Does a sandvich thrown count as a projectile? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Coconut (talk) • (contribs) 2010-07-01T13:46:05

No, I believe not. -- Smashman... (ts) 17:47, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

"*...that every class but the Demoman, Soldier and Medic got new Medic call lines following the Engineer update?" Is it just me, or does this seem wrong? My guess is that those voice actors aren't available yet, so they just implemented most of them for the time being.

The Heavy got the lines and he shares the same voice actor as the Demoman. The Medic's voice actor won't be available for a while(or forever.
But.. but.. what about Meet The Medic? :'( Netshroud 00:21, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Don't know about the Soldier Sam-1-14 23:43, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Pictogram minus.png Wrong. All of the lines used by the classes were unused until then, and just made it into the game in the Engineer Update.

Doesn't the Showdown taunt kill with a long bullet rather than a wide one? Hostile Companion Cube Roar 23:33, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Engineer unlocks

"...that the Engineer is the only class to receive unlockable weapons before his update?"

What weapon is this referring to? Lugermorph wasn't usable by Engineer until the Engineer Update... and that's a moot point anyway, as it wasn't an unlock.

--Powerlord 23:05, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

The Lugermorph was available to the Engineer on July 1, 2010. Unlockable weapon refers to any of the weapons that aren't one of the basic weapons. --Firestorm 23:08, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Theoretically, the Golden Wrench was available before the Engineer Update. Not that there's much people who have it anyway. -- Vi3trice (talk) 23:13, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Replying to both of the above, the Wiki's own weapon template divides weapons into Standard, Unlock, Drop, Special, and Promotion. Even if we count Drops as unlocks, we still don't count the Lugermorph or Golden Wrench in either group. --Powerlord 23:58, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Even better, to quote you Firestorm: "Unlock = Can be unlocked through achievements, dropped or crafted. " -- Powerlord 23:59, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps this should be reworded as "...that the Engineer is the only class to receive alternative weapons before his update?" — Wind 00:05, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
A reword would work. We must understand the difference between "Unlockable Weapon" and "Unlock". Unfortunately, no word has been given that could reasonably describe the alternate items. --Firestorm 00:18, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
The Golden Wrench seems a little too close to the Engineer Update, as it was technically also "released" for the same update. I don't know. -Rocket Ship BBQ 19:58, 8 September 2011 (PDT)

Previous Did-you-knows

"...that the Snipers's Halloween Mask features a "suprised" face with 3 eyes? So far, no one has manged to figure out why." Thats a lie! I figured it out- he's putting a third eye in the middle of their forehead ie. Boom, Headshot. Facts need to be tested and proof-read before posted

Many of the facts in the Add Facts section are either re-posts, improperly spelled, already listed, possibly fake, or any combination of the previously mentioned. I suggest that facts must be posted in the discussion section so people can proof-read and test them out before deciding whether they should be added to the list or not. Here's an example of one that I removed because it didn't seem like it was true: "*...that you can look directly through the Rocket Launcher model's barrel even when it is loaded, yet you cannot do the same with the Direct Hit model?" It not only seems fake, but also worded incorrectly. Post your thoughts here. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lordgeorge16 (talk) • (contribs) 2010-09-28T15:31:50

I'd like to second this, seeing what is currently up there... "that in the beta version of the game, 2fort had no bridge" which should be no ROOF on the bridge, seeing as the map really wouldn't work without a bridge anyway. A Boojum Snark 02:50, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Grammar Check

The current trivia says Beta 2Fort didn't have a "roof on bridge". Seems grammatically incorrect. Danton 14:01, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Huntsman?

One of the facts says "that the Sniper originally fired his Huntsman in a right-handed manner".

Shouldn't it be "left-handed manner", as the bow used to be held in a left-handed fashion prior to a patch? Magic Magician 09:23, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

The Spanish Version

Why in the spanish version of Did You Know in the Current Display Facts (Hechos Mostrados Actualmente) the facts appears in english when all of the page are translated?

Wait, what?

I just found a fact that reads: "...that the Red Spy is apparently the Blu Scout's father?"

Sounds like conjecture to me. Unless this fact can be confirmed, I'd probably suggest removing it. Magic Magician 10:26, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

It's a fail, it will be "...that the Red Spy is apparently the Blu Scout's mother?" --Ryo 14:42, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
Did some digging, couldn't find any justification for the fact. I've removed it - if anyone can prove otherwise, please post it here and undo the edit. Magic Magician 03:56, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Loch n' Load

I don't think that all stock items can be replaced in loadouts. Does anyone playing the Engineer or the Spy here? How about the Engineer's P.D.As or the Spy's Disguise Case and the Electro Sapper! They have no replacement yet! I think that not all stock items can be replaced. Mardamien24 09:46, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Ha.....Wait What?

I was just reading the "Did you know..." stuff and some of them (like it entirely i guess?) arent updated, wrong, or just what?

like these...

...that the Medic was the only class not to receive a taunt attack in his own update?

...that the Pyro was the only class to receive a class update without receiving a new taunt?

and this?

...the Direct Hit is the only weapon to have a brand name imprinted on it (the words MANN CO. appear on the scope)?

The Scott. Res. has MANN CO. on the drum barrel right?

and these have been fixed/patched/removed?

