Unnamed Topic

It seems to me that airblasting enemies so that my team mates can fire upon them gives me assists I didn't read this in the article and I myself am wondering if it is even true? - Meter1060 12:56, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes you do get assists for airblasting enemies. -- Pilk (talk) 14:42, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Charging Compression Blast

Can anyone elaborate on charging the compression blast, as it was newly added as of the September 30th update? K-Mac 03:44, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

I tested this in game and could not get it to work, anyone want to weigh in? K-MacTfccivilian thumb.png (Talk | Contrib) 05:28, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Same here. The airblasts seem to be exactly the same. Did anyone get it to work? Mentalbob 00:09, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Valve talked about it, but I'm pretty sure they haven't implemented it. It's in some fan-made projects like Weaponiser, and it might be in beta, but I don't think it's in any official gameplay yet... Electromagnet 17:40, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Kill icons

I know these kill icons are in the game files, but should it be specified that they're not actually in use right now? I think it would be best to put in what icons are actually used in the game, with the intended ones just below. About a week ago I got a kill with a deflected flaming arrow and the kill icon was the same as an ordinary flaming arrow bodyshot, so things still aren't fixed.

And perhaps since compression blast is used on the basic FT and degreaser, those weapons should have their kill icon list expanded with the airblast kill icons? (either in use, or the intended ones shown here right now). Maybe with a template, I'm not too great with this stuff yet but could give it a shot in a couple days. -Unapologetically Bad 14:28, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

For the airblast icons, you might need confirm which ones do not show. A lot can change in a week. For the expansion, definitely not. It is very unnecessary as there are a lot of killicons and the template might get cluttered. BLUH 14:48, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
True, it would require more than one person to test though so unless someone else is willing to test each weapon after each patch it seems like an error waiting to happen. Unapologetically Bad 09:11, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
A lot of them are wrong we dont have them all uploaded we need to add all of the new icons to our pages 42Khane 12:05, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Airblasted Snipers

I've just double checked to be sure, and airblasting a scoped sniper doesn't force him to unscope. A good (or lucky) scoped sniper can still land a shot in the air, it's just harder to aim. Or they could even just try getting some noscopes. Huntsman snipers however are completely unable to fire unless their feet are on the ground, so it's probably good to specify the difference. Since the goal of airblasting them is to keep them from attacking I'll just break it into two points. Unapologetically Bad 09:19, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Charging airblasts and two videos...

The section on charging airblasts has little effect on the game itself, as it requires edits to the game files that players and server operators are not expected to make. To tell the truth, my opinion is that the ability should not be any more than a quick trivia note. This section (surprisingly detailed for an ability that is not actually used in the game) beings me to my next point, which concern the two videos used on the page. Neither seems appropriate for the wiki (One of them is a frag video, for crying out loud.), both use custom skins and one demonstrates the aforementioned unused ability. I think that this page should instead use a video provided by the Weapon Demonstration Project (Perhaps the video used for the Flamethrower?) and rid itself of the two videos currently on the page. Thoughts? -The Neotank ( | Talk) User The Neotank Signeotank.gif 03:03, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

I agree entirely with what you said. Neither seem appropriate. I hope others will weigh in on this as well. K-MacTfccivilian thumb.png (Talk | Contrib) 13:58, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
As do I, the page has been changed accordingly. -- Lagg Backpack Stickybomb Launcher.png 14:07, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

To go with what The Neotank said, I don't think that an unused weapon mechanic is really notable, and should be, at most, a trivia piece. Strategy

Is the note on the compression blast being able to be used both offensively and defensively really necessary? The two headers right after that make the statement somewhat redundant. Chrysaor 09:32, 16 August 2011 (PDT)

I've reworded it a bit. » Cooper Kid (blether·contreebs) 09:55, 16 August 2011 (PDT)

Compression blast size

One of the lines of trivia says that the compression blast is 280 hammer units. I think that should go in the description on top of the page, since it's useful to know how far the blast reaches, assuming the size translates to "how far away from the projectile/enemy you can be". Weird airblasting when near teammates - bug or unexpected result of mechanics?

