I propose we replace the original Sandman picture shown in this article with one containing the Sandman and the Baseball. The ball is just as important and the bat, and is also the first thing the player will see when using the Sandman for the first time.--Focusknock 15:07, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Sandman and HHH
Does a Sandman ball count as a melee hit for the HHH achievement?

It hse the crit rate of melee weapons so it should count. User 101 00:12, 9 March 2012 (PST)

"Sandman" name reference
Under trivia, a user noted the reference to the folklore creature "sandman," and while this seems like a very likely inspiration, it may also have some connection with the baseball "sand-lots" common in city areas (i.e. Boston, where the scout comes from). Does anybody else think this might be a valid addition? Even if not for "trivia," it may be find a home under "list of references." GenericCola 05:54, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

: References to other media are tricky to pin down; the reference to the sandman creature makes sense because it puts enemies to 'sleep', whereas your reference to sand lots makes sense as it links to the Scout's background. I would suggest adding it onto the sandman creature trivia as a possibility, though this might not go down well with trivia patrollers.--<span style="color:purple">Focusknock</span> 15:49, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

::::: I do not think it does reference the folklore character Sandman. I think it references the fact that in the summer of 1999, the Yankee Stadium scoreboard production staff began playing the song "Enter Sandman" by heavy metal band Metallica as Rivera's entrance music. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariano_Rivera See section 2.2.2. == When was the alt fire added? ==

I couldn't find it in the update history, and since it was an undocumented change at the time, it might be something worth looking into adding to the update history Balladofwindfishes 21:05, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

I'm confused by the question... I think you're looking for the day of the scout update (Feb. 24, 2009). Like other weapons, it says when it was patched in but does not say any of its original abilities. BASEBALLFURIES 03:17, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

: He's asking when the ability to throw a ball was moved to the alt fire button. Previously the ball would automatically launch when primary fire was pressed. I'm not sure when this happened myself.--<span style="color:purple">Focusknock</span> 09:23, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

::Maybe the Classless update? I tried a SPUF search of topics around that time referencing the sandman, and couldn't find any mention of it Balladofwindfishes 02:31, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Doublejump Removal
When the Sandman was first released, it removed doublejump instead of having a -15hp penalty. Shouldnt this be added to the update list? Untamed64 21:38, 10 September 2011 (PDT)

Trivia
I mentioned this above in the Sandman Name Reference topic, but I think that the name actually refers to Mariano Rivera's entrance theme from the summer of 1999 onwards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariano_Rivera See section 2.2.2. Taser9001 04:15, 31 May 2012 (PDT)

:I also think we should remove the sand lot trivia, as that is a bit too speculative to mention. Taser9001 04:23, 31 May 2012 (PDT)

::Not entirely sure about this one. The relation to a theme played for a baseball player seems rather minimal compared to the reference to the Sandman myth - especially considering the fact that "Enter Sandman" is a song about the mythological character itself. A lot depends on how well-known the baseball player is - I'm not a baseball fan myself so I don't know a thing about him. If you were to say "Sandman" to someone in the USA would they think of the baseball player, or the myth? There are just too many unknowns to list it as trivia quite yet. If you equip the Pretty Boys Pocket Pistol and the Sandman together, instead of your health being 110 it will be 125, because the Pistol has a health bonus.Venomrider 10:44, 20 August 2012 (PDT)

Moon Shot Achievment Bug
It is possible to earn the Moon Shot achievement if an enemy Pyro reflects the ball back at you. Should this be added under the bugs section? Mistahmoo 11:19, 10 April 2013 (PDT)

: Do you mean that the Pyro earns the achievement? --SilverHammer 12:00, 10 April 2013 (PDT)

i think its not possible <span style="font-family:TF2 Build; color:#461BE0 ">He</span><span style="font-family:TF2 Build; color:#B8383B ">car</span><span style="font-family:TF2 Build; color:#000000">imz</span> 18:05, 10 April 2013 (PDT)

Well, the soldier can get the pyro achievment pilot light by rocket jumping with a cow mangler charged shot, so i dont see why the pyro cant get Moon Shot. Hexacosichoron (talk) 00:07, 8 June 2013 (PDT)

Ball Reflects
Can a sandman weilding scout still hit an enemy scout's ball while flying through the air to reflect it like a pyro? I remember being able to do that, but its not listed on the page nor the video. It also plays a part in a scout achievment, so im pretty sure it still exists. Hexacosichoron (talk) 00:11, 8 June 2013 (PDT)

Reflecting Stickies
The Sandman ball can also reflect stickybombs, though I'm unsure if that should be added to the list of projectiles. Proof if needed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOi3y4xJ7AQ Kariko (talk) 19:04, 17 October 2013 (PDT)

Long-Distance Kills
I apologize if this isn't the correct place to say this, but in the section where it is shown what strange parts can be applied (Strange Variant Info, I believe it's titled), it shows that the part "Long-Distance Kills" cannot be applied, however the part indeed can be applied. I attempted to edit this myself, but when observing the wikitext section I found that it had nothing to do with the images, and I could not manage to find out how to edit the images.

Crit Stun-time modifier?
I've noticed that at close range, a crit sandman ball will stun players for a considerable time compared to a non-crit. I can remember seeing somewhere that it added about 3 additional seconds to the total, which explains why at longer ranges the difference was less noticable.
