I'm poking around for useful Lua modules, but I don't really know where to look. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 21:10, 2 November 2014 (PST)
They shouldn't afaik? They contain lang subcategories indeed but there may be a way to get back the category members without subcategories. This page should help you. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 21:19, 2 November 2014 (PST)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Of course. Whoops. Anyways, if we're just using templates, why not just use ? Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 21:25, 2 November 2014 (PST)

Yes, you could use that too. If getting the counts is straightforward then you could just go down the template route, but anything slightly more complicated and it'd be better as a module. I can't think of the top of my head now what a roadblock could be but there probably will be one :3 User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 21:33, 2 November 2014 (PST)
Well if there's no benefit to using the module beyond simple math, then I don't see a need to use it. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 21:34, 2 November 2014 (PST)

I seeketh guidence.

what. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 04:20, 2 January 2015 (PST)
Okay, good you responded. You see, many cosmetic pages have incorrect grammar. Someone tried changing it on one page an another user (who I leave unnamed for reasons) because it dosent match with the other page... A good idea would be to fix the grammar on all the page. I want to fix them but I fear of them getting undone. What should I do? (P.S. I would like to be banned from getting the Wiki Cap on my own accord. Can you do that?) ScottishDrunkard (talk) 04:36, 2 January 2015 (PST)
Okay, me again. Ignore everything I said as it was a mistake of grammar. Ignore everything. (Exept my request for getting banned from ever acheiving a Wiki Cap. I have reasons) ScottishDrunkard (talk) 10:32, 2 January 2015 (PST)

Request for advice on new project

The Wiki is still in a very early state of development, where almost all of the metrics have yet to be formulated into pages. It's not a scientific wiki, but it's one that I'm trying to make interesting. It's something that nobody has ever done before with much ambition, so I hope that I can crate something interesting.

If you have the time and the energy to do so, I would like to chat. I don't expect you to hop on board and start smacking pages around, but I do want a perspective on how the whole Wiki thing comes together. I have Skype and Steam (http://steamcommunity.com/id/internet-wastelander/) as my main comms - my history with e-mail is tragic.

Thanks for reading this,

Samuel Enthers 19:03, 7 January 2015 (PST)

Looks interesting. I'd love to contribute (as I do) in the form of technical backend, though the project looks coneceptually solid as well. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 20:04, 7 January 2015 (PST)

Facial Flex and sequence frame on 3D Image program?

Hi Moussekateer, I was wondering where can I configure the facial flex and the frames on the 3D image program. The classes page shows the frame and facial flex in some of the classes, but I have no idea where to put. Thanks. Unfortunately you have to set screenshotPause to true in the script and set up the model between every screenshot manually for those. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 18:37, 22 April 2015 (PDT)

"Moon status" (Template:If full moon) not properly indicating

Per our IRC, "Moon status" (Template:If full moon) is not properly indicating the present Full Moon in the Main Page, neither in the Full moon page. I only noticed since this is the first complete Full Moon since I made use of (Template:If full moon) on my home page and on three User boxes I made last full moon. I did try the purge on all of those pages and tried Chrome, Firefox, and IE. Mikado282 (talk) 19:49, 2 May 2015 (PDT)

I may have fixed it. There was not enough precision in the calculation. No wonder TF2 Wiki Full Moon has seemed to start sooner that the real full moon, in and out of game. The template is giving the correct number, but hasn't worked its way through the wiki yet. Mikado282 (talk) 05:40, 1 June 2015 (PDT)
Not quite fixed. Showing correct phase now on Full Moon, but wrong days (two days early), problem may be in the magic numbers in Template:Fmc. See also Template talk:Fmp Mikado282 (talk) 07:16, 1 June 2015 (PDT)

Broken external links

I found the broken external links Wiki Report by FreeXMan's FreemBOT a while ago but since he and his bot are no longer here I decided to implement this feature to my BOTzement (list can be found here). Just now I saw that on the Team Fortress Wiki:Reports page there is another link to broken external links; yours. This has not been updated in a while either, but since you are obviously still here (as opposed to FreeXMan) I wanted to ask what the status on your page/bot is. It's not necessary to have two bot doing the same stuff so if this is still one of your tasks I will disable this task for my bot. Otherwise I will update the link on the wiki report page. More modules!