.... if a Soldier has the Rocket Jumper and Equalizer equipped he can perform the Kamikaze taunt without damaging himself? This is also a way of Concussion Jumping.

...that the new kill symbols of the Polycount weapons are a different shade to previous kill icons?

...that the Scotsman's Skullcutter, the Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker and the Eyelander are the only weapons that can decapitate?

...that a Spy can remove his own Sapper using the console command "destroy 4"?

And these...

...that you can survive the Heavy's taunt kill if you are wearing The Fists of Steel? <- should include that all of them BUT Decapitation, organ grinder (I got the wrong i think...)

...that the Demoman will wield his Scotsman's Skullcutter, Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker and Claidheamh Mòr with two hands in 1st person view, but single handed in world view? <--- This is a graphical glitch (i think...) in the loadout screen. Gamecrazy009 21:19, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Well first, thank you for not editing those out to begin with and starting a discussion instead. Second, a good lot of those Did you knows are actually true.

The Medic was the first class to be updated, and when he was, he did not recieve a taunt kill. Every class after that (Pyro, Heavy, Scout, Sniper/Spy, Soilder/Demoman, and Engiee) all recieved taunt kills in their updates.

The Pyro, while he did receive a taunt kill, used an animations that already exsisted in the game. He plays his guitar with all his melee weapons, he shoots a fire ball with his secondary, and lifts his flamethower over his head with his primary. All of these use the same animations he originally came with, and so he has not recieved any new taunt animations to date.

The Scottish Resistance I've checked out and can confirm it does not have Mann CO. written on the drum barrel. There may appear ot be writting due to texturing but there it actually nothing.

As for the Demoman weilding his melees with 2 hands world view verses 1 hand in first person view I can also confirm as true because I tested that one out myself :D.

The rest of them will need to be tested though. Thanks for that -- No-oneSpecial Killicon flame thrower.png (talk | contribs) 07:24, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Rotation

Shouldn't we be rotating these facts? Just curious; we've been on the current lineup for a while now, I know that much. Gerk 04:24, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Gaelic

"...that the Demoman is the only class who never speaks his native language of Highland Gaelic?"

1. "Highland Gaelic" isn't a language, it's just called Gaelic.

2. It's not the Demoman's native language - Gaelic is hardly taught anywhere any more and it is nobody's first language.

3. How do we know the Pyro doesn't speak his/her/its native language? --Cooper Kid (Blether · Contreebs) 23:01, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Assist Self as Spy

For all I know, that doesn't work anymore. Shooting a building that you sapped just gives you a gun kill without an assist. Rocket Ship BBQ 22:13, 19 July 2011 (PDT)

Fire-based damage

'...the Sniper is the only class besides the Pyro able to deal fire-based damage?' Not sure if this is true any more, since the alt-fire of the Cow Mangler 5000 can deal afterburn (though I'm not sure if that counts as fire-based damage, it should though...) Jumpluff 01:38, 26 July 2011 (PDT)

Did You Know guidelines versus Trivia Guidelines

I noticed today that on the "did you know" section, we have a lot of "facts" that are basically just x of y trivia bullet points. Such points like "Medic and Heavy are the only two classes without default headgear" would be removed in an instant on the specific class pages, but are fine for did you know? It just seems confusing that, on one hand, we state the fact is interesting (as a did you know), and yet, on another (as trivia) it's not interesting and greatly discouraged. I think the Did you Know guidelines should more closely follow the trivia guidelines, if not outright BE the trivia guidelines. Further, it would save a step of having to go through and monitor the list, as new "Did You Know" points could just be copied directly from interesting trivia pieces. Balladofwindfishes 08:53, 30 August 2011 (PDT)

It's my opinion that there are not only a great deal of substandard or 'lacking' factoids that are added just because, but also if you simply compare the suggestions to one another, let alone the currently displayed facts, which are either helpful or intriguing to the majority, you'll notice that a great number are not so much of either. Perhaps some examples of factoids could be made in the final bullet point of Help:Did_you_know? --Xenaero 09:11, 30 August 2011 (PDT)
I agree that some of them are really poor; "Medic and Heavy are the only two classes without default headgear" stands out.MEDUNN 07:10, 19 September 2011 (PDT)
Seems like a bit of an obvious fact anyway; that's like saying "Demoman is the only class with an eyepatch". » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 08:45, 26 September 2011 (PDT)

Ambassador piercing ability?

Apparently the Ambassador previously could penetrate targets? No where in the patch notes does it say it was removed... -Rocket Ship BBQ 19:51, 4 October 2011 (PDT)

First unusual hat

Nowadays unusuals are quite usual items on game servers. There are thousands of them around the TF2. Maybe anyone knows the guy who unboxed first unusual in the world and what was the hat? It would be interesting, I think. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Plummaster (talk) • (contribs) 13:06, 12 October 2011

Market Gardener

I found out a fact that I think is little known: The market gardener also crits when rocket jumping using enemy rockets. Tested this a couple times in bball and MGE and got quite a few kills with it. Someone put this into a correct sentence, please. Something like ...that the Market-Gardener also crits while jumping using enemy rockets. LeGenD`RaGe 13:41, 12 January 2012 (PST)
