Heavy Robots appear in Mann vs. Machine as enemies.
Normal Variants
Heavy
Icon | Name | Primary | Attributes |

Heavyweapons | Minigun |
— |
The basic Heavy Robot, manufactured by Gray Mann. These robots are similar to the normal Heavy: big, tough, and pack a punch. The regular Heavy wields a Minigun, ripping anyone who dares to come too close to shreds. The Heavy robot often comes in small to medium sized waves, often accompanying other robots as support. They appear to have a delayed sense of enemy tracking, meaning that they will find it hard to hit a player dodging at close range.
Heavy Shotgun
Icon | Name | Secondary | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|
Heavy Shotgun | Shotgun |
+90% faster reload +200% more pellets per shot -67% damage dealt -150% slower firing speed |
This version of the Heavy robot wields a Shotgun and is seen in Mannhattan's advanced missions.

— |
The Heavyweight Champ is a pure melee variant of the Heavy robot, wearing the Pugilist's Protector. Although restricted to melee range, these robots often come in gigantic numbers. The Heavyweight Champ comes in two different types. The first type will wield the Killing Gloves of Boxing. These types are aggressive and, if not carrying the bomb, will seek out nearby players to punch and kill, gaining a crit-boost from their K.G.B. upon killing a player. The second variant wields the Gloves of Running Urgently, allowing them to move faster but receive Mini-Crits; these robots will often ignore players entirely and make a beeline for the bomb instead.
Steel Gauntlet
Icon | Name | Melee | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|
Steel Gauntlet | Fists of Steel |
50% larger in size 900 HP |
The Steel Gauntlet is similar to the Heavyweight Champ in the fact that it is a pure melee variant; however, the Steel Gauntlet can take an incredible amount of damage from ranged weapons due to its Fists of Steel and increased HP. They often appear in large waves and are sometimes assisted by other types of robots. The Steel Gauntlet often does not pose a threat to the players directly but instead by being a potent and resilient bomb carrier. Using melee weapons can make short work of Steel Gauntlets as they take double damage from melee sources, though the player will have to be very careful not to let the robots mob them.
Steel Gauntlet Pusher
Icon | Name | Melee | Hat | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Steel Gauntlet Pusher | Fists of Steel |
Carl |
50% larger in size 900 HP Deals knockback upon hitting an enemy +50% damage bonus |
The Steel Gauntlet Pusher is a Steel Gauntlet that deals more damage it also possesses the ability to deal knockback against players upon a successful hit. Because of this, hitting it with a melee weapon becomes a much harder task. Otherwise, they are identical.
Heavy Mittens
Icon | Name | Melee | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|
Heavy Mittens | Holiday Punch |
100% crit chance +30% faster move speed 60 HP |
The Heavy Mittens is another pure melee variant which possess increased speed and wields a permanent crit-boosted Holiday Punch. Spawning in small groups, they are unable to deal any damage, however any hit from them will force players to stand still and laugh, making them easier targets for other robots. They have been known to "Mob" players by ganging up on them, or to hang around a single laughing player and stun lock him. As such, it is advised to get rid of them before they get in melee range. Having only 20% of a typical Heavy robot's HP, they are fairly easy to destroy.
Deflector Heavy
Icon | Name | Primary | Hat | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Deflector Heavy | Deflector |
U-clank-a |
Can shoot down projectiles |
The Deflector Heavy functions similarly to the regular Heavy robot, with the added benefit of being able to shoot down incoming projectiles that are in flight. It is discernible from the regular Heavy robot by its U-clank-a and green tracer firing effect rather than the usual yellow/orange.
Giant Variants
Giant Heavy
Icon | Name | Primary | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|
Giant Heavy | Minigun |
5000 HP +70% knockback resistance +50% damage bonus -50% move speed Cannot see past 1200 units |
The giant Heavy is a giant version of the regular Heavy. It wields an overclocked Minigun that can do 50% more damage. The Giant Heavy acts largely the same as the regular Heavy robot and is often accompanied by various Medic Robots.
