Medic Taunt Kill Icon

You sure about that? I just checked again and it displays the Spinal Tap icon now. EdGe Of FiRe 14:40, 12 July 2011 (PDT)EdGe_Of_FiRe

Yeah. What map / server are you checking on? Sure you don't have some custom kill icon pack or something installed? Someone else should probably check just to make sure it isn't just me. seb26 14:44, 12 July 2011 (PDT)
Just wanted to point something out: There's a SourceMod plugin out there made by FlaminSarge that changes the Spinal Tap kill icon from the Ubersaw taunt-kill icon to the unused (and proper) kill icon left in the game by Valve. Check it out. "Medic Taunt Killicon Fix" plugin by FlaminSarge. 404 User Not Found 14:50, 12 July 2011 (PDT)

Hazard infobox kill-icon

Hi Seb,

Can you please make the killicon optional on Template:Hazard infobox. It's required for the Ghost page, as it doesn't actually kill players.

Thanks. i-ghost 05:30, 15 July 2011 (PDT)

Question

What are those (+*) stuff in the changes page? Cnnoi33 00:47, 20 July 2011 (PDT)

(+532) or (-1,048) etc are the net changes in bytes made in that particular edit. For example if someone added 200 characters to a page (although characters don't always equal 1 byte) it would show +200. seb26 00:50, 20 July 2011 (PDT)

Oh thanks :) Cnnoi33 00:54, 20 July 2011 (PDT)

"a TF2 emblem doesn't even imply 'all classes'"

I dont neccesarily agree there. If we have no icon at all it just looks like it falls under the same class as whatever the last icon was.

Leaderboard class spy.png Le Party Phantom · TF2 crosshair orange.png A Rather Festive Tree

The top one makes it look like the festive tree is another spy hat, according to our current layout, and that could cause confusion. There's nothing wrong with a tf2 emblem to clarify that the hat can be worn by anyone.--Piemanmoo 00:51, 2 August 2011 (PDT)

Is there something wrong with a tooltip to clarify? Thenyproject 00:54, 2 August 2011 (PDT)
While that's probably true, the TF2 emblem doesn't even make sense as an icon even if it's used to distinguish something else. Same with the question mark icon that's been making the rounds (it looks as if the class is simply not known, instead of meaning 'all classes'). I think it would be better to simply put the all class hats at the beginning of a list away from icons, better than having some icon that doesn't even mean what it apparently means. Iconspam is becoming a problem, not everything needs icons all the time. seb26 00:58, 2 August 2011 (PDT)

Delete uploaded images.

Hey Seb, can you blow away this image and this image? These images don't face quite the same way as the Dueling Badges/medals from the 119th Update, and I'd rather find ones that conform to that those. ButteredToast 08:49, 2 August 2011 (PDT)

Bonk! Atomic Punch article

Another user undid most of my edits on Bonk!_Atomic_Punch and I was wondering if you could take a look in order for me to understand what I did wrong for any future editing:

1.) Why was putting the two alternative names wrong when I have seen it referred to as "Bonk! Energy Drink" and "Bonk!" by Valve? I'm not counting the article itself as a source, but the word "Bonk!" is used in that numerous times.

2.) Why was removing "unlockable" wrong? You can get this item numerous ways (Unlock, Craft, Drop, Purchase, Crate), and it tells you how the Scout class is able to unlock it by achievements at the end of the article.

3.) Why was my sentence changed back to "Upon drinking, this weapon provides temporary invincibility to the player from any type of damage, bar environmental and telefragging."? It is technically a "weapon", but the reader may read that as it being a weapon that you hit other players with or something. Also, "bar environmental and telefragging" does not read as well as "excluding environmental damage and telefragging".

4.) Both "under the effect" and "under the effects" are used in the article to describe Bonk!'s properties after being consumed, which is confusing to the reader.

5.) Is the "flag" spelled intelligence or Intelligence when being referred to?

6.) When referring to the cart, is it spelled "Payload cart" or "payload cart"? I thought Payload was capitalized only if it was the map being referred to, not the cart.

7.) When referring to the locker, is it spelled "Resupply locker" or "resupply locker? It is just a general object in the game and I haven't seen the word "Resupply" capitalized by Valve in the patch notes.

8.) Shouldn't it be "Natascha" versus "the Natascha"?

9.) Shouldn't it be "a flamethrower's compression blast" versus "the Flamethrower's compression blast"? The "Flamethrower" is the specific name of a "flamethrower". The game has a few "flamethrowers". Is the "Flamethrower" the only one of its kind that interrupts the drinking process?

10.) Are general names of taunts, like "Action taunt", capitalized?

11.) The sentence "If the player uses the console commands kill, or explode to commit suicide while under the effects Bonk! Atomic Punch, the kill will be awarded to the last player on the enemy team to have dealt damage the Scout with a weapon, even if the Scout was invulnerable at the time the damage was taken." does not entirely make sense in my opinion.

12.) In the sentence "An active adult's daily recommended sugar intake is around 90 grams. Assuming the contents of Bonk! Atomic Punch are as advertised, the drink would have to contain several hundred times worth the daily recommended amount, weighing a can of Bonk! at least 9 kg. This would equate roughly to 20 lbs.", are the links to grams and lbs. needed? The part saying "Assuming the contents of Bonk! Atomic Punch are as advertised, the drink would have to contain several hundred times worth the daily recommended amount..." sounds a little confusing. The "advertisement" already states that Bonk! has several hundred times worth the daily recommended amount of sugar, so why does it have to sound speculative? Also, is the trivia trying to say how much sugar a person would intake if they drank Bonk!, or instead on how heavy the can would be in the real world?

