Bugs

  • Players can use the Director's Vision as an Engineer while carrying buildings.
  • Using the item as a Medic with the Amputator active will heal all nearby teammates.
  • Using the item as a Heavy with the Killing Gloves of Boxing, Gloves of Running Urgently, Warrior's Spirit, Fists of Steel, or Eviction Notice active will cause his fingers to clip through the weapons.
  • Using the Director's Vision taunt with a consumable item as your active weapon, such as Bonk! Atomic Punch or the Sandvich while your health is less than full, will deplete your consumable bar without the effect.
  • This item does not display an animation preview on the loadout screen, unlike the Meet the Medic and Schadenfreude taunts.
  • Hats noticeably clip with the player when the taunt is performed.
  • Some players are able to obtain this taunt after only 2-3 minutes of editing a replay, but some others are not able to get it despite several hours of editing. The reason for this is unknown.

Trivia

  • The Pyro is the only class that possesses multiple animations for the taunt: one somewhat feminine, another more masculine, adding further ambiguity to the Pyro's gender.
  • This is a common film gesture that is often stereotypically attributed to directors and photographers. By placing one's index finger against the opposing thumb on both hands, a natural square is created that mimics the widescreen aspect ratio of film. When placing this "square" over a prospective scene or event, one then can imagine or explain how the scene would look to a viewer if filmed or photographed, whilst keeping note of what may get cut off on the sides.
    • Some of the classes use a different method of the gesture in which both thumbs oppose each other and the index fingers are parallel.
  • It is possible to reenact the outdated "taunt weapon switch" glitch by selecting a weapon and simultaneously switching it and pressing the action key.
