Hi

"This user is German, Dummkopfs!" steh?
Fixes
{ TidB | t | c | wt } 08:17, 7 December 2014 (PST)
Nachbessern in Artikel...

— shots fired by: Nikno {Talk|Contribs} 14:20, 21 March 2016 (PDT)

Do you still need help with Gimp? ▪ - 11:28, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- Oh god, you returned, I can't believe it, yes I do! I heard you don't add people on Steam if they're not close friends. Is there any other easy way to chat with you? — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk|Contribs} 11:41, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- Yes, but I'll remove you some day after we're done with the tutorial and such. Well, what kind of stuff you need help? Because it seems you're doing pretty well already. ▪ - 16:46, 7 April 2016 (PDT)
- I've got some questions about Gimp (to understand what I'm doing) and especially about some special cases in hlmv. For example how to show the eye glow of the demoman when he has collected 4 heads or why items like Cotton Head have 2 vmts and which one to edit for painted variants. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk|Contribs} 00:24, 8 April 2016 (PDT)
- Well, HLMV doesn't support particle effects, so it's impossible to actually show the Demoman's eye effect via this program, nor any other particle effect (like Unusuals). For stand-alone particle effects, add the command parameter at TF2's launch option: "-tools". TF2 will open with a material, particle and node editor. For the Unusual pictures, people use SFM, but I don't know how to use it, so. For painted hats, I recommend you download TFMV, it's a program that make it easier to paint hats, and there's even an auto-screenshot tool released in the most recent version for this situation! The program also lets you choose which one of the .vmts. I think the .vmts are different between classes, so I recommend checking on the Mann Co. Store to see how it looks depending on the classes (e.g.: Medic, Pyro and Spy has as different colors than the rest). The first style only paints the stripe of the hat and the second paints the whole thing, the same applies to the Medic, Pyro and Spy models. I recommend you do the pictures with the Scout model as a base and use it on the paint variant galleries, and put the other models on the infobox like the Brotherhood of Arms. There's no support yet to call multiple classes to one skin, but I'll see if I can do something. ▪ - 06:01, 8 April 2016 (PDT)
- Okay thanks, I didn't know that hlmv doesn't display particle effects. I'll use the hwm models from now on, should I use them always or just for specific cases? Do they have any downsides? I downloaded TFMV, thanks for the tip, makes things alot easier. But with Cotton Head (style 2 only) that didn't help me much. There are 2 materials, one is <item name>.vmt, the other is <item name>_1.vmt. Either by manually painting it or by painting it with TFMV I get the following outputs: black and white, does the hat really look like that when painted? — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk|Contribs} 03:43, 9 April 2016 (PDT)
- Always use HWM models, there are very rare exceptions on not to use it. That's weird, actually. And no, the hat styles are to paint the whole hat, and the other is to paint just the stripe, but the color aren't that strong in-game. I'll take a look at TFMV's later, I need to set-up it again. Maybe you can try removing the $color2 line from the .vmt to see what it happens, or copy and paste the values from $colortint_base to $color2 parameters. ▪ - 10:27, 9 April 2016 (PDT)

Painted variants question
Hi Nikno! I want to make painted variants pics and this is my first try: [1]. My question: Is this any good? The edges seem pretty rough and jagged, unfortunately :/ I followed the instructions from Template:Painted_variants/Tutorial and Help:Model Viewer (activated AA in the nvidia control panel for HLMV as well). Then I took screenshots and removed the background using this method.
I'm not even sure if the screenshots themselves are good enough or if the pixelated edges come from the background removal. Help would be much appreciated! Hagbard Celine (T · C) 02:21, 18 May 2016 (PDT)
- The material edges (depsite the background borders) look ok. I don't have an image of mine to compare right now, but the AA could be improved I guess (Did u try the enforce AA option in tfmv?). The borders indeed look a bit rough. You might want to try certain methods to smooth them, I'm sure you find something on google. For Ps there should definitely be a feature to feather edges and a paths feature. Gabrielwoj described here how he does it with gimp, I use that, too. Generally I'd say that images looks good, I guess it could be improved a bit. You see the background edges better if you upload a sandbox image to the wiki. — shots fired by: Nikno{Talk|Contribs} 06:18, 18 May 2016 (PDT)

