Strange Shotgun - Kills: 0

Introduced in the Über Update, Strange quality weapons are found by opening Mann Co. Supply Crates of a certain series. Strange weapons track certain actions which are recorded as an item attribute. Some Strange weapons have more than one counter that tracks another associated action. Secondary counters do not count toward rank progress. Prefixes of Strange weapons will automatically change based on the primary counter's rank. Every time the weapon levels up - the message appears in the chat box notifying the players on the server.

The hexadecimal color code for Strange items is #CF6A32.

Ranks

All Strange weapons start with an initial prefix of Strange, however this is not a rank itself. Trading a Strange weapon will cause its counter to reset to zero and its prefix to reset to Strange, unless Gift Wrap is used.

Rank Kills Name
0 0 Strange
1 10 Unremarkable
2 25 Scarcely Lethal
3 45 Mildly Menacing
4 70 Somewhat Threatening
5 100 Uncharitable
6 135 Notably Dangerous
7 175 Sufficiently Lethal
8 225 Truly Feared
9 275 Spectacularly Lethal
10 350 Gore-Spattered
11 500 Wicked Nasty
12 750 Positively Inhumane
13 999 Totally Ordinary
14 1000 Face-Melting
15 1500 Rage-Inducing
16 2500 Server-Clearing
17 5000 Epic
18 7500 Legendary
19 7616 Australian
20 8500 Hale's Own

Notes

  • The following Strange items do not track kills, instead:
  • Disabling pop-up notifications under the 'Advanced Options' will keep the Strange rank notifications from appearing.
    • The trade, duel, craft and item drop notifications will not appear as well.
  • Killing a teammate while friendly fire is enabled will increase your kill total with that weapon by one, as though it were a normal kill.
  • The following actions don't increase the total kill count:
  • Kills are counted together for classes that share the same Strange weapon.
  • Using a Name Tag or Description Tag will change the name and description of the Strange weapon, but the weapon will still retain its rank and kill counter. Its current kill rank is displayed under the name of the weapon in light grey text.

Bugs

  • Counters do not update in-game when you inspect another player's Strange weapon on the Deathcam.
  • If a strange weapon goes up a rank, it will appear to have the original rank prefix when switching weapons until the player respawns.
  • It is possible to accumulate kills on the Strange Wrench or Strange Jag by killing yourself with the Wrangler.
  • The Eyelander levels up only on kills, rather than total heads collected.
