Ghosts are NPCs and an environmental hazard introduced on Harvest Event and found on most later Halloween maps. They appear as stereotypical glowing blue/violet sheet ghosts, often wearing a Ghastly Gibus.
Normally, ghosts appears at certain spots in the map before following a predetermined route, shortly after which he will disappear. During their brief appearances, will echo moans and nearby lights may dim. If any player strays too close, the ghost will utter a boo and scare the player, haunting them for several seconds.
Ghosts may appear after a special event of the map occurs, depending of the map. Note that not all maps have ghosts.
- Ghosts appears after capturing an objective (e.g. in Eyeaduct after capturing the control point).
- Ghosts appears after a Witching Hour (e.g. after Helltower's Witching Hour, the ghost of Zepheniah Mann will appear in the Island).
- Ghosts appears when a Wheel of Fate determines it (e.g. Ghost Fort and Moonshine Event).
Some ghosts appears in pitfalls. They are permanent and don't move, though often they won't scare players.
Killing a player while they are scared by the ghost during a Halloween event will grant the player the Scared Stiff Scarechievement. Additionally, a player scared by the ghost will count towards certain stun/slowdown related achievements.
- Ghost players
In some Halloween maps, being the most famous cases Helltower's Hell and Carnival of Carnage's Bumper Cars zones, players turn into team-colored ghosts upon dying, whether by environmental death or by being killed by another player. They are given an infinite jump to let them "fly" around; and primary fire and voice commands will make the ghost say "Boo!", although it will not scare players like roaming ghosts will; otherwise, players are unable to attack or interact with other players. Ghost players are also unable to interact with objectives, like the book inside Skull Island in Helltower. There are some special behaviours for ghost players in some maps:
- In maps with bumper cars zones, like Carnival of Carnage or Gravestone, players turn into ghosts if they fall off the arena. A player that has become a ghost who touches a living ally will be resurrected, and can resume helping their team towards the duel's objective; if hit by an enemy player, they will bounce slightly up while making a spring sound.
- In Graveyard, players turn into "dispenser ghosts" when they die. As its name suggests, Dispenser ghosts provides health, ammo and metal to living allies at the rate of a Level 1 Dispenser.

Bugs
- Ghosts players in Helltower can be healed by friendly Medics and are affected by magic spells.
- If a player is stuck on the tower during Helltower's Witching Hour, stunned by Zepheniah, they are able to "spam" taunts over and over and move at the same time.
Notes
- Ghosts must remain somewhere on the map between their wanderings among the players. Usually, they are kept in hidden locations, where they appear face down after they have completed any wandering; the first case of this being the room under the point on Harvest Event.