HLMV question
Hey, how did you say I could make my images more smoother? -- Dr. Scaphandre 22:06, 26 May 2016 (PDT)
- Hey! There are lots of ways to smoothen your images, also depending on what program you use. I think you're using Gimp, so one way is how Woj did it before he left: User talk:Gabrielwoj#Question., that's a good and easy way to prevent anti-aliased edges. Hello
I just wanted to ask you why my changes were reverted. I went into TF2, made a server, spawned some bots, and looked at how much damage I do normally, and when the enemy is on fire. I might have done something wrong (probably), so yeah. If you could reply that would be great — TheStrplum213 (talk) 06:04, 4 September 2016 (PDT)
- Hey, well the values you added were wrong since they represent the Fire Axe. Maybe you forgot to equip the Axtinguisher when testing. I just tested it in-game to verify and the present values are totally correct. Hey
Thanks for your advices.
Widzu asked me to add some pictures for halloween spells, next time i will remember to give them the appropriate license. So far i added images for footprints only (made by me :D) i may also add some weapons spells screens since i have lots of items with spells.
I wanted to create that dictionary so it would help to edit Availability of cosmetics that drop from new unlocked crates (noone did it yet), thanks for link to place where i can do it.
So i already edited Module:Availability/Sandbox and added there 'keyless-crate' function, and next i wanted add it to Module:Availability/doc. but i was always getting Script error so i thought there is something missing - Dictionary for unlocked cosmetic crate (i dont know if done translations for other languages correct). I dont know if im doing it right, hope after this it will be possible to add in Basic Information in Availability - Uncloced Cosmetic Crate option. I also cant figure out how to add new quality to items (stranges from new unlocked cosmetics crates)...
Pyotoru (talk) 06:00, 16 October 2016 (PDT)
- Hey, I suggest you leave the changes in the Module: namespace to the staff, if you want I can notice you when we implement that, also this could take some time. Where did you get the translations for the other languages? Item quality is handled in Template:Dictionary/quad. By the way for the next time, you can also answer in your own talk page, I'll also read that. :) — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 06:08, 16 October 2016 (PDT)
- Translations i made by using google translate + looking how unlocked creepy crate was translated and unlocked cosmetic scout crate was translated. If you know any of those languages i would be glad if check if its correct. So i may guarantee that there might be some mistakes since i dont know/speak all those languages. I dont know if there is way to mark them to translation check?
- So i should keep that changes in Module:Availability/Sandbox that i made already or remove them? i wanted also edit that Module:Availability Entries Table by adding Parameter 'keyless-crate' (which i made in Module:Availability/Sandbox) but as i said i everytime get Script Error, should i edit it and leave with that error? Also when tried to edit availability of some cosmetics from Unclocked Crates (to add this Unlocked Cosmetic Crate) i was also getting Script errorPyotoru (talk) 07:15, 16 October 2016 (PDT)
- The German translation was surprisingly correct, but generally, Google Translate is an absolute no-go here, so please better leave everything except pl and en out next time. :)
- I'm not much into this availability technical stuff, please refer to darkid or Ashes or any admin. You might also want to join the IRC where those kind of issues can be cleared out faster. Note that most staff members live in the US, so about 5-7h time difference to Europe. I'm always on the IRC when I'm online, sadly need to go now though.— shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 07:22, 16 October 2016 (PDT)
- Tark just added a 'keyless-crate' value, you can see his change here. I'm pretty sure it was a direct implementation of your change. I'm not sure what you were getting script errors about, but you shouldn't save them. If you have any specific questions about lua, you should directly ask me. Shots Fire Back
Do you want me to add the below User Box and actual template (to be put on the User Box page)? twolfe (talk) 12:24, 4 November 2016 (PDT)
- No. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 12:57, 4 November 2016 (PDT)
- Would it be ok if I did? I would have to change the color to be unique from the other one, and I would give credit where credit is due on the template itself. This would allow you to use it without having to copy the code every time. Also, I really, really want to. (smiley face emoticon) twolfe (talk) 13:21, 4 November 2016 (PDT)
User:Twolfe/Template:Why Would You
I don't care about credit or what you do on your user page, but I see your userbox additions critically. You're free to do whatever you want on your user page, but only add boxes on TFW:User info boxes that people might want to use. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 13:34, 4 November 2016 (PDT)
Hey there!
Heya! I really appreciate your advices, i'll use them for my next translations. I just need to figure out something about the dictionary etc... Thank you really much!
Well... i just added the Italian string on the dictionary for the Combustible Cutie (it: La Bellezza Infiammabile) but it doesn't show up. Did i do something wrong? I don't know how to proceed :c

- Hey, you did everything right! Just give our bot a few minutes to push all changes. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 12:27, 17 November 2016 (PST)

Thnx Nikno
Thanks for your support and your advices. I didn't know you can put /es in the links. Also I noticed that in your corretion in the link of the image gallery you wrote /de (deutschland) instead of /es. Is now already corrected. Thanks again. From Vfns (talk) 03:55, 19 November 2016 (PST)
