火焰兵更新是火焰兵的相關內容更新，釋出於2008年6月19日更新。這使得火焰兵是第二個有特殊武器的職業，同時也新增了幾張社群自製地圖到遊戲中，像是 Fastlane 跟 Turbine。專訪狙擊手影片也在此次更新中釋出，但是它無關於更新內容，就像淘金熱更新時的偵察兵影片一樣。此次更新中還有一個 Valve Developer Wiki 的連結，裡面記載了遊戲中地圖的細節。
此次更新後，火焰兵成為了第一個擁有嘲諷殺人的職業，波動拳這個嘲諷可以殺死在火焰兵前方的敵人。同時壓縮氣爆功能也首次推出，使得火焰兵更具技巧性。