13.) Should it be written as "Bonk logo" or something like "Bonk! Atom Punch" logo?

14.) I think that the part where it says "...where the Scout appeared under the Bonk logo dressed like DC superhero, The Flash, who, like the Scout, is famous for his speed." has one too many commas.

15.) Why was my fix to the reference section changed back to "uberupdate scoutpack. It has a hanging " symbol and when you click the link it doesn't say "uberupdate scoutpack, but instead The Über Update Scout Pack like I wrote earlier.

I'm not sure whether in each of those points either person is right / wrong, but I would say that things like this would be better brought up on the article's talk page so that others can have input seb26 00:27, 13 August 2011 (PDT)
I have brought up some particular questions in articles' talk pages, but no one seems to have answered. I thought I'd ask an admin. Rolandius 05:15, 13 August 2011 (PDT)

RE: Templates

Actually, I split 2 tables into 2 templates. Regardless, I was planning on adding translation switching to them. Thank god you didn't delete the templates after removing them from the page. However, I've been very busy lately (full time job and what-not), so I've been unable to work on adding translation switching. 404 User Not Found 03:22, 15 August 2011 (PDT)

Item quality colored in articles

I was wondering what you thought of having the item quality name in articles colored. For example, "...received a Genuine quality version of the weapon..." would be changed to "...received a Genuine quality version of the weapon..." Rolandius 05:55, 19 August 2011 (PDT)

I think it's not necessary seb26 05:56, 19 August 2011 (PDT)

Icon class

Why the Über Update template can use the all class icon and the Manno-Technology no? Dio ★ (talk) 15:44, 19 August 2011 (PDT)

I removed it from {{ÜberUpdateNav}} but somebody added it again. The all class icon shouldn't be used because it doesn't make sense as an icon. The TF2 emblem doesn't look like it means "all classes". If there's no one class for an item in the nav it should just not use an icon at all seb26 15:48, 19 August 2011 (PDT)

Talk Page Disaster

All class icon

I saw that you had been removing the TF2 emblem as the all class icon. While I am sure that this has been discussed by people more knowledgeable then me, I just wanted to point out that Valve actually also uses the TF2 emblem as an all class icon, as seen on the Deus Ex Update page, near the bottom. The Machina, Diamondback, Purity Fist, Widowmaker, Short Circuit and Nanobalaclava all use the icon of their TF2 class, while the Company Man and Dues Specs, both all class items, use the TF2 emblem. I just thought I should point that out, just in case it was missed or something. -- Killicon train.png Hefaistus - talk 00:44, 20 August 2011 (PDT)

I didn't see this, hmmpf. It hasn't really been decided one way or the other, it was brought up on Discussion a couple of weeks ago but there wasn't any real agreement. I will stop removing the icons from stuff until more people weigh in but I still think that it doesn't really make sense as an icon. seb26 00:50, 20 August 2011 (PDT)
I knew I had seen the discussion before, I just couldn't find it. I will post the bit about the Deus Ex page in the discussion, maybe that it will get the discussion going. -- Killicon train.png Hefaistus - talk 00:54, 20 August 2011 (PDT)

Please stop deleting zh-hans page variants.

They are NOT plagiarized from zh-hant variants. Please understand that Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese are the exact same language only some words are written or "spelled" differently. This is the same as American English and European English.

Thank You For Understanding.

Shawnchi 17:37, 23 August 2011 (PDT)

It seems the deleted pages were removed because they had be tagged for deletion by ~www~ - a long-time Traditional Chinese translator. I'll invite him to participate in this discussion as I know nothing of the Chinese language, to hear what he has to say. -RJ 18:11, 23 August 2011 (PDT)
To Shawnchi: I think you are the one who totally misunderstood the whole situation. The TChinese and SChinese are NOT the same language. First, it were developed by Communist Party of China and ancient China separately, second, a large amount of usage is different, last, the tones are different. Even though you consider these two languages are the same, I would say that almost all Taiwanese will not agree with that. You guys should do the pages from scratch, not just copy and claim that you didn't. If you still want to against me, fine, talk to Nafoul, he is the SChinese translator. He also agreed that I should delete the copied pages. Anyway, I see that you also did some pages which I consider plagiarism. So here's my last warning: If you Chinese guys kept doing these, I would try to delete it faster than your speed of coping. Now please, shut up, stop coping and do some REAL works for yourself and your colleagues.

To Seb or RJ: I have many reasons to prove that they were plagiarizing. If you open the pages of Minigun/zh-hant and Minigun/zh-hans, then switch watching between it, you will find out that it's totally the same. Even though the language are the same, the words count is impossible to be the same if they translated the pages from scratch. It's easy to find out even though you know nothing about Chinese. I speculate that they just copied the zh-hant, put the text in Microsoft Word, converted it, change the links, put it on zh-hans at last. If they deny that, I got a strong prove: why the name of Minigun in SChinese is "转轮机枪" but changed to "格林机枪" when he created the pages?? "格林機槍" was the name of Minigun in TChinese, and they even too lazy to change the name when they converted the text ! Believe me Seb, these Chinese are making some excuse to justify their acts of plagiarism. I seldom get angry, but this time I'm sick of what they did. I get really angry this time because they always want to accomplish something but refusing to put any effort in it. I hope your judgment can give me the right of protecting the zh-hant. If you think that they are making too many troubles, you can even close the whole zh-hans project ! In sum, it's all your decision. If you want more prove, I would love to find more for both of us, and the whole Wiki community.