Quoting from the article: "Deflected projectiles are essentially stopped and fired again from the Pyro's current position, aimed directly at the object the Pyro's crosshair lies on at the time. This can give strange results if the crosshair is centered on very near objects and players, ..." What happens in-game is that airblasting near teammates will often deflect the projectile in an unexpected and often harmful direction, due to the Pyro's crosshair being over a nearby teammate. Should this be classified as bug or not? On one hand, it functions exactly as the article currently describes it. On the other hand, it's a pretty unexpected and counter-intuitive behavior. Are you sure this behavior is unintended by the developers and that the article is not describing the bug as a feature/mechanic? Spupy 19:57, 26 April 2013 (PDT)

Can anyone confirm that reflected stickies don't mini-crit?

I was convicnced otherwise. The preceding unsigned comment was added by ‎Justin Kayse (talk) • (contribs)

I'm pretty sure they do. Only takes like 2 people to test. Ashes (talk) 10:47, 28 February 2014 (PST)
Well that information needs updating then, unless you want to test to confirm first, if so just add this name Justin Kayse (talk) 10:50, 28 February 2014 (PST)
Meh, I can easily test in a private server however I'm not home. So yeah. I can probably get someone else to confirm it. Ashes (talk) 10:50, 28 February 2014 (PST)

Can you reflect multiple projectiles simultaneously?

If not, you should be able to! The preceding unsigned comment was added by ‎Justin Kayse (talk) • (contribs)

Yes you can reflect multiple projectiles simultaneously. I've reflected 3 rockets and stickies all at once. Ashes (talk) 10:47, 28 February 2014 (PST)

Reflect Flares

First of all, I was wondering do the correct reflect flare kill icons (the one that looks like a reflected flare) only show when you have a shotgun equipped? Whenever I've gotten a reflected flare kill was when I had a flare gun (scorch shot) equipped, and the kill icon was a minicritted scorch shot kill icon. Also, when I got a reflected flare afterburn kill, it showed as a detonator kill icon (which was the gun I was using), even though the reflected flare was from the default flare gun. Secondly should it be added to trivia or something that when you reflect a Manmelter projectile it comes back a regular looking flare?

Animation error

Shouldn't the thing with secondary fire be at the flamethrower page? I put it there for now in case many agree The preceding unsigned comment was added by LawrenceHellsing (talk) • (contribs)

self-damage bug

replying to grampaswood here since i can't read replies on my user talk page

https://youtube.com/watch?v=cvGbGDuHZaI

in this video, reflected grenades, sentry rockets, and detonator flares deal 170 self-damage

normal grenade self-damage is 75

normal sentry rocket self-damage is 100

normal detonator flare self-damage is 45

rocket launcher rockets currently don't experience this bug, that's why it deals the normal 90 self-damage

but in the past, rockets also used to be affected by this bug (that's why there was bug entry on this page about receiving self-damage through reflecting rocket jumper rockets) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=USuOjWPHTAQ

reflecting rockets now properly applies rocket launcher damage attributes for the projectile, so a reflected liberty launcher rocket for example will properly deal 75% self-damage (this is why reflected rocket launcher rockets no longer count towards strange/killstreak kills, see current 2nd-last bug entry on this page)

reflecting grenades, sentry rockets, and detonator flares incorrectly applies flamethrower damage atrributes for the projectile (this is also why degreaser reduces afterburn damage for reflected projectiles, see current top bug entry on this page)

the Damage attribute found in scripts/tf_weapon_flamethrower.ctx is 170, which is supposed to be the flamethrower's max dps (a comment on the same line says "per second")

so these reflected projectiles incorrectly use the flamethrower's dps to deal self-damage

Notes and Bugs

The notes seem like they should belong in the bugs categories because they all just sound like unintentional side effects of airblasts. The strange variant and the environmental hazard notes sound as if they would fit in the category. Wouldn't it be best to merge the two?

MEMEScouty (talk) 18:38, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

The last one is a note, the other 2 are Killfeed bugs.
