Gameplay
The goal of MGE is to simulate one on one scenarios. Two players are spawned in an arena, which is usually an important area of a competitively-played map (such as the spire on Badlands and the chokepoint on Granary) The first player to reach 20 kills wins. Other than the standard arena selections, players can choose custom made competitive stages (such as endif and ammomod). The first player to reach 5 kills wins. You can enter an arena by typing "!add" into the chat and making a selection. If no one is queued at an arena, you will be forced to wait until a second player joins. When a duel ends, any player in the arena's queue is added to play over those who previously played, with the winner of the match staying in the game and the person who lost made to wait until one of the other players wins. Different arenas have different class restrictions, but the only classes allowed for general play are the Soldier, Demoman, Scout, and Sniper. MGE features MikeJS’s ELO rating system. You start with 1,600 points and gain more by winning duels.
Arena types
MGE features three arena types:
- Default: Both players spawn with normal health values and are able to fight normally as they would in a real game.
- AmmoMod: Both players spawn with multiples of their normal health, allowing for extended practice between kills/deaths.
- Directs: Only direct hits with projectiles will deal damage. Misses disappear through the map, preventing splash damage.
The arenas that are included are:
- Granary Middle
- Granary Last
- Badlands Middle
- Badlands Spire
- Viaduct Middle
- Waste Middle
- Gullywash Middle
- Snakewater Middle
- Endif, a mode where players try to pop each other into the air (either using the Demoman or the Soldier) and air shoot (shoot them whilst they are still in the air) them. The first person to air shot the other player 5 times wins the round.
- BBall, a map where both of the players try to take the Intelligence and bring it into the "basketball hoops". This is only be achieved by rocket jumping, sticky jumping, or using the Force-A-Nature.
- AmmoMod
