The intent for Pharah's Hover Jet fuel adjustments is to find a balance where it enables her to maintain an altitude reasonably well with careful fuel and cooldown management, but not so easily climb to the extreme heights some map ceilings allow for as it can lead to less interactive gameplay.
Meteorological phenomenon

Fareeha Amari (فاريها عماري, see the IPA for Arabic), best know as Pharah (and known in TF2 as Soldier), is a patriot, human and security chief from Egypt. Tough and well-armed, she is versatile against players that don't look upward, capable of both winning and losing, and totally not a great starter "class" to get familiar with the game if you don't like to dying constantly.

Well-balanced (unless the enemy has a hitscan) and possessing both survivability (with a pocket Mercy) and mobility, Pharah is considered one of the more situational heroes in Team Fortress 3. Despite his low ground movement speed, she is capable of using her Jump Jets and Hover Jets to reach height quickly. Her "large" health pool is equal as a skinny robot in Team Fortress 3.

Pharah is well known for her extremely and spectacular ability of pressing one button (well, two). In obedience of all good sense and judgment, Pharah can use her Hover Jets to launch herself skyward at the cost of gasoline of her country (fortunately, member of the OPEC). This ability allows Pharah to navigate the battlefield by air, appear from expected places if you play the game, and reach areas off-limits even to the Genji's dash, as half the roaster. Pharah's time airborne with a combination of using the Hover Jets and the Jump Jets can be undefined, but it's usually 7.5 seconds.

Pharah is voiced by Pharah. Well, is voiced by her mouth. And her vocal cords. And her lungs. And... you get the idea.

  • You can't rocket jump. Well, actually you can, but it isn't better to press just one button? Press SPACE to great heights slowly.
  • Crouching and jumping simultaneously while aiming at the ground... is too confusing for new players. Press ⇧ Shift to great heights quickly. You can propel you farther by shooting yourself a rocket, at the cost of 40 of self-damage.
  • You will often aim rockets at enemy's feet, as people have legs.
  • Make sure you keep your Rocket Launcher loaded. Hit R to reload it at any time.
  • Press X to call for a healer if you get hurt. Healers probably won't be notified of your need as they already left the voice chat.

Update history

[Unknown date, maybe 2016]
  • Sold part of the TF2 franchise to Meteorological phenomenon. They created a new game called Team Fortress 3.

May 3, 2016 Patch (Team Fortress 3)

  • Launch of Team Fortress 3.

April 1, 2021 Patch

  • [Undocumented] Added easter eggs in Team Fortress 2 about Pharah, the hero from Team Fortress 3.

Trivia

The Pharah's model underneath the model of the tombstone of the 10th class.
  • Pharah's idea comes from a post in the Meteorological phenomenon forums while Team Fortress 3 was in beta, complaining about the difficulty of the first design of the hero, which was a full copy of the Soldier class in Team Fortress 2.[citation needed]
  • Merasmus appears as a cameo in Team Fortress 3, saying that he used the same magic for the Scattergun and the Stickybomb Launcher from TF2, weapons that nobody knows when the Scout and Demoman reload the ammo, to explain where the gasoline comes.
  • A Pharah's model was added in Harvest Event underneath the "tomb of the 10th class".
    • This suggests that Pharah could be added to Team Fortress 2 as the 10th class.
