This article lists currently unreleased content that is assumed to be released before the end of Team Fortress 2's life.

Team Fortress 2 Updates

Mapper's Medallion

Main article: Mapper's Medallion

The Mapper's Medallion is a special medal created by Lord Ned of TF2maps.net in order to congratulate the participants of the Art Pass contest. This medal is similar to the Polycount Pin as it will only be available to those who entered the competition. The Mapper's Medallion does not currently have a release date. Valve have stated that they are currently working on a new system for the implementation of medals, it will allow Valve to quickly and easily include many different types of medals into the game, such as the Mapper's Medallion and the Highlander league reward medals. The system is apparently in a late testing stage.

ETF2L Highlander Community Challenge, UGC Highlander, ESL 6on6 League and ozfortress Ultiduo5 Medals

Twelve medals are to be added to the game and given to participants and winners of the ETF2L Highlander Community Challenge, UGC Highlander, ESL 6on6 League and the ozfortress Ultiduo5 when the tournaments end. Currently, it has been confirmed that there are a first place, second place, third place, and participant medal that will become available for the first three tournaments' entrants; however, only a winner and runner-up medal (designed by Valve) will be issued to winners of Ultiduo5.

New demo format

Robin Walker has discussed a new system for recording demos, where a player can request a recording from the server at the end of a life or round. The plan is for the format to be "More robust" so the demos will not become unplayable as easily as the current system when the game is updated.[1] Another goal is to allow people to easily share their videos on video sharing sites.[2]

Unreleased Items

Main articles: Legionaire's Lid, Companion Cube Pin, Quick fix, Gadget Token, Heraldic Targe

A community-contributed hat, known as the Legionaire's Lid (according to the tf_english.txt file), is also in the GCF. It even has a description. In the November 19, 2010 Patch a second unreleased item was added in-game, the Companion Cube Pin. It is assumed it will be given out as a bonus for preordering Portal 2, similar to other Promotional items. In the December 23, 2010 Patch, tf_english.txt strings for an unreleased Medi Gun, known as the Quick-Fix, a new Demoman shield, known as the Heraldic Targe ,and Gadget Tokens were revealed.

Large Scale Performance Update

Robin Walker discussed with one of the community contributors in an email about a future performance update in the works, replacing all World and View models with the new C model type, and updating existing C models and the new C models with LODs. This update will significantly increase performance and allow for a greater range of community and Valve item replacements in later updates. Many C models have already been replaced with LODs, however many more are still to come.

Multiple Paint Schemes

Following radical changes in the painting scheme of some hats (Scotsman Stovepipe and Troublemaker's Tossle Cap being excellent examples) after the December 2, 2010 Patch, Brandon Reinhart has responded by email stating that a feature that will allow choosing the paint scheme for a hat is in development.[3]

Training Mod for the remaining classes

The Scout, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Engineer, Medic, Sniper and Spy's Training mod is coming in an upcoming update.

Other

Unreleased Meet the Team videos

There are three unreleased Meet the Team videos expected for release, Meet the Pyro, Meet the Medic and a currently unnamed and unrevealed video. As revealed in an interview with Robin Walker by the podcast Kritzkast, Meet the Pyro will be a look at the world through the Pyro's eyes.[2]

Apparently some Portal 2 playtesters at Valve were given a private viewing of Meet the Medic, meaning the next video in the series is close to being finished and will most likely be released sometime in the near future. People present commented on the video claiming some of the post-processing effects were missing but the majority of the content was complete.[4]

Source Filmmaker

Main article: Source Filmmaker

Source Filmmaker is the name of the tool used to create the Meet the Team videos, the Left 4 Dead intro movies, and other Valve-produced clips. It has not yet been officially released, though it was leaked.

Others Polycount contest entries

Valve selected five entries from the Polycount Contest out of a total of 76. Robin Walker has stated that nearly half of the entries were of high enough quality to be put in-game.[5] All of the entries can be located here.

Contribution Site Gallery

Valve stated they would release a way to view all user submitted content before they were implemented into the game (or not)[citation needed]. It is unknown when this feature will be available. A Gallery for Avatars only has since been released. However a gallery for hats and weapons has yet to be made.