Giant Heavy Shotgun
Icon | Name | Secondary | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|
Giant Shotgun Heavy | Shotgun |
5000 HP +70% knockback resistance +90% faster reload Can shoot down projectiles +900% more pellets per shot -50% damage dealt -150% slower firing speed -30% move speed Cannot see past 1200 units |
Similar to its smaller counterpart, it wields a Shotgun and has the exact same bonuses and weaknesses as the regular Shotgun Heavy. However, it fires a lot more pellets per shot; being killed in one shot by this giant is not unusual. Extra caution should be taken around this robot.
Giant Deflector Heavy
Icon | Name | Primary | Hat | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Giant Deflector Heavy | Deflector |
U-clank-a |
5000 HP +70% knockback resistance +50% damage bonus Can shoot down projectiles -50% move speed Cannot see past 1200 units |
The Giant Deflector Heavy has all of the added benefits and negatives of the Giant Heavy, as well as the ability of its smaller counterpart to shoot down incoming projectiles. Like the Deflector Heavy, it can be identified by its U-clank-a and green tracer firing effect.
Giant Heater Heavy (Type 1)
Icon | Name | Primary | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|
Heavyweapons | Huo-Long Heater |
5000 HP +70% knockback resistance -50% move speed |
While lacking the regular Giant Heavy's high-powered Minigun, this robot has no maximum sight distance and is impossible to approach without bursting into flames.
Giant Heater Heavy (Type 2)
Icon | Name | Primary | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|
Heavyweapons | Huo-Long Heater |
5000 HP +70% knockback resistance +20% damage -50% move speed |
This variant of the Giant Heater Heavy has the same stats as the one mentioned before, except it deals 20% more damage, making it more versatile than the previous type. It is impossible to tell if a Giant Heater Heavy possesses the damage buff or not, as both of them have the same name, same icon, and same looks.
Captain Punch
Icon | Name | Melee | Hat | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Captain Punch | Fists of Steel |
War Head |
1.9x larger in size 60,000 HP +70% knockback resistance Extra +90% vertical airblast resistance 5.0x damage dealt +40% faster firing speed Regenerates 250 HP per second Provides 90% less rage -60% move speed |
This Heavy has an extremely large health pool, combined with regeneration and innate ranged damage resistance from the Fists of Steel means it will take a lot of firepower to destroy it. It will kill any class in one hit, forcing the player to stay a fair distance away.
Giant Heal-on-Kill Heavy
Icon | Name | Primary | Hat | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Giant Heal-on-Kill Heavy (Type 1) |
Deflector |
Tungsten Toque |
1.8x larger in size 70000 HP +20% damage bonus +8000 health restored on kill Can shoot down projectiles +70% knockback resistance Extra +90% vertical airblast resistance Provides 10% less rage Cannot see past 1600 units -60% move speed |
Icon | Name | Primary | Attributes |
---|---|---|---|
Giant Heal-on-Kill Heavy (Type 2) |
Deflector |
5000 HP +20% damage bonus +70% knockback resistance +5000 health restored on kill Can shoot down projectiles -65% move speed Cannot see past 1200 units |
These robots share the same projectile destruction property as Deflector Heavy robots, with the added ability to restore a large percentage of their health upon any successful kill. This makes them an extremely deadly force to deal with, though fortunately, their Minigun deals less damage than that of other giant Heavy variants.
Unused content
- The GRU Heavyweight Champ has a second, unused icon that was present in the game's files since the Mann vs. Machine mode launched.
- The K.G.B. Heavyweight Champ originally had a RED fist icon similar to the GRU Heavyweight Champ's, but it was later changed to BLU.
- Disabled code for the Heavy Mittens indicate the robot was to be 35% smaller and have the Point and Shoot and All-Father equipped, causing it to resemble a garden gnome; the code name for the Heavy Mittens is actually T_TFBot_Heavyweapons_Gnome.
- Three unused variants of the Giant Heavy exist: one with the Brass Beast, one with Natascha, and one with the K.G.B. called "Super Heavyweight Champ".
- There is an unused Deflector Heavy icon for a pusher Heavy, which suggests there were to be Minigun Heavies that knocked back players with each hit.
Trivia
- The Heavy Robots have two custom taunts: if equipped with a melee weapon, they flex their metal muscles, and if equipped with a Minigun, they will swing their weapon while giving a thumbs-up.
- An early version of the Heavy Robot's head can be briefly seen in the Engineer Update teaser.
- The variant "Captain Punch" may be a reference to the cereal mascot "Cap'N Crunch".