I'm creating Module:Availability to replace avail for two reasons:

  1. First and foremost, there's nbsp tags in there which cause problems with the 'buy now' link on some pages: [2]
  2. Second, Template:Dictionary/templatecore is not a very good name and is slowly growing in an unsettling manner. Besides, much of it could be simplified greatly.

Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 12:17, 3 March 2016 (PST)

Hmm, so I can't expand wiki templates, which means that this is probably not easily possible, since the translation strings should stay in the dictionary. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 14:39, 3 March 2016 (PST)
frame:expandTemplate might help? User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 14:42, 3 March 2016 (PST)
Quite a bit, actually! Thoughts? Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 14:01, 4 March 2016 (PST)
All set! Please take a look at Module:Availability/doc and verify that it matches Template:Availability/doc. Please protect the module page, and ideally apply low-level protection to Module:Availability/crate, so that users can edit it without moderator/admin assistance. Please also protect Template:Avail. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 19:02, 8 March 2016 (PST)
Done, thanks. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 06:24, 29 March 2016 (PDT)

Hello, could you add the extensions Flow and RelatedArticles ? Thanks CreativeC (talk) 12:03, 23 April 2016 (PDT)

Those are pretty nice looking extensions, especially Flow. We can't install them at the moment due to some load issues with the wiki, but we will evaluate them in the future for sure. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 15:26, 23 April 2016 (PDT)

Username change.

Hello, could you change my username or ask someone with that ability to do so? Gnój in Polish means "animal poo with straws from barns, which is used to fertilize ground" or you can call a person "Gnój" for being unfair, annoying ect. It is kidna embarrasing as Im now a grown man. I would like to have it changed to Josphirat. Thanks. Josphirat (talk) 14:28, 1 May 2016 (PDT)

Who's that import?

import imgpie
black = imgpie.wrap(self.blackImages[colour])
white = imgpie.wrap(self.whiteImages[colour])

Is this part of cython? NumPy? What does imgpie.wrap() actually do? Darkid « TalkContribs » 12:42, 5 May 2016 (PDT)

Only WindPower knows, apparently. Time to go ask! Darkid « TalkContribs » 13:29, 5 May 2016 (PDT)

Updated the 3d models script

It's a lot of changes, but I'll give you the rundown:

  • A lot of refactoring and removing extra files. For the most part, things aren't gone, just integrated inline because they had few uses.
  • Threadpool is now replaced with native threads. It's simply more complex than needed.
  • I got rid of imgpie, and all its associated files. As far as I can tell, it was for speedups, which was only needed if we were dealing with 3D colored hats. Painted variants alone don't need this, since 36 < 72.
  • Transparency was bugged in the old code, since it was doing 255 - 255*(whitePixel - blackPixel). This assumed the pixels were normalized; they were not. Thus, this value was often negative, yielding no transparency. With the fix, it works fine for items like Jarate, etc. I've redone most, if not all, of those 3D models.
  • As far as further improvements go, the best bets I see are:
    • Use ram modification to rotate the images. It's a pain, but it'd be a lot faster.
    • Find some way to support (via more trig) an incorrect vertical center of rotation. Ideally, you should be able to move the center of rotation arbitrarily on the model.
    • Removing NumPy won't speed up the code, but it will reduce the number of dependencies. At the moment, it's only used to crop images, which is happening in the background anyways.

I've also taken the liberty of updating the tutorial somewhat, and creating a python 2.7 package. If you'd like these cleaned up in any way, or if you want to merge in the new code, go ahead. Darkid « TalkContribs » 00:04, 11 May 2016 (PDT)

Spam

So I was trying to write me description but then it suddenly classifies as spam?

So here’s what I’m trying to write:

“Hello!

“It’s very nice to meet you all!” “So first my steam link is https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198982670436/ (Feel free to add me!)”

“Introduction” “I’m a Chinese male currently living in Australia Since I came to Australia when I was 2 I don’t know that much Chinese”

“TF2 is a timeless masterpiece”

Hope you can solve this problem cause I’ve just made a edit and I really want people to really know me. (Or it’s because I want the Wiki Cap) Thanks and have a nice day!
